The night was cool as water.
After chatting casually for a bit, Chen Mo and Queen Medusa both subconsciously turned their gaze toward the bed.
How were they supposed to sleep?
"Your Majesty, you take the bed. I'll sleep on the floor," Chen Mo said, putting on his most gentlemanly demeanor.
Queen Medusa didn't bother being polite. She removed the black cloak that had covered her seductive figure and lay down on the bed.
The candle on the table flickered gently.
Chen Mo had said he'd sleep on the floor, but as soon as Queen Medusa got in bed, he took off his shoes and climbed in after her—wrapping his arms tightly around her from behind.
She said coldly, "Didn't you say you were sleeping on the floor, human?"
"It's cold and damp down there. Getting sick wouldn't be good. The bed's big enough—we can squeeze a little."
As he spoke, Chen Mo shamelessly buried his face in her hair and took in a deep breath.
"Hope you do get sick and die," Queen Medusa muttered.
With a flick of her finger, the candle flame went out, plunging the room into darkness.
Chen Mo grinned, holding her properly now. He pressed a light kiss to her fragrant shoulder and whispered, "Good night, Your Majesty."
Queen Medusa felt the large hand resting on her stomach. Her phoenix eyes shimmered as if lost in thought.
After asking the innkeeper for directions to the Miteer Auction House headquarters, Chen Mo set out with the now-disguised Queen Medusa.
She once again cast her Serpent Illusion Technique.
The streets were bustling with people.
And Chen Mo and Queen Medusa attracted a lot of attention.
Chen Mo, dressed in white, smiled gently—immaculate, otherworldly, like an immortal untouched by mortal dust. He looked stunning.
Countless girls, mature ladies, and noblewomen swooned over him, even throwing away their reserve to strike up conversation.
Whenever that happened, Queen Medusa's gloved fingers would clench ever so slightly.
She was truly thankful she came with him—otherwise, this man might've been seduced away by some floozy.
Each time he broke free of the admiring crowd, Chen Mo would turn to her and explain with a helpless smile:
"It's not my fault I'm this handsome."
But Queen Medusa drew attention too.
A snake-person walking through the human capital? Of course people noticed.

What should've been a ten-minute walk ended up taking half an hour.

Most of them, he gave to Queen Medusa.

"Your Majesty, if this weren't such a public place, I'd love to put this on you myself."
Then he handed it over.
Queen Medusa didn't refuse—she took everything in one go.
Chen Mo stopped in front of a massive building adorned with a distinct emblem. He couldn't help but show a hint of surprise.
"As expected of the Miteer Clan—the wealthiest clan in the empire. This place is incredible."
Queen Medusa, however, felt a trace of sadness.
Compared to this, even the Snake-People Tribe's royal palace felt dilapidated.
Just how grand must the human imperial palace be?
This only strengthened her resolve to lead her tribe out of the Tagor Desert.
"Come. Let's see what's so special about this so-called 'number one auction house' in the empire."
Chen Mo turned and took Queen Medusa's hand, walking into the enormous structure that seemed to swallow people whole.
Once inside, the soft lighting washed over them, and the noise from outside seemed to fade instantly. Though just a few steps apart, it felt like entering a whole new world.
Since coming to this world, Chen Mo had been living in the Snake-People Tribe's royal palace. He had rarely visited human cities.
Now, staring at the crystal-like grand hall before him, his mouth parted slightly in awe.
Inside the hall, crystal display counters were arranged in neat rows, and streams of people flowed between them.
Each counter held strange and exotic items, with price tags beneath them—none less than 30,000 gold coins.
The customers here were a bit more refined than the average street passerby. Though they still whispered about Queen Medusa, at least no one pointed at her openly or came up to ask questions.
Chen Mo led her around for a bit, but when they reached a hallway in the corner of the hall, they were stopped.
"Apologies. Entry beyond this point requires wealth verification," said a fully armored guard with the Miteer Clan insignia on his chest, his face expressionless.
At that moment, Chen Mo clearly felt no fewer than twenty sharp gazes sweep over every inch of his body.
He had no doubt—if he tried to force his way through, the owners of those twenty-plus glares would attack without hesitation.
According to the system's scan, the strongest among them was only a Da Dou Shi.
But Chen Mo wasn't here to cause trouble—just to bind a goddess target and leave.
"How much do I need to be worth to go in?" he asked.
"That's the Xuan-tier Auction Hall. Minimum net worth: one million gold coins," the guard replied.
Chen Mo recalled that the Miteer Auction House had four auction halls ranked from high to low: Heaven (Tian), Earth (Di), Xuan, and Yellow (Huang).
The Xuan and Huang halls were open almost all the time.
But... one million net worth?
Chen Mo didn't have a single coin to his name.

A commotion broke out near one of the VIP entrances up ahead.
That area had been quiet just moments before. Now, it was buzzing with activity.
Frowning, Chen Mo peered through the gaps in the crowd.
He caught glimpses of vivid red and some indistinct, graceful silhouettes.
Then his gaze shifted downward—to a pair of long, snow-white legs stepping into view.
"Damn... legs that could last a whole year," Chen Mo muttered, eyes lighting up with admiration.
His gaze moved upward... and finally, through the gaps, he saw a stunningly enchanting face.
The woman was dressed in a bright red embroidered robe that perfectly outlined her exquisite curves. Beneath the robe, her pale legs gleamed, stirring a rush of heat in the heart.
She exuded an aura of seduction and charm. Without caring about the heated gazes around her, she chatted and laughed with two other beauties—one older, one younger.
