Lord Grania’s plans failed.
The planet he and his people attacked was going to act as one of their two major bases of operation, the second being one of the many that Grim was going to take over, which was too far for them to traverse in time.
With no physical location, the Granians were forced to remain in the void of space, roaming about until the Granian Lord came up with a plan.
In the meantime, Lords Gravax and Grania found something to keep themselves occupied with. Grania sat at a table with holographic displays of his top trusted officials and advisors, each discussing what was the way forward in the war. Because of the Ethisians and their self-achieving hyperspace ships, they needed to come up with a solution quickly before the Ethisians used that to their advantage.
Gravax, on the other hand, was working on two crucial projects at the same time.
The first was perfecting cloning, and the second was uncovering the hyperspace mechanism resting in the former High Grade’s ship.
The Ethisian ship was docked in one of the Behemoths where it was then stripped apart meticulously. On one end were piles of metal and ship components neatly arranged and organized. On the other was Gravax’s lab, where he had Ace’s body floating in a cylindrical container filled with the usual green liquids.
For the last few days, the human remained unconscious, most likely due to how much energy he had exerted not so long ago. Alongside Ace’s container were six more on either side, with three having Granians floating in them.
In total, there were thirteen containers with Ace’s being in the middle.
Gravax split his workforce into two; one handling the ship, and the other handling cloning. Assisting him with cloning was Cherry, a Blood Mutant who was becoming exceptional at creating her own clones that, in Gravax’s opinion, were better than Ace’s.
The Crimson Knight was hooked with tubes and cables transporting a few litres of her blood into vacutainers. The vacutainers were then placed in several complex machines that took Cherry’s blood and analysed them, stripping it of all its substances.
Everything from the blood’s genetic makeup to its cell count was analysed. Why was this done? Because Gravax wanted to know what was so special about Cherry’s blood that made her clones live as long as she wished.
In fact, ever since he was tasked with learning more about cloning, the Granian asked Cherry to make a clone that had existed from them till now, a total of eight earth days.
The clone lived independently, its existence completely non-reliant on Cherry. Of course, if she wanted, she could always make it disappear.
Thanks to this revelation, the Granian Lord extracted some of Ace’s blood as well, hoping that it too was like his sister’s. To his surprise, Ace’s had more contents, some he had never come across in all his years of research.
The Scarlet Emperor’s blood seemed alive, much more than Cherry’s. It even pulsated as though it had a heartbeat, and beyond that, it had a slight dark/light red glow.
Taking the two samples, Gravax mixed them with Granian DNA before inserting them into the remaining six empty cylindrical containers.
As soon as he did so, he and everyone else present watched the containers transform Granian cells into full, living Granians. The only difference between these and the regular Granians was the slight discoloration in their scales and slightly glowing red eyes.
’Must be influenced by the blood.’
"The containers to the right have three regular clones of my own making that do not live beyond a full twenty-four cycle on earth, and three clones made from Cherry’s blood. The containers to the left have three regular clones of my own making and three other clones made from Ace’s blood. Three six original clones will be the control groups for the six new clones."
After spending hours on the clones, Gravax took a couple of notes and rested. In total, this was his one hundred and forty-ninth attempt at cloning, an experiment he began before the Blood Mutants were in the picture.
Using their abilities to clone assured the Granian that his clones would be far superior to the ones the YYrejites had.
’Why learn from the YYrejites yet I have two beings here that can make far better, stronger, and independent clones. I pray this works.’
Now as the clones were maturing, the Granian turned his attention to his newest project; unlocking the Ethisian ship’s secret to hyperspace.
The ship was stripped apart to its frame, exposing every single component that was glued, welded, screwed and welded together to form the ship’s composition. To his discovery, there wasn’t much difference between Granian and Ethisian warships.
To begin with, both ships were designed with incredibly tough but light metallic materials that rested on sturdy frames, which allowed their pilots to achieve ariel moves that defied the laws of physics.
Second, Ethisian ships, like Granian ships, possessed two known weapons under the wings, two more in the undercarriage, and four secret ones at the front and back, which were well hidden.
Third, the ships had complex computing systems that made them suitable for combat and travel throughout the majority of Akrina’s unique biomes.
They were also waterproof for deep-sea diving, airtight for gaseous planet travel, and hard enough to pierce through dense cloud material.
Despite all these incredible features, it didn’t make sense how the Ethisians were able to fit a hyperspace mechanism into a singular ship. Gravax and his team spent decades creating safe and effective ways of achieving hyperspace, which birthed the use of Gates. So, how did the Ethisians manage to do that and make it safe and compact in a single ship at the same time?
"We’ve found something." One of the Granians tasked with taking the ship apart stumbled upon a strange, odd-looking mechanism he and many like him had never seen before,
The mechanism was shaped like a turret, having a barrel that stretched from its base to the base of the ship’s nose. At the base of the turret were gears and tubes that connected to a single box in the middle.
The box was transparent, allowing them to see what energy allowed the Ethisian ships to move forward.
As soon as Gravax’s eyes beheld what was within the box, his skin grew pale as his eyes widened, followed by him frantically falling to the ground before he mumbled.
"We have to get this ship as far away from us or we’re all dead."
