The competition proceeded as most had expected and both Qing Yi and Bai Fei ended up facing each other in the finals. Not much of a surprise as they were the only ones who had reached the Foundation Establishment Realm. The rest of the competitors were only at the Qi Condensation Realm…
The finals would begin soon, and it was only at this moment that Xuan Hao managed to catch a glimpse of Bai Fei's master.
The man was wearing a pitch-black robe and had an aloof look on his face as he looked uncaringly at the surrounding people.
The man had only come when the finals were about to start and was sitting at the seat of honour that the Bai family had made for him, even without feeling the other guys nascent soul aura, Xuan Hao could guess who he was.
The only thing that surprised Xuan Hao, was how the guy seemingly didn't try to hide or mask his aura and instead let it out freely.
Xuan Hao himself had masked his Nascent Soul aura, as it would be quite uncomfortable for others and it would automatically give away his strength to any lurking enemies that might be out there.
Like right now, Xuan Hao could easily feel that the nascent soul expert from the Black Rose Sect was only at stage 1 of the Nascent Soul Realm, while the man himself had no clue that there was another Nascent Soul expert observing him from the side.
Other than Xuan Hao, the rest of the people present also looked at the man in the pitch-black robe full of respect and fear.
It was a Nascent Soul cultivator! A real living one!
"Master, I will be going now!" Bai Fei looked at the black robed man as he said respectfully, different from his former arrogant tone.
"…" The man did not say anything and only nodded uncaringly as he closed his eyes, either to meditate or just relax.
Bai Fei did not mind and went onto the stage, where Qing Yi was already waiting for him.
"The finals of this year's annual youth competition will be between Qing Yi from the Qing family and Bai Fei from the Bai family! Are both of you ready?" A relatively young man stood between both Qing Yi and Bai Fei on the stage as he announced loudly.
"Yes!" Both of them replied affirmatively, as they got into a fighting stance.
"Then you can begin when you see fit!" Saying those last words, the young man quickly made his way down from the stage, so both of them could start the duel.
"Well then little girl, let's see how strong you really are!" Bai Fei did not wait at all and launched an attack the moment the young man had made his way down from the stage.
"Black Rose Palm!" Bai Fei launched his palm technique and a small rose made out of qi quickly formed at the centre of his palm as it engulfed it and expanded until it was double the size of Bai Fei's hand.
Manifesting qi through qi techniques was something that one could only do at the Foundation Establishment Realm and was also one of the reasons why a Foundation Establishment Realm cultivator was so much stronger than a Qi Condensation Realm cultivator.
The Black Rose flew towards Qing Yi as she quickly drew her sword to defend.
The Sword was an Earth Rank Artifact that she had gotten from placing second in the newcomer tournament of the Flying Sword Sect.
Swinging down with all of her might, Qing Yi slashed towards the incoming black rose as the Autumn Wind Sword showed its might to the world.
A small explosion occurred as the black rose and sword slash crashed into one another, sending a blast of wind out towards the spectating crowd of people.
Things did not stop here, as Qing Yi's sword attack continued towards Bai Fei.
"Argh!" Although the attack from Qing Yi was weakened by the black rose that Bai Fei had attacked with earlier, it was still more than enough to wound him as a wound appeared on his left arm.
In the last second before the sword attack reached him, Bai Fei had put his left arm up to defend while deploying a defensive qi technique to try and mitigate as much of the damage as possible.
"You! How dare you!" Looking at the bleeding wound on his left arm, Bai Fei suddenly turned extremely aggressive as he stared at Qing Yi with a murderous look.
"I will make you pay for daring to injure my body!" Having a temper tantrum, Bai Fei started screaming angrily like a 5-year-old child throwing a tantrum.
Qing Yi looked at the almost impossible to see small wound on Bai Fei's left arm and 1 or 2 drops of blood that had leaked from the wound.
Xuan Hao also looked speechlessly towards Bai Fei as he was openly throwing a tantrum for others to see.
How come a grown-up young man is throwing a tantrum that even a 3-year-old would find hard to beat? Is the Bai family not embarrassed?
Thinking this Xuan Hao turned and looked at the Bai family in question and sure enough, all of them had already turned bright red in embarrassment at the childish behaviour of Bai Fei.
Back on the stage, Qing Yi looked as speechless as the rest of the crowd as she watched how Bai Fei kept complaining and screaming.
Is this really a cultivator…? My attack barely damaged him… Maybe he is stalling for time to recover his qi!?
Suddenly, Qing Yi felt like she had found the "answer" to her question and decisively charged towards Bai Fei as he complained.
"-And I will make sure that you will live to regret ever- "
The attack came all of a sudden and Bai Fei had not expected for Qing Yi to suddenly attack as he was still talking about how he would deal with her.
In the last second, Qing Yi realized that her opponent was not defending at all, so she turned her sword from the sharp side to the flat side as the poor Bai Fei was smacked directly in the face and sent flying for a few dozen meters out of the stage.
At least Bai Fei got to feel like a Domain Lord and fly freely in the air for a few seconds…
