FALLING FOR A FAKE OMEGA Chapter 31

Sabrina woke up with a terrible headache. Kenneth was right. The rain wouldn’t be good for her health. Last night, she almost succeeded in seducing him but he was back to his senses before something intimate could happen. As soon as she woke up, she followed her routine. After taking a quick shower, she went to the kitchen to prepare their breakfast. It had always been her routine each day. After marrying into the family, she was just a plain housewife. She was setting up the table when Kenneth entered the kitchen. “What’s wrong?” Sabrina asked as soon as she saw the worried expression on Kenneth’s face. “Grandfather called. He wants to see us, Sabrina,” he panicked. “Can we eat breakfast first before heading there? The food is ready, Ken,” she told him. “Alright, but we must hurry!” So, they ate in a hurry. Sabrina wasn’t able to enjoy the food even if she was hungry. After filling her stomach with bacon and eggs and some fruits, she immediately drank her coffee. Just like Kenneth, Sabrina wasn’t able to eat properly. Kenneth’s grandfather had a reputation for being terrifying whenever he would summon someone. A few minutes later, Sabrina and Kenneth entered his office, and they were both unsure of what to expect from the old man. "Sit down," Gabriel commanded in his stern voice, pointing to the chairs in front of his desk. They obeyed, taking their seats cautiously. “You two should go to the countryside to spend your honeymoon and be sure to conceive a child when you’re back,” Gabriel ordered. Sabrina gasped in shock about the topic. How Gabriel McBride could order her to conceive as if it was so easy to do? Sabrina and Kenneth exchanged surprised glances. They hadn't expected Gabriel to be involved in their honeymoon plans, let alone make such a decision for them. Nonetheless, they remained silent, waiting for Gabriel to continue. "The countryside is a peaceful and serene place," Gabriel continued, his voice softening slightly. "It will provide you both with an opportunity to relax and enjoy each other's company away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I believe it will be a beneficial experience for your newly formed bond." Sabrina and Kenneth nodded, still processing Gabriel's unexpected directive. While they had imagined different honeymoon scenarios, the idea of escaping to the countryside did hold a certain charm. “I understand, Grandfather. I will make some plans very soon,” Kenneth replied. "There’s no need to prepare, Kenneth. All you have to do is leave today,” Gabriel informed them. "I have already made the necessary arrangements for your accommodations so enjoy your time there and make the most of this opportunity." With those final words, Gabriel signaled the end of their meeting. Sabrina and Kenneth rose from their seats, thanking Gabriel for his consideration, though their gratitude was mixed with a hint of apprehension. They left his office, their minds abuzz with thoughts of the upcoming countryside honeymoon that awaited them. “Where is this countryside, Ken?” “Clayland. My family owned a plantation there,” he answered. “Are we really going to the countryside, Ken?” “Didn’t you hear my grandfather’s words, Sabrina? He said we are leaving today,” Kenneth snapped at her. “Alright,” she said. Sabrina and Kenneth had no choice but to comply with Gabriel's order and make their way to the countryside. They packed their belongings and embarked on the journey to the plantation that had been arranged for their honeymoon. As they arrived and stepped out of the car, Sabrina couldn't help but feel a pang of homesickness. The plantation bore a striking resemblance to her parents' vacation house, with its sprawling green fields, charming cottages, and blooming gardens. The familiar sights and scents evoked memories of her childhood, reminding her of carefree summers spent with her family. It was both comforting and bittersweet. As Sabrina and Kenneth walked through the property, Sabrina's longing for her family intensified. The sights and sounds of the countryside brought back memories of her parents, their laughter, and the warmth of their embrace. She missed their presence, especially during this significant moment of her life. Since it was already dark when they arrived at the plantation, Sabrina was glad she insisted on ordering a takeaway on their way to the countryside. She immediately prepared the table and invited Kenneth to have a quick dinner. Although she heard from Kenneth that the plantation have several maids, she didn’t bother anyone to assist them for the night. After all, they would just go to bed after dinner. Well, that’s what Sabrina believed but after dinner, Kenneth told her he would be out for a walk. She believed him, but then, she heard his car getting away from the main house. She tried calling his phone, but then he intentionally left it. Taking a deep breath, Sabrina decided to just go to her room. Actually, on their way to the countryside, Kenneth told her that their arrangement in the mansion would be the same as in the countryside. They would just do what the old man has told them to do but they didn’t have to follow everything. They agreed to sleep in a separate room after ten in the evening. She was tired from the journey so she didn’t really know what time that Kenneth got home. When she woke up at four in the morning, she went straight to the kitchen because that has been her routine since marrying Kenneth. However, as she entered the kitchen, she noticed Kenneth there. "Did you get some sleep?" she asked, noticing the dark circles under his eyes. "What do you think, Sabrina?" he replied, instead of giving a direct answer. Curious, she shrugged her shoulders, indicating her lack of knowledge. "Why don't you tell me?" she responded. "I couldn't sleep last night," he admitted. "I'm sorry," Sabrina apologized genuinely. “Alright. Coffee?” he asked. "Sure," she agreed to his offer of making coffee, not waiting for a further invitation. “I know that you are dying to ask where I went last night,” he stated. “No, you are wrong,” she answered. “I went to a bar, to drink,” he admitted. “Alright, but it’s not a problem, Ken. You can do your thing as long as you won’t flaunt your affair,” she told him. "I don't know what got into you, but I hope you won’t mention it again," he said. Sabrina took a sip of her coffee, then smiled at him. "It depends on how you're going to treat me. Just treat me well, and I'll be nice in return," she warned, giving him a wink. His nostrils flared in anger at her remark. "Don't you feel bad for me?" he questioned. Sabrina smirked, finding his question amusing. "Should I feel that way? I was forced into this marriage just like you, but then, you got the audacity to cheat under my nose. Whoa, it’s really commendable, Kenneth McBride!” Kenneth simply looked at her, but there was a different expression in his eyes. "I'm sorry," he apologized. "You don't have to be sorry. I know it's my fault, too, but we already talked about this, right?” "Still, I had no valid reason to cheat!" he exclaimed. "Life isn't always a fairytale, Kenneth," she responded. “Anyway, I hope you will do better next time. Once we are back in Azura, please end everything with Isabelle, or else, I wouldn’t have a choice but to inform everyone regardless of the consequences,” I warned him. “No, you wouldn’t!” “You don’t know me, darling,” she challenged him.
