Angelo went up to the penthouse by himself, taking the stairs. When he got to the top floor, he questioned his choices, his legs feeling like jelly as a result of the last two nights.
The bags were neatly kept in the living room and he patted himself on the back for choosing a room close to it. It wasn’t that he couldn’t easily move the bags, choosing a room close to the main entrance was more of a precaution.
After all of the bags were moved to a new room, he took out a set of clothes to wear, swapping his running shoes for black combat boots.
Angelo undid the loose knot his hair was in, but that was just to brush it out so he could braid it and wrap it into a more intricate knot. If he could pin it to place he would, anything to stop Mafia King Nikolai from putting his hair down.
He was sure that the main reason Nikolai did it was because it pissed him off, it wasn’t like he looked much different with his hair up or down.
He started for the door when he was all dressed, feeling much lighter. He couldn’t go back to hoodies and loose pants after trying these on, at least not while he was on the job.
Angelo opened the front door to find a package waiting for him outside, even without Nikolai’s men telling him who it was from, he knew it was Silvia sending him some weapons.
He took the box inside, taking it right to his bedroom as well. He would organize the space later, for now he was in a bit of a hurry.
He didn’t wear the pants with the heavy duty belt because there was really no need for it. He took a few combat knives and a couple of trusty switchblades, he slipped a boot knife in his new shoes to try it out, satisfied with the new clothes he had gotten.
Angelo headed out for the final time, unaware that his new shirt didn’t give as much coverage as his hoodie had. Dark red marks were visible on his pale skin, Nikolai’s men looking right though them.
They started down the hallway when he showed up and Angelo followed after them without question. He had to speak up however when they headed for the stairs, he didn’t think his legs could take another several flights of stairs.
"Can we take the elevator?" He asked with a straight face.
The men wore relief on their faces, hastily changing directions and heading to the elevator instead. There was a different car waiting in a parking lot this time and Angelo dutifully got into the backseat.
Sitting while he had a bunch of knives strapped to his body wasn’t uncomfortable, and he couldn’t help his good mood as the car drove out of the parking lot.
Angelo never cared much for things like clothes but he wished he had, he could have been getting things done more efficiently.
His form-fitting black shirt with stretchy, it clung to him like a second skin, a zipper going down the front so it could easily been worn and taken off. It had a simple shoulder strap, one that held a dagger that he could pull out in less than a second.
The casino soon came into view, it was late in the morning, almost noon but the parking lot was packed with cars.
"The boss is in his office on the third floor," The Beta in the passenger seat helpfully told him as the car slowed to a stop.
Angelo cautiously stepped out, he was practically armed to the teeth, could he just waltz into the casino... of course he could.
The guards hadn’t even given him a second glance like his appearance was something they frequently came in contact with. It made him reevaluate the danger of Mafia King Nikolai’s casino.
Hidden weapons were one thing but he was practically flaunting his and he hadn’t so much as gotten flagged. There was also a possibility that the men were already aware that he would be coming, that was more likely.
He walked right for the stairs on the other side of the main hall of the casino, blending perfectly into the crowd, almost as good as he did in his nameless hoodies.
Angelo had never been to the third floor before, the last time he was here, Mafia King Nikolai had stopped on the second floor, and prior to that, he had never even gotten to the stairs before.
He didn’t spare the second floor a glance, more put off by the potential of bumping into random Alphas that bought sex than anything else, and not at all put off by the memory of the aphrodisiac... as long as it didn’t happen again.
Angelo slowed to a stop on the third floor, there was a literal wall of armed men primed to shoot down unauthorized personnel on sight, right as he got off the stairs.
If he had tried to take down the Mafia King at his casino, even if he somehow managed to get to the third floor undetected, he wouldn’t even be able to get a glimpse of Nikolai.
They didn’t point their weapons at him, parting for him to pass. Most of them wore masks which only served to make them look even more intimidating.
Angelo walked past feeling like a huge target was on his back. Very few situations made him uneasy, but he knew well that if things went south, he would be dead before he could take a single person down and it made him very uneasy.
Just like on the top floor of the apartment complex, it looked to be nothing but Nikolai’s office up here. There were more bodyguards standing in front of the first door so he knew where to go.
The door was opened for him and Angelo walked in, not quite sure what to expect. Mafia King Nikolai’s office was not quite what he had been expecting.
The throne right in the center of the large office space was surprising but at the same time, it was much like what Nikolai would do. The office was surprisingly cozy, with a lounge area and connecting bar.
