The Alpha's eyes darted from side to side like he was about to make a run for it, but the sight of one of his men bleeding out just outside the room was enough to dissuade him.
"I should be out of town right now, there was a bit of a delay." He lied weakly.
"Then I apologize for delaying you further, I've just got a couple of questions," Jael perched on a table, "It shouldn't take too much of your time."
The Alpha's sparse hair was pressed flat against his head from sweat, shifty eyes focused on the guns Jael held.
"I understand you contributed an Omega to the last auction," He started, taking his time. "What's her last name?"
Frank pulled out a dirty handkerchief to wipe his sweat, his tongue feeling like it had doubled in size inside of his mouth. "Mendez."
"And where did you recruit her from?" Jael went right on, making mental notes.
Frank wiped his face several more times, silence stretching on as he wasn't forthcoming with an answer.
"I take it that it wasn't from Ceder Lounge in Central Area?" He asked humorously, dead eyes flat.
Frank didn't even make an effort to give an answer, he had gotten cocky and this was the result. The moment the Omega they had kidnapped had brought such a crazy return, he had immediately disappeared into the shadows, laying low for the meantime.
The very last thing he had been expecting was for a Mafia King to buy him, he had banked on a small-time dealer to get him because then he wouldn't even need to worry as the auction provided a certain level of anonymity.
But after a full day and there were no immediate consequences, he had returned here to quickly pack up and leave the entire fucking country if he had to.
Mafia Kings were crazy rich after all, there was a chance that King Asher had gotten rid of the Omega almost immediately.
But his conversation with his second-in-command said otherwise, not only was he asking important questions about him, but it was also clear that his gender was still a mystery to them.
He didn't want to know how the gullible Omega had managed that but regardless, it was over for him.
He had only managed to learn the Omega's name because he had brought such a great turnout. As an Omega who had nothing of value on him, the only options were to sell him to a brothel or the auction - he was starting to wish he had chosen the former option.
"For someone in a hurry, you sure are taking your time to answer my fucking questions," Jael rose to his feet, out of patience.
Frank immediately started flapping his lips, he was doomed regardless but he might be able to make his death less painful.
"Mendez was kidnapped, he didn't ask to be recruited."
Jael had to put both guns down, a furrow in his brow as he tried to make sense of what he had been told.
"My men don't exactly use legal means to do business," He went into detail, "You should understand, you work with the mafia-"
Jael's cold glare cut him off, and he immediately got back on track.
"He was found spending the night in a park in Central Area, clearly a new arrival to Haines. He had a pretty face so I tried to get a couple extra bucks off him at the auction." Frank laid out all his cards.
"Don't know much about him, but I should still have his effects." He concluded, falling silent.
After the initial shock, Jael processed the Alpha's words faster, "And the twenty-five million?" He asked quietly.
Frank straightened up at that, he had spent enough years on the wrong side of the law to pick up the danger in Jael's tone. "In an offshore account."
"Right, right." Jael nodded understandingly, "So nothing is going to him?"
Frank fell silent again, he honestly expected the Omega to be disposed of immediately. But he had somehow managed to get the mafia on his side, this had to be karma coming for him.
"I'll take that as a no," Jael answered his own question, taking out his phone to make a brief call.
Frank was a small fry that had accidentally hit it big, and he didn't know how to handle it. Jael would have found whoever it was eventually but Frank being fucking stupid just made his job a whole lot easier.
"Pretty sure that cash belongs to him so we'll have to make some arrangements to rectify that," He went on. "While we wait for my men to get here, why don't you show me his effects?"
Asher quietly watched Cassia somehow manage to choke on his tip, marveling at how bad she was. Was it even possible to be this terrible at it? He had never had the thought before but he was certain he could do better than her.
Her earnestness was applaudable, he would give her that but he wasn't even going to get hard at this rate.
She slipped his length further into her mouth, her hands finding a rhythm, it made him hiss slightly at the surprising pleasure, refocusing on her.
