Turning towards the dead body of the desert bandit and then back to Xuan Hao again. The desert bandits felt a chill go down their spine as they saw how easily the person who descended from the sky had dealt with one of them.
"So… Might I ask you a few questions?" Hearing the voice of the person in question, the bandit leader Yang Li shakingly turned around like the rest of his gang and looked fearfully at Xuan Hao. The attack from earlier was too fast and he didn't even notice it, if such an attack was launched towards himself… He would most likely end up like Billy who tried to run away, dead on the ground!
"Wh-what do you want to ask?" Building up all of his courage, Yang Li asked in a scared voice. Whatever the man in front of him asked, he would answer it no matter what! He really had no plans of dying yet.
"Hm… I'm just wondering why someone who already reached the Core Formation Realm is running around being a bandit. Even if you just worked as a guard, you would definitely earn far more than you do by robbing people… Or maybe you have another reason?" Asking curiously, Xuan Hao looked directly at the leader of the Desert Bandits.
"I-I… I have my reasons… "Thinking about his past with the Heavenly Sky Kingdoms military, Yang Li quietly clenched his fists together, if he ended up becoming a mere guard, would he not be humiliated by others?
The reason he became a bandit in the first place was so that he could get revenge on the Heavenly Sky Kingdom for their treatment of him in the past!
"So… You don't want to say it?" Raising an eyebrow, Xuan Hao curiously sized up the struggling look that appeared on the bandit leader and tried to push him a little.
"I… I want to get revenge! Revenge for the way they treated me!" Slowly breaking down, Yang Li started talking about his past and how he was approached by someone who told him that they could help him get revenge against the Heavenly Sky Kingdom.
All he had to do was create chaos inside of their borders and apparently there were others like him as well, he still remembered a meeting at the start before he was given an area to cause chaos in.
The meeting was the reason why he had hope that the mysterious power that helped him could get revenge against the Heavenly Sky Kingdom.
Nascent Soul Experts! There had been Nascent Soul Experts present at the meeting and more than just one, at least 5 Nascent Soul experts were present for the meeting and this talked to how strong the mysterious power was.
"Did they have a name or something? Do you know where they are located?" Feeling a sudden looming danger appear, Xuan Hao hurriedly asked for more information.
A mysterious power had suddenly appeared with at least 5 people in the Nascent Soul Realm and wanted to cause chaos in the Heavenly Sky Kingdom, while at the same time, the Azure Sky Kingdom had started to gather their forces at the border.
Xuan Hao felt that it was too much of a coincidence and wanted to get to the bottom of it immediately.
"I-if I'm not wrong, they had a base at- "Just before he managed to answer, his head suddenly expanded like a balloon and exploded into a bloody mess.
The sudden explosion of the bandit leaders head came as a surprise to everyone around, Xuan Hao included, as everyone quickly took a step back, trying to avoid whatever was left of the bandit leader's head.
"Eeeek!" Qing Yi, who was now standing beside Qing Ming, screamed upon seeing the bandit leader's head suddenly explode into a gooey mess.
Qing Yi had never seen anything like it before and even the death of the bandit who ran away before was something she could deal with, but the exploding head was a little too much for her as she quickly hid away behind Qing Ming.
Staring at the now headless body, Xuan Hao looked speechlessly down at his now completely drenched robe.
Earlier, he had gotten closer to the bandit leader as he was talking to hear more clearly and make sure nothing happened to him while he was talking.
This in turn resulted in Xuan Hao not reacting in time to avoid the blood from the head explosion, as he was not really expecting any danger to come from the bandit leader himself, thus changing his formerly white robe into a red one.
"A soul contract?" This was the only thing that Xuan Hao could think of when he looked at the dead body of the bandit leader.
A soul contract was something that only people at the Nascent Soul Realm and above could form, it was a contract that someone could sign, and it would bind to their soul, if the contract were violated, death would be the only outcome of the contracted person.
Though, it was flawed, as people in the Nascent Soul Realm could easily bypass the contract if the party who wrote it was weaker than them.
Thus, the soul contract was mostly used by the stronger cultivators to keep their subordinates in check.
"But who would waste a soul contract on someone who had not even reached the Core Formation Realm…?" From what he knew, the bandit leader only recently broke through to the Core Formation Realm, meaning that someone was willing to use a soul contract on a Foundation Establishment Realm cultivator.
Do not be fooled by the name soul contract, it is not just a paper one has to sign and bam, there you have a soul contract.
No, a soul contract required a lot of expensive spirit herbs and high-grade spirit stones to forge and would mostly only be used on strong cultivators to make sure they did not end up betraying them.
Wasting such an expensive thing as a soul contract on someone who was merely at the peak of the Foundation Establishment Realm?
The only reason for this would be that the people behind him really desperately wanted to keep themselves hidden and Xuan Hao felt a slight chill go down his spine.
It seemed like the Heavenly Sky Kingdom was about to be in a whole lot of trouble!
