Waking up the following morning, Jessica felt a splitting pain erupting from her head.
"Arrrrrrggg! What the fuck happened to me?" She grumbled, trying to stand up.
She looked down only to see that she was still putting on her dress from last night. What happened to her last night? She couldn't believe she was still in the dress!
" Why am I still in my party clothes?" Jessica thought, holding her hand with one hand.
The pain was increasing and the worst of it was that she felt so miserable and nauseous. Her mind tried to search for what might have happened to her last night and that's when she started to recollect a little.
" Did I get drunk? Why the headache?" Jessica murmured to herself.
Coming down from her bed, she saw the drug and water beside her bedside, with a note that said' Please take me!',
After seeing the drug, Jessica knew she had been drunk last night. Did she take that much alcohol?
She quickly went to the bathroom to have her teeth brushed. After brushing, she took the drug that was placed there.
"Why on earth would I get drunk? I hope I didn't embarrass myself?" She questioned herself. She still hadn't gotten any tangible memories of last night.
Sitting down on the bed, Jessica was holding her head, not because of the headache alone, but to think of what she did last night.
" Did I misbehave? What did I say to Edwin?" Jessica murmured to herself again.
Still thinking of what happened last night, she remembered Edwin had ordered some drinks for them and she took a full glass. What happened after then was becoming blurry.
Just when she was starting to give up on remembering anything, an image flashed to Jessica's head and she remembered how she was pinching Edwin so hard on his cheeks.
Her face paled at what she just remembered. How could she do that to her boss? Did she hurt him?
" Oh my God, what have I done?" Jessica shouted, with her hand, covering her mouth.
" How will I face my boss this morning after all I did to him last night?" Jessica murmured.
After a few minutes of pacing up and down in her room, she decided to see her boss so she could apologize for last night.
Jessica braced herself up and walked out of her room. When she got to Edwin's room, she stood there unable to knock or say anything. She was there for another ten minutes before she finally took a deep breath and braced her fears.
Putting on a sweet smile, she knocked on his door. There was silence. Was her boss still angry? She knocked again and this time, Edwin let her in.
" Good morning sir," Jessica greeted, staring into space.
Edwin was busy working on his laptop but when hearing Jessica greeting him, he stopped to look at her.
" Good morning. Feeling better?," Edwin responded, a faint smile on his face.
Jessica bit her lips as she nodded." Yes, sir. Just a little headache but it will be better after the drugs you gave me. Thank you so much, sir."
" It's not a problem. Just don't try to force yourself to remember anything. It will gradually come to you," Edwin said, looking at her face.
" About that… Sir, I am sorry for last night. I don't mean to do that, '' Jessica said, making a puppy face at Edwin.
" Hmmm, it's okay. I understand but you should be careful when drinking," Edwin advised.
" Yes, sir. I am grateful," Jessica said, her eyes fixed on the floor.
" I am just checking the project for the last time, come and look through," Edwin explained with a smile.
Jessica walked toward him, feeling grateful that he did not press issues on what she did last night. He indicated she sat beside him so they could check the project together.
" Do you mind if I have it on my laptop too?" Jessica asked, still clicking on the laptop. It would be easier if she had it too.
" Hmm, it's okay," Edwin responded.
" Okay, let me get my laptop," Jessica said as she got up to retrieve her laptop from her room.
After a few minutes, she was back. Edwin transferred the project to her laptop and Jessica stood up to go back to her room.
" I ordered breakfast. You can have your shower then join me for breakfast," Edwin said, as he watched her go to her room.
" Okay sir," Jessica responded, as she walked out of the room.
Getting to her room, Jessica couldn't believe the fact that her boss was being nice to her overnight. Was there something that happened that she didn't remember?
" Why is he like this? This is not his usual self… Did I say something bad last night? Jessica thought to herself.
Jessica went to the bathroom to have her bath. After a few minutes, she was done with her bath. She quickly dressed up, making sure to look decent. Although he was being nice, that doesn't stop him from being who he was.
She took one last look at herself before going out for breakfast with her boss in the living room.
Sitting down at the dining table with Edwin, they both ate their food in silence.
" The meeting is coming up in the next hour, " Edwin explained, munching his food silently.
" Okay sir," Jessica responded, focused on the meal before her.
After the meal was finished, Jessica thanked Edwin and went back to her room. She went to her bedroom and copied the project on an external drive while she decided to call her friend before the meeting started.
She picked up her phone to call Angie, and after twenty minutes of cracking jokes, the two friends ended their conversation.
Edwin came to Jessica's room with his laptop, and the two left for the meeting. Getting to the hall, Jessica was surprised to see that there were different people with their laptops waiting for the program to start.
She prayed fervently for them to grab the project. It would make their travel meaningful and she would be happy for her company too.
