Jessica was extremely happy. She dialed Gary's number. It was a Saturday. The kids were running about the house, making noise. Jessica wasn't bothered at all. Instead, she was happy they were happy.
"Gary! Good morning!" She greeted her cheerfully.
Gary chuckled softly. "Jessie! How are you dear?"
"Oh, I'm very good."
"I can sense the excitement in your voice. What's the reason for this uncontrollable excitement?"
"Hmm.. guess what." Jessica teased.
Gary sighed. "Jessica, I'm terrible at making guesses."
"I'm coming to California!"
Gary paused. "Huh? Really?"
"Yeah!"
"That's brilliant. Wow. I can't wait to have you around." He said.
Jessica smiled shyly. "Stop teasing me. Anyway, I want you to help me get a good apartment."
"Oh. That's not a problem. I will help you find one. I assume you would be staying with the kids alone?"
"Yeah. I'm not certain Angie will be moving with me. She still has work."
"Okay. I think a three bedroom apartment would be fine then?"
"Yes. Perfect." Jessica said.
"Alright. I'm happy for you, Jess. I will have it arranged ASAP. When do you guys want to move?"
"Uh, in two days I guess. We still need to pack up. I need to collect transfer papers from the twins' school, and I need to send in my resignation letter as well."
"Oh, alright then. I'll find something comfortable for you."
"Yeah, thanks Gary." Jessica thanked him. "Bye."
Abby stood behind her. Once she was done with the call, she turned to find the girl there.
"Are we traveling mom?" The girl asked cutely.
"Yes honey."
Abby's eyes shone. "Gabby, Gabby! We are traveling! C'mon, let's go pack!"
Gabby ran towards the mother daughter duo. His eyes shone in expectation.
"Mommy?" He asked expectantly. "Are we really traveling?"
"Yes. We are going to California. Grandma and grandpa are there too." Jessica rubbed his head as she spoke.
"Yay!" He cheered. "Can we pack our bags now?"
"Sure. Do it neatly too." Jessica called out. They were very excited, even more than she was. They raced to their room to begin shoving their clothes into a big bag, careless of if it was going to fit or not.
Angela walked into the house to see that scene. She was totally confused.
"Jess? Babe, what's up? Why are the kids shoving clothes into their bags? Are you guys going somewhere?" Angela asked all at once.
"Angie! I've been waiting for you. Come come." She pulled her to the couch and the both of them sat, facing each other.
"Angie, firstly I want to thank you for putting up with us. You really took care of us and helped me as well. I'm very thankful for that."
Angela glared at her. "What the hell are you trying to achieve by sweet talking me?"
Jessica giggled. "Nothing baby. Actually, Dad got a place for the company. He and mom have moved back to California, so I and the kids are planning to go as well. I have asked Gary to help us find an apartment in California. Probably a three bedroom apartment."
Angela scowled. "Well, you had better ask him to make it a four bedroom apartment. I'm coming with you guys. If your dad is going to start the company again, isn't he going to need workers?"
"Yeah.." Jessica answered.
"Then..? I'm coming with you! I'm going to work in your dad's company. As the first employee."
Jessica hugged her tightly. "Angie, thank you so much! You're the best friend ever!"
Angela hugged her back. "Next time, try to escape me and I will deal with you too." She threatened playfully.
"Mommy, is Aunty Angie coming along?" Gabby asked, leaning close to Angela.
"Of course sweetheart. I will be coming along with you! How can I leave you alone?" Angela cooed. Gabby grinned.
"Mommy, we are done packing. Can we go now?" Abby asked cutely.
Angela giggled at her behavior. "Aren't they eager to get across the country now?"
Jessica sighed tiredly. "I need to cross check your packing first. We still have two days before we leave. I have to get a transfer paper from their school."
Angela nodded. "Jess, I'm serious about working with your dad though. I think I would also need a fresh start as well. Leaving this place would be very helpful to achieve that."
"I understand," Jessica whispered. She got up and went inside to rearrange the kids' clothes, folding them neatly into a big bag. When she was done with that, she took a small break to eat, then she resumed packing. She packed their shoes, and their school stuff.
She e-mailed the school requesting the transfer papers as well. They sent her a soft copy since it was the weekend. Jessica was going to have to print it herself to submit to the new school. Or she could just forward it to them.
She knelt on the floor, arranging everything she could. She remembered to keep some necessary items out for their last two days in the house.
"Angie, remember to not go grocery shopping! We don't need more food!" Jessica suddenly called out.
"Okay, mom," Angela called back. Jessica chuckled. Ever since she gave birth, Angela always teased her by calling her mom. She didn't blame her, due to her mother's instincts, she always acted like a mom to Angela.
Edwin Turner, I am coming for you. I will surely bring you down, and you won't even know what hit you. You won't even see this coming.
She was just happy that things were now going well for her family, but it didn't mean she wasn't going to pay them back.
