So now I was sitting in the waiting room, my big anxious eyes fixed on the big clock over the operating room door. I'd been sitting in this petrified position for hours, just hoping for news.
In the meantime, Zara, the beta, his mate and Alex had also arrived, who were also worried themselves. Luan was still sitting next to me and tried to stroke my arm soothingly. But it didn't really bring anything.
"I'm sure everything will be fine, Lou." Zara sat on my other side, trying to calm me with her hand wrapped around me.
She and Alex were quite surprised to see me. She, too, was very worried about me and even helped to look for me. Somehow I felt sorry for all the effort, although I was safe with Luan.
My body was still shaking with excitement.
"Hush, Lou, this isn't good for the baby." Of course, Luan informed the others right away that I was pregnant. I was still wondering how Dr. Malcolm, the warrior doctor, knew that, but his son probably spilled the beans .
Now everyone looked at me like I was carrying out the 8th wonder of the world. Not even a pregnancy could be kept secret here for a long time.
But I didn't care anyway. The main thing is that my Arian survives the whole thing.
"What happened?" A dark voice finally made me look up from the clock.
"Where is my son, how is he?" When I looked towards the entrance, I recognized Arian's parents who were showering a nurse with questions. She just shook her head meaninglessly.
I've also tried asking about Arian a few times, but none of them could tell me anything about his condition, much as they would have liked to.
"Sebastian!" Luna Aurelia spotted the Beta in front of me, who rested his head on his mate's shoulder and was watching me, and simply pulled Arsen by the hand to our seating area. "You know what happened? We were just notified that Ariane was hurt."
Sebastian in front of me swallowed nervously, lifted his head and looked at the former Alpha, who just had a shattering aura.
"As far as I know, he accidentally set off an old hunter's trap in the forest and got hit by a spear. But I can't say that much about it, I wasn't there. But Lou saw it." He nodded at me.
Immediately, Arian's parents' eyes turned to me, both of them widening their eyes in surprise and shock.
"Lou!" Aurelia squatted in front of me. "Where have you been?"
I was completely overwhelmed. How am I supposed to explain that now? I opened my mouth and closed it again, not knowing what to say.
“Lou was safe with me the whole time. She needed space from Arian and she got it." Luckily, Luan stepped in and explained it for me. I hesitantly nodded my head to confirm his statement.
"Oh thank god you're fine, my love." Aurelia pulled me into a gentle, human hug. And for the first time since I'd been here, the hug finally comforted me. She radiated such maternal feelings, almost like I'm with my mom.
I closed my eyes and cried into her shoulder. Actually, I should comfort her. It's her son lying in there fighting for his life. I don't deserve this, after all it's my fault that this happened.
He was looking for me. He was so blinded by love that he didn't watch where he was stepping. And the trap was released.
If only that had never happened in the forest back then. If only I hadn't said those words to him. Apparently they weren't even true. Because earlier I realized that I love Arian so much that I just can't do without him anymore. The distance had already been far too much.
"I'm so sorry," I sobbed, more tears falling down my cheeks like waterfalls.
"Why that? None of this is your fault." She rubs my back soothingly.
"Yes." I sobbed. "I broke my promise and broke his heart. Of course he was mad about it and sent me away. But I was the one who was there in the forest. He followed my trail and fell right into the trap ran. Actually it should have hit me."
I just let it all out. It broke me inside that they all thought I was the victim. But it was my fault. Why didn't I trigger the trap while I was this way?
"Shhht." Aurelia still didn't let go of me. "It's not your fault. No one's fault except those fucking idiots of hunters who built that trap. And it doesn't matter that you and Arian had a crisis. He loves you. He loves you." and you him and that's the main thing." She broke away from me and looked me in the eyes with sincerity.
"How-how do you know I love him?" I asked. After all, I only realized it myself a few moments ago.
"I can see that in your eyes and in the product of your love." Her hand wandered to my abdomen and rested on it questioningly. "You're pregnant, aren't you?"
"Where from?" I was amazed when she, a simple person, just guessed that I was pregnant.
“Motherly call it intuitions. I've been pregnant so many times in my life that I know the process of each pregnancy inside out." A reassuring smile formed on her face.
"She is pregnant? I'm going to be grandpa?" Beside her, Arsen looked confused between the two of them.
I nodded in response.
"Oh fuck, I'm way too young to be a grandpa!"
I smiled. Even though my mate was lying there in the operating room, I smile at this reaction from Arsenic and Aurelia. They actually managed to distract me.
Just as Aurelia was about to reply, with a quizzical look, the pack doctor and the warrior kind joined us.
Their serious faces immediately made my heart sink.
