"Hey Maani, how's it going?" William said stepping into my office and then proceeding to take a seat
"You've called me that every day for the past three weeks that you've been here, and I've corrected you every day of it, what's it gonna take for you to call me Imaani" I released as my voice took a higher tone than I intended
"Woah, I'm sorry I always said it as a joke I didn't mean to offend you"
I rolled my eyes and looked away from him to continue typing "Yeah right, for three weeks straight"
I'm not being mean to him intentionally it's just that it's the time of the month when my body punishes me for choosing not to have a child.
And I have to suffer the consequences with unnecessary mood swings and cramps combined with other shit.
It's not my fault he had the wrong timing.
"Let me make it up to you, please"
"You don't need to. I'm fine." I tried my best to muster the fakest smile I could
I feel like hell right now!
"I won't back down till I get a positive answer, Imaani" William says
"So you do know my name" I laughed a little
"You have a lovely smile" he let out lowly in a sultry tone completely ignoring my question
"I know." I chuckled again "Thank you, Mr Hague"
He let out a short laugh "Let me take you out to dinner Ms Cyrus, please"
"Begging looks good on you" I let out with a smirk
"Yeah? You know I can do a lot of it till you say yes" he half smiled
Those damn perfect teeth!
"So what do you say, can I please take you out to dinner.... please?
I chuckled lowly, forgetting about the pain I was feeling for a while
"Okay. But only because you're good at begging so well"
"Alright when's good for you?"
"I assumed it was tonight" I opened my bottled water and took a sip
I have no idea why I came in today.
"I want our first date to be when you're perfectly okay and not in any pain" he replied with a small smile as he got up and walked to the door
My brows furrow "How did you know?"
I know well enough that I try my best not to be obvious in public even though I can't help it
"I lived with two sisters, Imaani. I know a lot"
It made me smile
"I'm glad to know you're also quite observant Mr Hague" I drummed my nails on the desk in a slow manner
"I'm a lot of things for a beautiful woman"
Is he flirting with me...
"So I'll be expecting a day and time for our date?
The second time, it's like he keeps repeating the word date so it can stick
"Date huh?" I asked deciding to speak on it
"Yeah, well what else can I call it"
"Dinner will suffice"
He raised a brow as if in thought "Yeah you're right, dinner date... so much better" he replied shortly with a low laugh
"Good day William, have a nice day"
"You too, See you in a few days"
"Friday, 8 pm don't be late" I decide to help him out a little
He just smiled at me and made his way out.
Later that day I had no choice but to leave work early and shoot a text to Sarah and Micheal explaining why I was leaving.
Sarah knew the real reason but all I told Micheal was that I was sick and he replied to me by saying I should get enough rest and resume work when I'm fully recovered.
I almost jumped for joy when I saw his text.
That will be Monday then.
I had placed an order for an uber before walking downstairs I'm just glad I didn't change my mind about driving myself to work.
A few minutes later a black sleek car parked in front of me
There's no way in hell this is my uber.
The back seat windows slid down to reveal Jax inside
"Get it the car."
Rude!
"Thank you, but I'm waiting for someone" I replied and looked away from him
"Don't make me carry you into the car Imaani, get in the car, please" he added that please reluctantly. It was obvious
I could not help the laughter that came out of me "If you think that sorry excuse of being polite is supposed to change my mind and make me get in your car then you thought wrong. Excuse me my uber is here"
I quickly compared the plates of the car on my phone to the one parked in front of me, and then I rushed into the car before Jax could think of stopping me.
I looked back at him through the moving car I could see him completely frozen and glaring at the car I was in. I could swear his jaw might hurt from how hard he was clenching it.
I removed my phone from my bag once I heard the notification for a text message come in
You asked for time and I gave you more than enough of it. Don't hold me responsible for my next action, Ms Cyrus, have a nice day.
What the fuck does this even mean?
I know I asked for space from him and three weeks is more than enough time but I still can't for the life of me, figure out what the hell was holding me back.
I was clueless.
