I climbed down from the car and slammed the door shut. I don't ever want to do get involved in anything that I did at Gemini because of Natasha again.
Nathasha and Nathan also climbed down from the car and I leaned on the car. I favedt Nathan and nodded at the door.
"You can go rest in your room, I need to talk to Nathan," I said and she nodded before walking into the building.
I faced Nathan and crossed my arms over my chest.
"Why didn't you tell me about Corey?" I asked and he sighed as if he already knew that I was going to ask that question.
"Because I knew that it would make you angry and distract you," he replied.
"You needed to find an evidence to prove Natasha's innocence and if I had told you, you might not have achieved it," Nathan added and I sighed.
I was about to walk into the building, but I stopped and faced him again.
"Why did you think that I am supposed to be bothered about what Corey did?" I asked and he pressed his lips into a tight line, looking away.
"Let's just say that I found out what you have been hiding from everyone the entire time," he replied and I sighed internally, knowing that he already knew Natasha was my mate.
I wasn't ready to let anyone know yet. I don't ever think I can stop loving Kiara and be with another woman. I still have to figure everything out first.
I swallowed, "I was eventually going to tell you."
"Yeah, when everyone starts seeing Natasha as a hostage and disrespect her," He replied, rolling his eyes, and I raised my eyebrow, "I already told everyone off, don't worry."
I reached in my pocket and pulled out my phone. I felt it vibrate several times when we were at Gemini, but I didn't check what it was at that time.
I switched it on and saw that I had several missed calls from Viktor.
"Viktor called me several times," I said, looking up at Nathan curiously. He shrugged and pulled out his phone too.
"He called me too," he said.
He probably wanted to pass across an important information, so I dialed his number and waited till he picked the line.
"Victor, I was in the middle of something important when you called me. Is there anything wrong?" I asked him.
"No, everything is fine," he replied.
"I just wanted to let you know that another Gala has been scheduled for tomorrow," He said and I widened my eyes in surprise.
Nathan who was also listening to the conversation seemed surprised and he muttered a, 'what?'
"A Gala for the project. Tomorrow?" I asked again to confirm.
"Yes. I just got to know this morning. It is at the same venue," he replied.
"How can that be so early. Secretary Carson was just killed one week ago. Aren't they supposed to put a hold on the project because of his death and investigate the cause of the shooting and everything else?" I asked.
Here, I thought that the project will be on hold for a month or so. I no matter how much they investigate, they wouldn't find anything since it was all done by vampires from Mystic Fangs.
"Actually, they already arrested some humans that were discovered to be the ones shooting at the Gala that day," Viktor said.
Of course, Java could have easily compare some humans to shoot on that day.
"Alright. We'll be there," I said and I ended the call. Since Javier was dead, there would be no one to cause trouble.
"Ummmm. I won't be able to go tomorrow," Nathan said and I looked at him in surprise and confusion.
Why?? What was he talking about??
"Nylah and Axel are coming back to US tomorrow and I promised her I'll come see them," Nathan said and I sighed.
Oh yes, Nathan's sister and her mate.
"Well, I don't think I can go alone. I'll don't want to appear as a loner," I said and he shrugged.
"Viktor and Landon will be there," He said, "or you can just go with Natasha," he added and I rolled my eyes..
"Actually, that's a very good idea," Nathan stated and I shook my head.
"I'm not going to do that," I refused and I climbed up the stairs into the building.
"Wait." He climbed up after me and closed the door.
"Now that she is staying here, what do you expect her to do. She can't just stay here all day and do nothing. This is a great opportunity to get her accustomed to activities at Rivera and then slowly, you can introduce her to the pack," Nathan said convincingly.
"Stop talking as if she is my wife!" I exclaimed in irritation and then looked around to see if anyone was listening to us.
"She's more than that and you let Kiara do all this things and even run things at Rivera," Nathan continued his argument and I flared up immediately.
"Don't you compare her or anyone else to Kiara!" I yelled at him on top of my voice and he seemed startled for a while.
"What is wrong with you?" He asked, staring at me as if I was crazy.
"When are you going to forget everything that happened and be happy?" He asked and I was already getting tired of having this conversation with him.
"When are you going to accept the fact that Kiara is dead and sulking because of her continuously isn't going to make her any happier than you are wherever she is."
"Watch it Nathan! Don't you think you're untouchable!" I yelled out those words as fast as the regret after it came.
Nathan looked shocked and I breathed out deeply, realizing I had said the wrong thing to him.
"I'm sorry," I apologized softly, but he simply shook his head and walked away before I could call him back.
I sighed and rested my palms on my waist.
Fuck! I shouldn't have said that to him. What was I thinking??
I sighed again and began to walk to my room. He also shouldn't have pestered me about a topic he knew I was sensitive to.
Natasha coming into my life was a complication I didn't ask for. If I took her with me to the Gala, so many people would see us together.
The press will be there taking pictures and everyone will assume that we are in a relationship. I certainly cannot take her with me tomorrow.
