Demon Hunter and His Cabin Chapter 42

Chapter 42: Chapter 042 Night Cat Rage surged, Roger clenched the dagger in his right hand, anger almost ready to explode in his chest, but he took a deep breath, trying hard to calm down. Even though he knew this was Rip’s strategy to provoke him, Roger still couldn’t control the fury in his heart. Now that Rip’s left foot was injured, he barely had the ability to move; his words were just to force Roger to stay and fight to the death. The murderous intent in his eyes thickened; even Roger himself didn’t notice when it had started, but he had become less averse to killing. All his previous actions were intentional, including the setting of the Beast Trap and the choice of routes. Honestly, Roger really should thank Sherman, if it weren’t for the $3,000 he provided. Even if he wanted to set some traps, without money, he could only think about it. If Rip knew that the Beast Trap that hurt him, including the weapon in the hands of the young man opposite him, all came with Sherman’s help, I wonder if he would be so angry that he spewed blood. Roger cautiously showed himself from behind the large tree. Rip stood still, looking even more ferocious after being injured; whether it was an illusion or not, Roger even felt that the fur on his face seemed denser. “I really underestimated you,” “Had I known this day would come, I should have gone straight to your door, gun to your head.” “Lucky you, if you weren’t living in Adeline’s house, kid, you’d be dead already!” “If I were you, I’d hand over that book nicely and then run as far as you can, otherwise, it won’t be long before not just you, but the family you live with too will face total destruction.” Roger’s heart violently trembled, and after a moment of hesitation, he gripped the dagger in his hand tightly. Weapons like Longswords were impossible to find in Baytown; the dagger in his hand was the result of Roger scouring the whole town. “Sherman sent you, right?” “You’re smart,” Rip admitted generously. “Do you know what you’re looking for?” Rip shook his head, “I get paid to do jobs; that is my principle. As for what it is, it doesn’t matter; I just want the money!” “And Mr. Sherman is someone you cannot afford to provoke,” Rip said with a look of fear. His gaze toward Roger was like looking at a dead man. “Adeline is the Sheriff, and as long as I don’t act alone in the future, even if Sherman is wealthy, he can’t do anything to me!” Roger put on a show of toughness. Rip let out a cold laugh, “Your ignorance is laughable, kid. The world is vast, and there are too many things you cannot comprehend.” “You will understand.” With that, Rip suddenly pulled out a phone, “This is a satellite phone; I’m sure Mr. Sherman would love to hear the news about you!” As he spoke, he pressed the call button. Roger’s face abruptly changed, and from their exchange, he could judge that Rip likely didn’t carry any firearms with him. He had wanted to probe for more information, but unfortunately, Rip didn’t seem willing to continue the conversation. With no other choice, Roger could only launch another attack. Rip hadn’t actually pressed the call button; he preferred to complete the task himself and then get the money. His eyes flashed fiercely, “Little guy, I will make you understand what true despair is!” Rip’s weapon was a dagger as long as a forearm, slender with a deep blood groove along the spine, and entirely black, making it nearly impossible to track its trajectory in the darkness. The moment Roger rushed towards him, Rip suddenly moved. He stepped forward with his right foot, powered by his waist and abdomen, at the same time his arm muscles twitched, slashing his dagger upward from below with his left hand. The speed of this attack was astoundingly fast, catching Roger right where his defense and counter-attack were weakest, making it impossible for him to fully leverage his strength. The blades collided, and a tremendous force struck Roger, making him almost topple to the ground, but he quickly adjusted his posture, his inner strength surging forth to withstand the strike while his body angled forward in a rush, the blade skirting aside to pierce towards Rip’s ribs! Though the technique seemed rough, it appeared to be systematically trained, and what surprised him even more was the strength that was transmitted from the opposite side. In pure physical contest, Roger was not much different from him now. It must be known that he was 35 years old and weighed over 200 pounds, in a state of his peak. But this young man before him? “Could he have also encountered some mysterious power?” Rip was shocked, not having time to ponder further as he spun around, raising his dagger to defend. A series of metallic impacts resounded without cease, and the more Roger fought, the more exhilarated he became, displaying many techniques from the elven dagger technique during his attack, fully utilizing his mobility to circle around Rip like a fluttering butterfly. But every beat of his wings brought the deadly edge of his blade. Rip was restricted in his movements, struggling to keep up, but just then, a low growl came from the darkness, and a shadow leaped out of the bushes and lunged at Roger’s back. As if having eyes on his back, Roger moved nimbly to roll and dodge the attack, then saw clearly the dark shadow in the distance. A wild wolf with blood-red eyes. As if the beast hadn’t seen Rip at all, it desperately launched attacks at Roger, and at that moment, Rip’s eyes flashed with determination, he tore off a necklace hanging from his neck, unscrewed it, and drank the liquid inside with his head tilted back. A low growl emanated from his throat, and Rip’s body swelled slightly; it seemed he had forgotten the pain in his feet as he gripped his dagger to join the fray! Roger had just dodged the beast’s assault when in the blink of an eye, Rip was already upon him. Roger raised his blade to block, but the strength from the opposing side was far beyond his expectations, and caught off guard, he was forced back by a blow. “This guy’s strength?” Roger focused his gaze to see that Rip appeared to be in a frenzy, his beard and hair obscuring his facial features, revealing only a pair of beast-like eyes. “Is it some kind of mysterious power?” Roger immediately turned cautious, his attention concentrated, pupils contracting then dilating like the vertical pupils of a cat. Soon after entering the forest, he had taken the Night Cat Potion, which enabled him to discern details clearly even in the darkness. Moreover, as his attention focused, his visual abilities would also be enhanced, granting him a degree of dynamic vision. Everything around seemed to slow down, Rip’s fierce face steadily loomed closer, while a glance from the corner of his eye caught the nearby beast leaping toward him again. Roger lifted his blade, effortlessly finding the weak point in Rip’s attack, power surging from within, and he swung his dagger down. Sparks flew as in the moment their blades collided, Roger’s wrist vibrated, his dagger closely followed the opponent’s blade, moving upward, his body rushed forward, advancing with his elbow raised, blade penetrating Rip’s chest. At this moment, the leaping wolf was precisely mid-air, its typically swift movements now extremely slow, as the rotating blade tore through Rip’s heart. Roger turned around, withdrawing his blade, and slashed past!
