I let out a small laugh "You do know the first time was a one-time thing right? Besides you're my boss" I said
We were currently having lunch together. He had called me this morning and said either I meet with him or he comes to my house, doing well to remind me he still had a key.
I need to get that shit back
And here we are now...
"Not anymore" he replied sliding a piece of paper across the table to me
"What is this?" I asked eyeing the paper in front of me
"Read it, Ms Cyrus"
I roll my eyes and looked down at the paper, turning it over to read.
"You're joking right" I let out a strained laugh as I read the contents of the paper handed to me
It states that Mr Jaxon Smith is temporarily handing over the reins of Dell Incorporated to Mr Michael Evans as the full owner until his agreement with Ms Imaani Cyrus has come to an end... I strained off
"No, I'm not"
"How the fuck did you come up with this? I exclaimed lowly "What is this even?"
"One at a time love"
"What is this?"
"A contract." He replied shortly as he put a french fry into his mouth
"What kind of contract? And stop giving me short answers"
He laughs "Business contract between Michael and I. I knew if I should present this offer you'd say no because I'm your boss, so I changed that. I'm no longer your boss, Micheal is".
"You're crazy. You sold out your company for sex!?" I exclaimed my voice getting a little bit loud
He's crazy has to be...
"Sex with you. And I didn't sell it out, well not really I just transferred ownership to someone else for an amount of time"
"And your lawyer agreed to this. What if he does something or cheats on you?"
He lets out a short laugh "I'm pretty sure you know exactly how close Michael and I are I've told you. Now I'm beginning to think you're going to say anything to make me change my mind"
I am doing that...
"Is it working?" I asked with raised brows
he laughs as he throws his head back " No, love. So what do you say?"
I looked down at the paper trying to come up with any reason to make me say no to him.
He's not even my boss anymore so there's nothing from his end stopping me from saying yes to another one of his absurd deals, arrangements or whatever.
But what the hell was holding me back?
"This is weird. I mean what if people find out, even if you're not my boss anymore I'm pretty sure if it gets out it's going to be pretty bad, especially for me"
"It's not like we're dating or walking around the whole city in love, Imaani. It's just sex, and like you said I'm no longer your boss so that's not an issue anymore. So please tell me why in hell you're holding back?"
Oh wow...
"I dunno" I state after recovering from the unknowingly given jab
"Just think about it, Imaani I don't expect an answer now, but soon enough hopefully" he replied eyeing me slowly.
"You don't know what my answer will be"
"Well I know that you're stubborn but I also know that I don't take no for an answer, love"
"Well seems like you'll have to get used to hearing it, love. Excuse me if you don't mind I'll like to take my leave now" I get up from my seat and pick up my things.
"Wait! Take the contract with you, just in case you change your mind" he walked to me and handed me the document.
"I never said I'll sign it"
"In case, Imaani. Have a nice day" he said then placed a lingering kiss on my cheek and walked back to the booth.
While driving home all I could focus on was the document in my bag that was weighing on my shoulders like a ton of bricks.
I made sure to call Sarah and tell her to come over. I needed to talk with her.
A few minutes later, I get home and take off my shoes. I place my bag on the chair
"Sarah?" I call out to her since I got a text from her saying she was already at my place
"In here!" I head towards the kitchen where her voice was coming from
"Hey what's good" I release a sigh "Ugh thank Goodness" I state as I see she brought food and had put it in the microwave
"I'm good, so tell me how was your day with our hot boss," she asked wiggling her brows in the funny way she usually does
I laugh and grab a glass of water drinking it before facing her.
"Well first off he's not our boss anymore" I take a sip of my water again
"What do you mean?"
I had no idea how to break it down so hopefully, the document in my bag does that. I bring it out and give it to her.
I dish my food while I leave Sarah to go over the contract, I have not even read through it completely.
"Damn! If y'all don't get together in the end then something is genuinely wrong somewhere" Sarah said jokingly
"Now you know why he's no longer our boss," I said. I moaned slowly when I tasted the chicken "this chicken is fire, Sarah"
"I know, right? that's why I got them immediately after I tasted a few I knew you'd like them"
We talked about the contract while we ate and even though Jax is no longer our boss, a part of me wants to be stubborn and another part doesn't know what's holding me back from saying yes to something I want.
You're scared of liking him more than you already do...
I ignore the voice in my head.
Sarah and I clear our dishes and wash them before she receives a call and tells me that she needs to go, without even saying where she was headed. Weird.
Once I'm on my bed I search around for my bonnet and put it on before picking it up to read.

These were all my thoughts when I came across a new clause in the contract.
