“Betty…” the female driver spoke softly.
“Don’t say anything, I know what to do,” Betty’s voice turned cold.
Meanwhile, Amanda, who was in class, received unexpected information.
Seeing that familiar name, Amanda hesitated before deleting the message.
She felt she had made it clear enough to Betty before, the unknown, though fascinating, came with a price that was far too heavy to bear.
Having not received a reply for a long time, Betty made a call, but soon the call was hung up.
She put her phone back in her pocket, leaned back in her seat, and let out a sigh.
“Drive, let’s wait for her.”
The bell rang, and Amanda packed her things, joining the stream of people departing the school. She’d been through a lot recently and felt she’d grown somewhat.
It had been several days since she last saw Roger.

Amanda carried her textbooks, heading in the direction of home.
A white pickup parked by the roadside opened its door, and a figure blocked Amanda’s path.

It was a familiar face, yet Betty’s demeanor made Amanda almost unable to recognize her.
Her hair was tied up high, and she had lost much weight since they last met, her black and white eyes now filled with nothing but indifference.
“Didn’t you get my message?”
“Or you didn’t want to return my calls?”
Amanda remained silent, somewhat afraid to look into Betty’s eyes at that moment, as if something from within those eyes would burrow out at any time.
“Why are you rejecting me?”
“I opened the door to a mysterious world for you, isn’t this what you’ve always wanted?”

Betty took a step forward, her eyes suddenly as deep as the night, and Amanda struggled, but was quickly captivated, her eyes involuntarily sinking in.
“Come with me, let’s go home.”

Betty slowly leaned forward, extending her right hand at the same time, and Amanda walked forward uncontrollably.
