Chapter 9
I called him several times but he didn't pick up the call. I started to lose hope. My heart started to beat very fast.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
I decided to look for him.
“Only 30 minutes left to submit. Guess I need to hurry “. I looked at my jet black leather watch and sighed. My foot steps became fast.
Finally, I found him near the soccer ground. He was laughing and having fun with his friends. I was relieved to see him. At least he was still in front of me. He caught me staring at him. His expression became cold. It does sent a shiver down my spine. The truth was that I was still afraid of him. I mastered my courage and opened my mouth to talk.
“ Why didn't you pick up my call. I have been calling you a zillion times. “ I asked him.
"Oh, you have been calling me. My phone was in silent mode. I am sorry about that “ He replied while checking his phone.
“Where is my project ?” I asked him.
“It’s already submitted “ he replied.
Can I trust him? I don't know.
"Then I'll get going. See you in class ".I turned around to catch up with my class.
As I reached my class the professor was already prepared to read a list about something I didn't quietly get. Sometime later Mike and his friends showed up. He gave me a look and went to occupy his seat opposite me.
“I got all the assignments except from one student.” The professor said.
“That student must come and meet me after this class in my office. I will tell the name when this class is over.” He looked so serious.
I was not able to concentrate during the class. My heart was beating really fast. I can’t trust that boy because he never showed me my project.
" Maria, meet me after class “ he said.
Tears starting to fall from my eyes. I never had the courage to look at him or Mike.
I met my teacher and explained everything. I begged him to listen to me. He warned me to reduce my marks. My head was spinning. He called Mike.
"I have done all the work myself. She was just reading the books and never raised one finger to help me .” He said.
“She is definitely lying about working all by herself." He continued.
“Please please you have to listen, sir. None of this is true." I was a crying mess at that time.
"Sir I have the proof. All my work is saved on my laptop. You can check if you want. “He showed his laptop where I saved all the work.
The teacher believed his lies and gave him permission to leave. He gave me a smirk and left.
The teacher gave me a glare and gave me one excuse. He told me to submit my project by tomorrow 8 am or else he will cut my entire marks. Since I was a scholarship student he thought of giving me one chance. I thanked him and rushed out of the room.
Then I saw Mike coming towards me. He was waiting for me. He dragged me and pushed me towards a locker. His grip on my wrist was painful that it made me whimper.
He took his phone from his pocket and started taking pictures of me.
" Mike, what are you doing? Give me that. " I tried to reach him. I accidentally grabbed his hand while doing that. He snapped at me and pushed me so hard that I fell to the ground. My knees were burning.
“ You dirty pig. How dare you touch me with your disgusting hands.” He looked so angry.
“Bitch don’t play with me again or I will make your life hell. Payback for what you did in that shop in front of everyone. You have no idea who I am and what I am to them. I know where you live. You brat“ he spat. Then he turned around and walked without looking back.
In the evening I headed to the digital library to do my project. They opened the library till 8 which made me mentally relieved. I continued typing the sentences I was able to remember. I took a pain killer because of the harsh headache I was experiencing due to heavy crying. But I was able to complete my work and take printouts.
I was so angry with myself for trusting him. I will never trust him again I promise myself.
My knees were burning. “ I need to get back home quickly. “ My tears were flowing uncontrollably even while I was heading home. I took my handkerchief and wiped my tears.
“ I can’t believe he called me filthy. I am a human too. I have feelings “
On the next day, I submitted my project before the deadline. He told me he will reduce some points since I was not able to submit my project on time.
I can’t argue with him so I thanked him and rushed to the washroom and cried till my head hurt. I wondered why Rose or Ria never called me though. I was quite busy yesterday that I forgot about them. But they didn't even message me. I felt like they are avoiding me.
I tried calling the girls but they never responded or took the initiative to call me back. The same thing happened during my class. They won't even look at me anymore.
I tried talking to them during lunchtime. They told me the reason for their odd behavior. Mike warned them not to talk with me ever. If he caught them talking to me he will make their life hell. I was so shocked to hear that. I mean we were friends till yesterday and suddenly they stopped talking to me.
Ria's boyfriend was Mike's friend. So that guy also put a wall between us. Mike was making my life hell.
Shit. I cursed.
Why the hell is me? He treated me like I destroyed his whole life. But the truth was I was suffering.
He definitely going to regret hurting me.
