Getting to the bar house, Edwin looked around as he tried to locate his friend, Roy, among the people, but he couldn't find him. He picked out his phone and dialed his number immediately, Roy picked up the call and told Edwin that he was very close to the location.
Edwin walked to the VIP and sat down. A waitress noticed his presence and she walked to him to take his order.
Edwin ordered two bottles of wine, and the waitress brought them after a few minutes in an ice bucket.
Edwin opened the first wine and served himself some portions and he started drinking it.
Resting his chin on his hand, Edwin's mind went to Jessica, he brought out his phone to try her number again, and still, he couldn't get through it.
He checked his WhatsApp to drop a message, and she scrolled to Jessica's name. But to his surprise, Edwin discovered she had blocked him on WhatsApp.
With a frown on his face, Edwin looked at the phone again and smashed it on the floor.
Roy, who was coming in, saw his friend's behavior and wondered who might have offended him.
He walked toward the smashed phone and picked it up.
" And who makes you mad this way, Ed!" Roy said as he stretched his hand to return the phone to Edwin.
Roy sat down opposite Edwin, his eyes went to the wine on the table and he noticed he already finished a bottle.
" What happened?" Roy asked, staring at Edwin, who had finished a bottle of wine within a few minutes.
The waitress walked to the table and asked for Roy's order. Roy decided to go with what Edwin was taking, she came with an extra bottle of wine and a glass cup.
He served himself and leaned back, as he looked to Edwin, waiting for him to answer his question.
" What if I told Jessica is out of the state?" Edwin said with a sly smile.
" What do you mean by that?" Roy responded as he sipped his wine.
" Jessica fucking leave me, Roy," Edwin shouted, grabbing the wine glass.
" How sure are you about this? You shouldn't jump to a conclusion," Roy said in a calm tone.
" And you are still supporting her now? Like seriously? She left me for Gary," Edwin said with a sour expression, and he drank the wine.
" Which Gary?" Roy asked with a furrowed brow.
" Gary Anderson!" Edwin shouted again as he poured himself another drink and finished it off.
" Edwin, you need to calm down and explain, what do you mean she leaves you for Gary?" Roy asked, looking at his frustrated friend.
Edwin explained everything that happened to Roy, right from how he found Gary's car in her apartment to Gary's assistant dropping Jessica's car at the office, sweating profusely, despite the fact the air conditioning was on.
" Do you know the craziest part? I decided to check on her in her apartment, you know, to let go of my ego," he said and continue, " on getting there, a saw a fucking banner on the apartment,"
" Do you call the number?" Roy asked with wide eyes.
" Of course I did, I was told she moved out," Edwin explained.
" Umm hmm, this is more serious than I thought," Roy said, as he continued sipping his wine.
" I don't know what to do, I feel cheated Roy," Edwin murmured.
" Feel cheated?" Roy shouted as he adjusted his seat and continued, " do you love her?"
" Love? What do you mean if I love her, she's my girlfriend," Edwin replied and he poured himself another wine.
" You don't always act like this over a girl, you used and dumped them, that's why I am asking if you are in love," Roy said, with his eyes on Edwin.
" I don't know actually, but I don't think I love her, I just feel cheated on, "Edwin responded.
" Keep lying to yourself, what's your next move, " Roy asked, pouring himself another drink with a smile on his face.
" Do you think Gary planted Jessica on me? Edwin asked with narrowed eyes.
" Is anything missing in your office? Maybe some important documents?" Roy asked.
" No, nothing is missing," Edwin said, running his hand through his head.
" Then you can't say Gary put her on you," Roy suggested. " I think you should meet with Gary, maybe he might be of help,"
" Are you kidding me? Meet with Gary?" Edwin shouted.
" Then how do you intend to find her?" Roy asked, looking confused.
" I don't need to find her, if she needs me, she knows where to find me," Edwin responded with a smile.
The two friends continued their chat till night. Some girls came around but Edwin sent them away. Roy noticed Edwin was acting tipsy. He decided to call Gabriel, his assistant, so he could pick him up. Gabriel arrived after some minutes and he drove Edwin home.
On getting home, Edwin went to his room, and he continued imagining Jessica in his room.
He left the room and went back to his mini bar, he picked wine and started drinking again, remembering the time they spent together as lovers.
He picked out his phone again and checked if his eyes were playing a prank on him, but he noticed he remained blocked on WhatsApp.
He scrolled through his picture and he remembered snapping Jessica on their business trip to New york. He quickly checked through his gallery and saw the picture, he brought the phone to his eyes and kissed the phone.
He remembered what Roy told him in the evening, that he was in love with Jessica.
" I didn't plan it this way, I am not supposed to fall in love with her. Why am I feeling this way?"
" Is this how people feel when they are in love? Do I love Jessica?"
Edwin continued asking himself a series of questions with no one to answer except him.
" I don't know if I should talk to Gary but…"
Edwin went to his email to check if her email is still active and it was.
He clicked on the compose button and drafted a message to Jessica and he hit send.
He continued drinking his wine and he started feeling sleepy. He lay on the couch and he slept off.
"Jessica, please come back!" Edwin murmured in his sleep.
