“Is this true, Roger?”
Adeline, holding a piece of letter paper, asked excitedly and loudly.
“I’m so happy for you!”
“It seems you’ve forgotten some things, but some skills have remained perfectly intact. We must celebrate for you tonight.”
Adeline patted Roger’s shoulder, “You can’t decline this time. Put on a music performance, maybe many years later this story will appear in your autobiography.”
Joy overflowed from Adeline’s eyes.
Roger nodded, “No problem, I’ll play a piece for you all.”
“Bordeaux Conservatory of Music!”
Adeline exclaimed, “That’s the most famous music university in the entire state. When I was young, I also dreamt of stepping onto that stage, but unfortunately, the university was too difficult to get into.”
“And I didn’t have any talent.”
“To think that you caught the eye of Professor Compson himself, he’s a renowned maestro…”
Adeline praised him tirelessly, making Roger even feel a bit embarrassed.
As for Compson, Roger said he had never met the man. Everything had been taken care of by Henrik.
“Will you be specially recruited into the university?”
Something suddenly occurred to Adeline.
Roger shook his head, “This semester is almost over, followed by the summer break. When the next semester starts, I’ll need to attend the high school affiliated with the Bordeaux Conservatory of Music.”
Roger’s face showed a hint of difficulty, “You know, Adeline, although I love it here, the musical environment there is more suited for my development.”
“It’s alright,” Adeline said with a look of reassurance on her face.
“Time flies. It feels like you’ve just gotten familiar with this place, and now it seems you’ll be leaving.”
A hint of reluctance appeared on Adeline’s face as she stepped forward and hugged Roger.
“I’ve been very happy during the days you’ve been here.”
“Remember, this will always be your home.”
“Don’t worry about the tuition fees, I’ll help you sort that out.”
Art studies can be very expensive.
Roger felt warmed inside and shook his head, “My situation is quite special. Professor Compson said I’m eligible for a special funding slot; the foundation will cover the cost of my studies at the high school for the following year.”
“When I go up to the university next year, there will be a full scholarship, so you don’t have to worry about the tuition fees.”
“You really should thank Professor Compson; he has been a huge help.”
In Armenia, college tuition is a significant expense, and many students who can’t afford the high fees either work part-time or apply for student loans.
“There’s no need for that,” Roger quickly dissuaded Adeline from the idea.
All of this was merely official procedure; in fact, once in Bordeaux City, Roger wouldn’t be attending the so-called high school of music, nor would he possibly enter any music conservatory the following year.
There, he would embark on a whole new life.
A life entirely belonging to a Demon Hunter.
The time until the summer break would be his first and last summer in Baytown.
With new arrangements in place, Roger naturally wouldn’t need to go to school to study; he planned to dedicate all his spare time to training.
With some luck, he might pass the Green Grass Trial within these two months.
Adeline busied herself in the kitchen preparing dinner while Roger, having nothing else to do, went back to his room alone.
But no sooner had he entered than someone knocked on his door.
“I heard your conversation just now. Are you leaving?”
Amanda suddenly found the young man before her somewhat unfamiliar; he seemed much stronger than she first remembered, and the whole of him was now steady and confident.
“Accidentally spotted by Professor Compson…”
Roger laughed it off—this was a subject he couldn’t discuss in detail; the more he talked, the larger the holes in his story would become.
“Oh right, regarding that matter you asked me about last time, have you made a decision?”
Roger swiftly asked in turn.
He certainly didn’t want that silly girl to be seduced by that black-hearted woman after he left.
“You make a lot of sense, and I’m very satisfied with my life now.”
“The rift between my mother and me is fading.”
“Everything is getting better, isn’t it?”
Roger’s expression, however, turned grave.
“The thing you’re hesitating about has something to do with Betty, doesn’t it?”
Amanda’s face changed slightly, and she inadvertently blurted out, “How did you know?”
“The last time you went to Swamp Town, did you see something in their living area?”
A look of hesitation flashed across Amanda’s face.
“I can’t say, although… it disgusted me, but since it’s… Betty and them…”
“It’s some kind of mystical ritual, isn’t it.”
Seeing the astonishment on Amanda’s face, Roger knew he had guessed correctly.
“She exposed you to mysterious things; is she also planning to involve you in them?”
Since Roger had guessed correctly, there was nothing left for Amanda to hide.
“Betty said she could guide me into the Transcendent World, but to gain that magical power, I would have to pay a certain price.”
“Sacrificing part of my body!”

Amanda’s body trembled slightly, “Betty sacrificed her own womb.”

“Having sacrificed part of her body, that girl is not the one you knew anymore,” Roger advised.
“How do you know all this?”
Amanda still found it somewhat strange.
Roger took out a bottle of liquid and placed it on the table; it was enhanced Spirit Communication Water.

Amanda asked with curiosity, but still did as told.
Roger opened the pocket watch in his hand.
