Asher absently watched Jael leave his study, his thoughts preoccupied.
Cassia- no, Caspian’s true identity didn’t even feature in his thoughts, well it did, but not as an issue.
It might be a bit egotistical of him but it felt good to know that Caspian didn’t turn down his advances because he didn’t find him attractive.
It also explained why the Omega had immediately tried to run off and why he was so frightened all the time.
He supposed the next thing to do would be to confront him, but he rather didn’t want to do that. Curious to see how long the Omega could hold out for.
For someone who was kidnapped and plunged into the dark side of Haines, he had adapted rather quickly. Asher needed to see how long he could commit to the bit.
Asher would never have called himself bicurious, but there had been no reason to be curious prior.
However, as he sat scheming in his study, he accepted that Caspian made him very, very curious - in more ways than one.
Worried that he had taken things too far at lunch, he had planned to keep his distance for the rest of the night but Jael’s report had changed things.
For the first order of the night, he would be moving back into his bedroom.
He had spent the past couple of nights in a spare bedroom to be considerate of the Omega he bought, but now that he had gotten more information, there would be no need for that.
Asher shot to his feet, unable to focus on the documents in front of him. He could barely focus before Jael showed up so there was no reason to keep trying.
Caspian forgot about his worries as he started to eat, getting reminded that he hadn’t eaten lunch. His face burned at the memory of the reason why.
He ate peacefully without a single interruption, a maid coming to take out the now empty tray.
He had begun to relax as the evening wore on, hopefully, Asher would be kind enough to stay away for the rest of the night.
Caspian had tried hard to ignore the events of the day and failed. He hated how emotional he got after getting intimate with Asher, he had literally planned for this.
His secret was still safe, everything was going according to plan, so why was he such a hot mess?
Caspian was tired of lying down, so he paced across the length of the room for a bit, still wearing a robe over his clothes like a protective covering.
Although he hoped for otherwise, Caspian wasn’t as startled as he should be when the door opened without a knock - he was resigned to his fate.
He froze in place when Asher strode in, the Alpha wearing dark-red pajama bottoms, and a matching robe which he left unbelted, his hair tousled.
He watched with bated breath as Asher closed and locked the door behind him before striding forward.
Caspian silently watched him stride over to the bed and get on it without a word, he hadn’t even been beckoned over, it set his teeth on edge.
What did Asher plan to do? He wished he could see the other’s thoughts.
"Are you just going to stand there all night?" Asher finally broke the silence.
Caspian fiddled with the tight knot of his robe, "A-Are you sleeping here?" He blurted out, he needed to know.
"Well, it’s my room," Asher drawled, his head propped up on his elbow to better examine the Omega.
For a woman he was rather flat, but for a male Omega, his features were delicate, his body soft. Asher wanted to dig his fingers into his plush thighs.
Caspian couldn’t argue that, he squirmed in place as Asher stared at him, moving his weight from one leg to another. "I could sleep elsewhere," He weakly offered.
He knew without being told that Asher wouldn’t let that happen, the Alpha fully intended for them to share the bed.
Asher didn’t bother hiding his smile, amused. He rather enjoyed watching Caspian squirm.
"You don’t want to sleep with me?" He asked with faux innocence, watching the Omega color up.
"I-I just prefer to sleep alone," Caspian stuttered, flustered.
Asher laid on his back, "The bed is big enough, you wouldn’t even notice I was here."
Caspian had to agree that the bed was massive but there was no way he wouldn’t notice the Mafia King sharing it with him.
He was already on edge by Asher showing up and announcing they would be spending the night together. The Alpha being strangely chatty and friendly, made him even more nervous.
Asher usually didn’t bother with back and forths, he just ordered Caspian over and the Omega was forced to obey.
He took a tentative step forward and paused, racking his brains with a ploy to stay out of bed with Asher for as long as he could.
"I-I’m not sleepy yet, I’ll join you soon," He bravely said, certain that this would be the point that Asher would run out of patience.
"It is early," Asher agreed easily, much to his surprise. "Want to watch a show?"
Caspian took a hasty step back when the Mafia King got out of bed, "Y-Yes," He accepted, not sure exactly what he had gotten himself into.
A few moments later, Caspian was shuffling over to the sitting area. Asher had already made himself comfortable on a couch, remote in hand as he turn on the television above the electric fireplace.
"Sit with me," Asher patted the space beside him.
Caspian slowed down, he knew this was coming, the Alpha had a one-track mind.
He couldn’t avoid it forever, so in no time he was seated next to Asher while the Alpha browsed channels.
He tried not to look over at Asher, constantly adjusting his robe to make sure it hid as much of his body as possible. It helped that Asher was focused on the TV.
"Worried I’m going to make a move?" Asher suddenly moved into his personal space, hazel gold eyes alight with mischief.
