Double Claims: The Lost mate Chapter 32

The morning light bled through the curtains. Its rays were so bright and it was obvious that it wasn’t the early hours of the morning. I slept heavily last night. I sat at the edge of my bed, my nails digging into my hair. They wanted me to marry Triton. No, I won’t. If I couldn’t lead with my wolf, then I would lead with something greater—my seer abilities. I needed the guardians to bless me, and it had to be today. "Maria." Jada called from behind the door. "We need to go to the library. I’ve been expecting you." She came inside, and I rose to my feet, brushing the wrinkles off my dress. I stepped into the bathhouse and got ready in less than five minutes. "You don’t seem to be yourself." Jada said as I combed the last part of my hair. Her eyes flicked over me, noticing my uneasy movements. "I’m fine," I smiled faintly. "Let’s go." We settled in the library and the book of seers was placed on the table. "You have to concentrate for the guardians to give you their blessings. Close your eyes and think of the only thing you want which is your seer gift." Jada placed the book in my hands. I closed my eyes, trying to do like she advised. "Concentrate," She whispered to me. My eyes were shut and I tried focusing on what I needed, but fragments of other thoughts kept appearing in my mind. I was clouded with thoughts about my lost wolf, my lost alpha position, and the suggested marriage to Triton. My efforts to concentrate were futile and I opened both eyes. "I can’t," I whispered to Jada with a look of despair on my face. She placed a comforting hand on my shoulder and took the book from me. "What’s the problem? From the moment I entered your room, your expression told me that something was wrong." I took a deep breath, my eyes becoming a bit watery. I opened my mouth to speak, but the words refused to form. "It’s alright. You can tell me. Is it about Triton? Didn’t he reject you?" "My parents want me to marry him." Nᴇw ɴovel chaptᴇrs are published on N0veI.Fiɾe.net "What?" Jada blurted with a raised brow and an utterly confused look on her face. I went ahead to narrate everything that occurred at night between me and mother. "I lost my wolf, I’ve lost my alpha inheritance and I’m left with getting married to a man who rejected me." My voice broke down as I lamented. "None of that would happen. Just forget about it for now and try to focus on what you want. Don’t think about it." I nodded my head to Jada’s words. She handed the book to me. I closed my eyes with the book in my hand, trying hard to channel my focus to the guardians. I blocked off every other thing and whispered inwardly to myself— ’concentrate’ I felt a bright light shining directly on my face. I opened one eye to see the book radiating light like it did the first time. "Close your eyes. Don’t get distracted." Jada urged. I shut my eyes and the pages of the book flipped open. I could hear the light paper fluttering, until it stopped at a particular page. "Maria." I heard a group of unfamiliar voices call out my name. I opened my eyes to see a trio standing in front of me. "The guardians." I whispered to Jada whose jaw was slacked as she stared in disbelief. Jada bowed down and I joined her with the book still in my hand. "We don’t have a reason to still withhold our blessings from you." The woman in the middle said. The two men by her side nodded their heads in unison. "Thank you guardians." The man by the left side, whose beard was shaped long, cleared his throat and walked closer to me. "You don’t have an evil heart, you haven’t killed anyone, and you don’t have a lingering mate bond." "She doesn’t." The other two chorused. "Maria, from today henceforth, just as you have seen us, you shall continue to see. I bestow the blessing of the seer upon you, and you shall use it to help your pack." He walked back to where his colleagues stood, then, the woman in the center walked closer to me. "As the lady of the council of guardians. I bless your eyes, that they shall see what no ordinary eyes can see." She brought her hand closer to me and touched my eyes. After that, she left to her original position. The last man by the right came closer to me to give his own blessings. "Stretch out your right hand." I obeyed him and stretched it out. He placed his hand on mine and said. "You shall bring great fortune to your pack. From today, I ordain you as a true seer, who would also lead your pack as an alpha. But beware seer, sight is not always the truth. What you see may deceive you." He moved to his original position. The light from the book disappeared, and the guardians disappeared as well. Jada rushed towards me, helping me from my kneeling position to my feet. "They gave me their blessings." I squealed in excitement. "You did it." Jada cheered me on. I looked at the space where the guardians had stood, before returning my gaze to Jada. "Would they ever appear to me again?" I asked out of curiosity. "I’m not sure. Their duty was just to bless you, so I doubt if you’ll see them again. You should get ready to see other things." "I can’t wait." I smiled, my voice filled with intrigue as I wondered what I would see first. "Luna Laura and the alpha requests your presence, my lady." I turned to the entrance to see the maid. "I’m coming." I responded, and she left. I already knew what my parents wanted to say. I’m sure my father wanted to join my mother in repeating the same thing she said last night. "You should tell them about your new ability." Jada said.
