During their dinner, Edwin couldn't contain his happiness for having Jessica out with him.
"Why do you keep staring at me and smiling?" Jessica asked with her gaze still on her meal.
"I just can't believe you're here, with me. Eating happily. It feels like a dream."
Jessica stared up at him. She could see his happiness evident in his eyes. A part of her felt bad for leaving him. If what Roy said was the truth then he must have been totally devastated having not seen or heard from her again.
"I.. I.." She stuttered. She returned her gaze to her meal. "I'm happy I'm here too."
Edwin smiled. He reached out to grab her hand across the table and began caressing it softly.
"You never told me what made you leave," Edwin said softly.
"You never told me how you found us. If it wasn't Roy, then who did?" Jessica asked. She knew it couldn't be Gary. He and Edwin were enemies, and Gary was in love with her!
"It was.." Edwin's mind flashed back to the incident that led him to her place. "Hm." He looked at her again.
"Actually, it was that I was tracking the location of the person who tried to destroy my company, and it led me to you," Edwin said. His mind was still trying to work it out. "Was it you?"
Jessica felt slightly embarrassed. "Yes, it was me."
Edwin didn't know how to feel. Did she really hate him so much that she wanted him to crumble?
"Did I really hurt you that much?" He asked sadly.
Jessica shook her head. "It has nothing to do with you. Honestly, when I found out about it, I cried knowing that you would have to suffer from this too."
"What's going on?" Edwin asked, confused.
Exhaling softly, Jessica knew she couldn't keep it a secret anymore from him.
"When my father's company crumbled, I was broken. I knew he was framed but I thought it was my uncle. Nevertheless, and regardless of who it was, I also never had proof. I was struggling for so long, just to make ends meet."
"When I met you, I honestly thought it was going to be different for me. Then the stunt you pulled that night, everything just seemed to be working against me."
"I found out I was pregnant and I had to leave. A few months back, someone messaged me with all the proof I needed about who was involved in the destruction of my father's company."
Edwin held his breath. His gut told him that it was going to have something to do with him. Nevertheless, he didn't want to hear her say so.
"I found out it was your father and Hanna's father. When I heard it, I completely believed you also had a hand in it. That was why I returned, solely to take revenge on your father and the Reids. I'm sorry you had to be caught up in it." Jessica ended.
Edwin sighed deeply. "I am deeply sorry, Jessica. I never knew my father had a hand in any of that. I never knew you had gone through all this, I'm so sorry! Forgive me, please."
Jessica smiled. "I don't think it's in your place to apologize, Edwin. Your sin is different from that of your father."
"I have no idea why my father would do such a wicked thing to your father. But I will have him apologize to you." Edwin promised. "I will make sure he comes to you with an apology."
Jessica nodded. "There's no problem. Let's not dwell on the negatives, let's focus on the future now."
Edwin smiled. He never let go of her hand. In his heart, all the pain he had felt for losing Jessica for six years turned to a burning anger against his father. His father would surely explain to him what Jessica's father had done to make him do such an evil thing.
Unknown to the couple who spent their evening, reconciling and catching up on lost time, a certain jealous woman sat in the dark, glaring murderously at them. This woman was none other than Hannah Reid.
She had somehow stumbled upon Edwin's car outside and came in hurriedly in hopes to meet him there. She had thought he was also heartbroken about their breakup and must have come to clear his head. She never thought she would find him in a happy state, not to mention with a woman.
A woman she always loathed. Her evil intent was so evident in her eyes that she looked so scary in the dimness of the bar.
She had listened to their entire conversation and she couldn't help but hate them. She wanted to destroy them so badly. If she couldn't have Edwin, then he couldn't have anyone as well. There and then, she vowed in her heart to destroy him.
"Edwin Turner, you have crossed a line you were never supposed to. For this reason, you must face the consequences." She muttered. "Your laughter will soon become cries of woe, and I, Hannah Reid, will make sure of that!" She swore.
Hannah watched them until they had finished their date and even till they exited the bar. She couldn't stand the fact that Edwin was too happy to get rid of her.
