Chapter 8
Sometime later I reached in front of his house. His house was extremely beautiful and big with a beautiful garden decorating on the right side of the house. I had seen such kinds of house whenever I travelled around the city with Nancy. The fact was that I was a girl who wanted my dream house to be more spacious with lots of trees and a tiny manmade pond in back of the house. But those dreams never became reality. But the house in front of me got everything I wished I had.
"Wow. He has his treehouse. His house looked heavenly. Such a calm and quiet atmosphere " I breathed.
I knocked on his door and waited for someone to open it. A nice-looking lady opened the door. She was Mrs. Anderson. I had seen her many times on the campus. But not this close. She was such a gorgeous lady. I greeted her and introduced myself. I explained the reason for coming here. She seemed genuinely happy to see me there helping her son in his project.
She welcomed me inside and offered me something to drink. I gladly accepted the offer and waited for Mike to come down from his room.
“ He is in his washroom. I already informed your arrival dear . Make yourself comfortable. “ she smiled at me while offering me coffee.
I quietly sat on the velvet sofa while my eyes wandered around the room.
"Coffee tastes great madam." I smiled at her.
"Thank you dear." She chuckled.
During that time she asked me about the campus and its environment. I explained my experience. She seemed like a nice lady. I told her that I was a scholarship student which made her so proud of me.
I looked around his house which looked like a castle maybe it had been one I don't know about that. The room where I sat was quite big decorated with so many antiques and other home decorations. I could tell that they loved vintage looks.
Mike came down after some time. Still, his expression was unreadable. I couldn't decipher his expression. But he looked hot with those tiny droplets of water on his forehead.
He invited me to his room on the second floor. His room was neatly arranged. Dust-free and mess-free. The curtains were dark blue covering the windows. There was a big bed in the middle with green covers. The wall was decorated with a million posters of actors, gamers, and superheroes. There was a bookshelf opposite the bed. I was quite impressed with him.
“See I am not writing that stupid summary. That is up to you. But I am willing to read those novels. You can pick up the novels. Do let me borrow them. I want to have a piece of precise knowledge about them. “ He said.
“You can use my laptop and my printer. You can search for anything on my system. But don't open unnecessary folders. It is very personal. “ He blinked at me and started playing on his phone. He lied on his bed and made himself comfortable.
He was not willing to change his stupid attitude towards me.
" Great I am stuck with him. How is that even fair that I need to do all this work.” I mumbled.
I decided to avoid that loser and focus on my work. That was my main priority.
After searching for sometimes I decided to pick Lord of the flies, Frankenstein and Jane Eyre as my project topics.
“Mike I decided on our project topics," I told him.
“Tell me then," He asked without looking at me. He seems quite busy with his phone.
“Lord of the flies, Frankenstein and Jane Eyre. How is it my selection .”
“ I thought you like romance. “ He finally looked at me and asked me.
“Do I look like a romantic person to him? Loser "
"Well, I am not a very big fan of romance. I like mystery novels. I am quite fascinated about them.” I told him.
“You don’t have a boyfriend?” He smirked.
Why the hell he wants to know about all this stuff. It's none of his business to know about me.
"Well, it's my stuff. It is none of your business. " I smiled back at him.
"Well, you seem like a boring person. No wonder you don’t have one “ He replied with a mockery in his voice.
How the hell did he figured out I don't have one. He seems mysterious.
“I can pick up the books from the library. I registered for my library card yesterday. The librarian said they will issue the card within a couple of days. Did you register for the card? " I asked him.
"No, I am not interested in that boring place. You can pick the books all by yourself. " He replied.
“ I can borrow the novels from you since you are my partner. " He continued.
Why was he making things so difficult for me? Why can't he be a normal student? The only thing he was interested in were girls.
"Well, then it's getting late. I need to leave now. "
"I can drop you if you want," He told.
"It's ok. I live nearby." Well, I lied I don’t want to share my poor situation with anyone. I can’t trust anyone here. They might bully me tomorrow. I don’t want to take risks.
"See you tomorrow then. " He smiled.
"Ok. Bye-bye.”
He followed me down. I said goodbye to him and his mother and left their house. His dad didn't come home yet.
I called the girls and explained everything that happened there. Ria told me his dad was a businessman. The whole family was quite popular. He seems nice today. I wonder what's in his mind.
I sighed and headed to my house. My parents were already waiting for me. Mom served dinner and we ate a very lovely meal together.
It took almost 12 days to complete my project. All these days I was with him. I became very attached to his mom. She was a very sweet lady.
He never took the effort to work with me. All he has done was lay on his bed while I worked on his laptop highlighting important points to complete my project.
The deadline was almost near so I planned on typing the summary.
I started writing while he started reading the books. He never paid any attention to me during all these times.
When the time was up he said he will take the printouts since the work was saved on his laptop.
So on the day, I waited in the canteen for him to show up. I waited for like 30 minutes but he was nowhere there. I called him since I had his number with me.
"Why this happens with me all the time. Oh God"
My body began to shiver uncontrollably thinking about him.
Maybe I shouldn't have trusted him. My mind keep whispering to me.
