But Queen Medusa seemed to sense what he was thinking.
"You're expected to patrol diligently inside and outside the palace. This wasn't easy for me to arrange. Don't let down this queen's trust."
She had brought it up the day before in the high council of the serpent race.
As expected, she was met with fierce opposition from the Three Elders and Eight Tribe Leaders.
Only Baru supported her.
They argued that letting a human hold such a key position was a threat to the queen's safety—and that no human had ever been given such a role before.
But Queen Medusa had crushed all opposition with a firm declaration:
"If any of you object, defeat him in single combat. If you win, I'll revoke the appointment."
