Caspian was stuck. He was stuck playing charades while knowing fully well that he would never be the woman Asher desired.
He got out of the shower and dried up with a towel, staring at his puffy eyes in the mirror, what was wrong with him? Why did everything that happened only serve to make him more emotional?
His eyes trailed down to his neck, a furrow between his brows at the unfamiliar trail of red marks.
He blushed down to his pale chest as he figured out what they were, picturing Asher leaving them. It kind of explained why he woke up desperate-
Caspian’s heart fell out of his chest at that moment. What if- Had Asher stopped halfway because he found out his gender?
He went pale, unable to shake off the feeling of foreboding that weighed heavily on him. B-But... Wouldn’t Asher wake him up if that had happened? Was he just jumping to conclusions?
Caspian absently trudged out, startling Hannah who had been laying the bed. "Sorry," He apologized, beelining straight for the closet.
His wet hair stuck to his face, still lost to his worrying thoughts as he escaped to the safety of the closet.
It got easier to dress himself the more he did it, checking through familiar pieces of fabric to choose what he would wear for the day.
"The boss ordered that you would be having lunch with him at a restaurant," Hannah said, walking in without warning.
Caspian pressed the outfit in his hand to his chest in fright, quickly covering up. "A-Alright. Could you give me some privacy?"
"Right, sorry," Hannah apologized, leaving just as silently as she came.
He couldn’t believe he hadn’t heard her walk in... Caspian could finally process the maid’s words now that he was no longer fearful that she would find him out.
He really shouldn’t be pleased by the information considering how every one of their meals together had gone but it showed that his secret was still intact so he couldn’t help but be relieved.
Other than wearing underwear to keep any bulges hidden, he decided to just stay in his robe until it was time to get dressed for lunch.
It was already late in the morning, he only had time for a light breakfast before he would get started on the preparations.
Caspian left the closet shortly after Hannah after making that decision, surprised to find the maid still in the room.
"I’ve brought your breakfast," She let him know, moving her weight from one leg to another like she had been waiting there a while. "And I’ll help you get ready."
Caspian was about to protest but she had already marched past him, slipping inside the closet.
Hannah was acting a little odd today, she was always proactive but she never pushed, only tentatively offering her assistance.
His gaze drifted over to the food laid out for him, deciding to eat first and deal with Hannah later.
Caspian’s thoughts drifted back to Moonstone and how he never really got enough to eat. He had only spent a few days in Asher’s mansion and his cheeks and waist were starting to fill out.
This was really no surprise considering that all he did was lie down and eat, his only trouble a dangerous Mafia King.
Hannah stepped out of the closet when he was almost done eating, a smile on her face that didn’t touch her eyes. "I’ll let you get dressed so I can fix your hair and face."
Caspian rose to his feet with a frown, abandoning the rest of the food. "Right now?"
He had been hoping to have a little more time, wasn’t it supposed to be a lunch date?
"It’ll take a while to get you ready, the boss likes to be punctual." She explained.
Caspian couldn’t argue, it wasn’t his place to. Asher had given an order and he had to obey it, he was just grateful that Hannah was giving him privacy without making it a big deal.
He went inside the closet, finding that Hannah had kept to her word, he wished she didn’t.
She had chosen a little linen dress that draped sensually over his body and left nothing to the imagination.
The spaghetti straps of the pale gold dress that were the only thing keeping it on his body were jewel studded.
It was a good thing that he had gotten better at tucking, and that he wasn’t prominent down there or he wouldn’t have been able to wear the dress.
The dress wasn’t even as troublesome as the shoes picked, which was saying a lot. The delicate gold heels looked like they would snap if he took a step in them, delicate straps wrapping around his shins the only thing keeping them on.
He stood upright after getting dressed, staring at himself. Maybe he was becoming jaded or less judgmental, he couldn’t tell...
When he first put on a dress, he was certain he looked like a 6-foot hairy man in a pink dress, which was silly because he was barely 5 feet tall and he couldn’t grow a beard even if he tried.
His shoulders looked slender, and he didn’t even need a corset to cinch his waist in. Or perhaps he was going a little crazy - that seemed more plausible.
"Hannah?" He called out for the maid when he was done dressing, having no plans to move in the heels unless he absolutely had to.
The maid was instantly by his side, she guided him to sit down and went to work styling his hair and putting on makeup.
Hannah had become less chatty when he didn’t return her bright energy but she remained strangely silent, not saying even a single word as she worked with complete focus.
Caspian guessed it was to his own benefit in a way, because if she tried to make small talk about make-up or hair styling, he would be at a loss for words.
It was easy to let his thoughts wander in the silence as she fiddled with his hair and face. This could all be over in the blink of an eye, he could be kicked out on the street or worse.
