Angelo’s anger dissipated, resigned to washing his hair. "You don’t have to," He turned down the offer, his hands in his hair, a slight wince at the tangles he could feel.
Nikolai’s eyes cooled, that wasn’t the response he had been expecting to hear. He wanted to push to get what he wanted, but he didn’t, Angelo focusing on his hair and completely ignoring him.
While the assassin was busy with his hair, he quickly cleaned up and slipped out— heshould have kept his hands to himself, and maybe he would have actually gotten to take a proper shower with Angelo.
While Angelo was busy in the bathroom, Nikolai pulled on a bathrobe and sauntered out of the room. He needed to do a quick check to make sure that everything was still in order, it was unlike him to completely disappear for so long.
He stopped by the living room to find Silvia still curled up on a sofa, fast asleep. He stopped and stared at the dog-headed woman for a short while, there were several empty rooms that she could have slept in, there was no reason for her to twist like a pretzel on the smallest couch in the living room.
Nikolai ignored her and kept walking, leaving her to sleep in the most uncomfortable position possible without so much as a second look over his shoulder. He stepped into his room and waited for his eyes to adjust to the darkness.
Sleeping in a bathrobe wasn’t the most comfortable option, so he swapped it out for a night robe, grabbing one for Angelo as well. There were no curtains in his room so the night sky was clearly visible. With the penthouse so high up, it almost looked like one could reach out and touch the low-hanging clouds.
He could work anywhere, but only one place had Angelo. He didn’t want to work around the assassin, though, not wanting to bother him if he did fall asleep, so he sat in the dimly lit room and got to work.
He just needed to do a quick check through his call log and emails, and dish out a bunch of orders. It was done in no time, but it felt like hours to Nikolai, he got up impatiently when he was done, ditching the phone and laptop he had worked on in his room.
His night robe was black and he had gotten a red one for Angelo, half-expecting the assassin to be fast asleep when he returned.
Angelo was not on the bed when he opened the door, and for a moment he thought that the assassin was still in the bathroom, only to scan the room to find Angelo curled up on a sofa in the sitting area, staring at the door... waiting for him.
The tension eased out of Nikolai’s shoulders as he slowly walked over, a strange expression on his face. "Did I keep you waiting long?"
Angelo had a towel wrapped around his hair, he hadn’t done it consciously. He didn’t want to get the bed damp with his wet hair, so he had wanted to sit on a chair, but somehow, it turned into him staring at the door, wondering where Nikolai had gone.
It had him thinking if he shouldn’t have turned down Nikolai’s offer to wash his hair, but Nikolai didn’t seem like the kind of person to get hung up on that. Besides the Mafia King definitely had no experience in washing longer hair, he would just get soap in Angelo’s eyes.
He shook his head, taking the towel off his hair and drying the tips. He didn’t deny that he had been waiting for Nikolai because even if his hair was dry, he wouldn’t have gone to bed. He couldn’t sleep without the Mafia King, after all
Nikolai watched his actions like they were a novelty, handing over the night robe he had gotten for Angelo. Every one of the assassin’s movements drew him in, not even bothering to hide the fact that he was staring as Angelo rose to his feet like a predator cat and undid the ropes keeping his bathrobe close.
Nikolai had worn the loose bottoms that came with the night robes but he had only brought the outer robe for Angelo, not at all hiding his ulterior motives.
Angelo didn’t mind, the bathrobe was shorter and less comfortable besides with how sore his cock was, it would simply be uncomfortable to wear pants. After changing, he walked over to the dresser, in his old room there had been basic necessities, so he hoped this room would also have them.
If he didn’t brush his hair properly tonight, he might as well just chop it all off, because it would be irreparably tangled by the next morning. The mirror in this room was uncovered and as he approached it to search for a hairbrush, he caught a glimpse of himself in it.
Angelo didn’t look for long, dropping his gaze like the mirror was blinding. He did find a hair brush and as he straightened up, his eyes were inevitably dragged to the mirror again, only this time, a damp towel was thrown over it, obscuring it from his view.
He looked around him in surprise, searching for Nikolai. The Mafia King was sitting at the edge of the bed, his attention on him. Nikolai looked like he had been sitting there the entire time, but it was only the two of them in the room.
"Thank you," He murmured, starting on the tips of his hair. He didn’t think that Nikolai paid attention to him like that but the Mafia King watched him an awful lot so he might be changing his stance on that.
Half-way through the arduous task of brushing his hair, Angelo paused and looked up to find Nikolai still watching him like he was doing the most entertaining thing. "Not going to ask why?"
Nikolai blinked like he had been distracted, focusing on Angelo’s words. "No," He went right to the point, waiting impatiently for Angelo to go back to brushing his hair.
