He went straight to the bed and laid her down gently.
Ava sighed contentedly and muttered a " Thank you " in his direction.
He nodded and placed a light kiss on her forehead before he straightened up " Have a good night rest " He said and walked away.
Ava watched him leave with sleepy eyes and turned to her side of the bed. She didn't get the chance to replay what happened in her head because sleep consumed her and she slept, feeling satisfied and fulfilled.

" Come in " Alex said absentmindedly in reply to the knock on the door. A few moments later, it opened and Emily walked in. Alex acknowledged her presence with a nod while Emily greeted him properly.
" A good afternoon to you sir " She said politely and handed him some files.
" You have a business lunch with Mr Woods in an hour's time. Should I go prepare? " She asked.
Alex nodded again, his eyes still fixed on his computer. He didn't even look through the documents his secretary brought, at least not yet.
" Alright sir " She said and proceeded to leave.
Alex buried himself in work and didn't rest until the last minute that he was supposed to leave for the meeting. His stomach churned and he hadn't had lunch yet. He stood up and shrugged on his jacket preparing to leave when his phone rang.
It was an unknown number but he picked anyways " Hi dearest " came the pretentiously soft feminine voice at the other end.
