Born In Ashes: The Enigma Chapter 38

"A cosmic energy vein..." Azrael was taken aback and looked at Silas in shock. Now that he had been in Genesis World for almost ten months, he was no longer as ignorant as before. He knew very well how precious a cosmic energy vein is. A cosmic energy vein can continuously produce cosmic energy. In Genesis, where cosmic energy is one of the most vital aspects of life, it can be said that a cosmic energy vein is like a gold mine. What shocked Azrael even more was that Silas had planted a medium-level cosmic energy vein here. In addition to producing cosmic energy, a cosmic energy vein can also generate cosmic energy stones. Cosmic energy stones are the hard currency of Genesis, and a medium-level vein can produce a large quantity of them every year. The training room filled with cosmic energy that Azrael often used also utilizes cosmic energy stones. Cosmic energy stones are the crystallization of cosmic energy, and when used along with a formation or array, they can create an environment saturated with cosmic energy. "You have put a lot of effort into creating this, huh," Azrael said, becoming even more curious about why they had brought him here. Silas smiled proudly upon hearing Azrael’s words. However, seeing his proud smile, Ashara didn’t feel particularly pleased and as a good wife, she immediately poured a metaphorical bucket of cold water on him. "You are acting like you built this relic entirely on your own. If Father hadn’t helped you, you wouldn’t have been able to finish it even now." The proud smile on Silas’ face stiffened as he turned to Ashara in disbelief—as if silently asking why she couldn’t just let him act smug in front of their eldest son. Ashara snorted upon seeing his expression and glared back at him with an expression that clearly said—I’m the only one who gets to act smug in front of my son. "Are you talking about Grandpa?" Azrael asked, ignoring both their expressions, his curiosity piqued. The ’Father’ Ashara was referring to was Silas’ father—in other words, her father-in-law. From what Azrael had learned over the past nine months, his grandfather is one of the strongest individuals not just among humans, but in the entire Genesis. Azrael had been quite surprised when he first heard about it. But on reflection, it made sense. After all, the Thorne Family is the biggest manufacturer of weapons and other artifacts within the Human Federation. Without someone like his grandfather, it would have been impossible for the Thorne Family to control such a massive market. Azrael also has an aunt—his father’s younger sister—but she had left for an adventure two years ago and hasn’t returned since then. As for his mother’s family, all he knew was that they are almost as powerful as the Thorne Family. Unlike the Thorne Family, however, the Blazehert Family holds major influence within the military. He didn’t know much about them because, from what he had come to understand in the past ten months, the relationship between his mother and her family isn’t the best. They don’t seem to hate each other, but they clearly aren’t on the best of terms either. Azrael didn’t particularly care about those people. For him, the only ones who truly mattered were Kael, Silas, and Ashara. They were the ones who had been with him since he arrived in this world. "Yes, your father was having a hard time integrating this place with the painting to turn it into a relic. At that time, it was your grandfather who helped him," Ashara replied to Azrael’s question and pointed toward the distant mountain where the wooden hut he had seen in the painting was located. "The thing we are here for is there." Azrael looked at the distant hut. It looked just like an ordinary hut one might find in a rural village. "Let’s go," Silas said in a grumpy tone, clearly still upset that Ashara had stolen his moment to show off. Ashara puffed out her chest proudly and walked forward with a satisfied smile on her face, clearly enjoying Silas’ grumpiness. Azrael shook his head at his parents’ childish antics and followed them. The hill where the hut stood was only a few kilometers away, and with Silas and Ashara’s powers, they could have arrived in an instant. However, they didn’t use their powers and instead walked at a normal pace alongside Azrael. fr eewe(b)nove.l.co\m After about half an hour of walking, they reached the base of the mountain. Once there, Ashara tapped her foot against the ground, and a staircase made of fire emerged—stretching all the way to the top. Azrael and the others climbed the fiery steps and soon reached the summit, stopping a short distance from the hut. Both Ashara and Silas wore serious expressions as they gazed at the structure. From a distance, the hut had looked completely unremarkable to Azrael. But now, standing directly in front of it, his trait Infinite Comprehension allowed him to sense a very strange aura emanating from within. Something sinister. Something dreadful. And at the same time... something immensely powerful. ’What is in there?’ Azrael thought to himself, glancing at Silas and Ashara, only to find both of them still looking at the hut with solemn expressions. After a few seconds, Ashara took a deep breath and said in a serious tone, "Let’s go in." Silas and Azrael nodded, and the three of them proceeded toward the hut. The door was made of dark brown wood, with strange patterns engraved upon its surface. Azrael suspected that these patterns were actually a formation—or something similar. Silas placed a hand on the door and channeled his cosmic energy into it. As his energy flowed into the wood, a faint unlocking sound echoed out, and the door opened smoothly. Azrael tried to peer inside through the open doorway, but all he saw was a deep, impenetrable darkness—as if light itself was being swallowed by the interior. He followed Ashara and Silas inside, and the moment his foot stepped past the threshold, a system prompt flashed before his eyes.
