As soon as we did, I realized that there were more vampires than I thought and two were rushing towards me in a blur as they used their vampire speed to run. I was quick enough to dodge them as I moved to the side swiftly. They stopped running and turned around as they both growled at me. Both were male and looked just like the vampire that stood in front of our car a few minutes ago except one was blond and the other was a red head. They were also very attractive as you would expect vampires to be.
The blonde one raised his hand with his claws out, trying to swipe at my face, but I jerked back, missing his claws just as the other one threw a kick towards my abdomen. I grabbed his foot and threw it back at him, making him lose his footing as he fell down on the ground. The other one rushed at me again, swiftly throwing a punch at my legs. Since I didn't see it coming, my legs buckled and fell down on the ground, sprawled on my back.
The vampire pounced on me, but I was quick enough to throw a hard kick at his abdomen, making him double over in pain. He groaned as he held onto his stomach while I scrambled to get up. The other vampire threw himself on me and grabbed my shoulders as he tried to sink his sharp fangs into my neck. However, I gripped his own shoulders, pushing him back with all my strength to stop him from biting me as my heart beat faster in fear and worry.
He leaned even closer, pushing his heavy weight onto me while I tried to prevent his mouth from clamping down on my neck even as it kept getting closer and closer. Seeing that he was stronger than I was in strength, I raised my knee up, smashing him between his legs. He groaned in pain as he quickly let me go to grab onto his groin area, his face twisting in pain as he cursed me out, "Bitch!"
The red headed vampire grabbed me from behind as he wrapped his arm around my neck and pressed my back against his chest. I felt his heavy breath land on my neck which made me shudder. His lips found my ear as he murmured in a french accent, "I hope you taste as delicious as you look, mon amour."
I would have found his accent attractive if he had not been trying to bite me to my death! So I felt panicked at the thought of him biting me and swiftly threw my head back hard. My head smashed onto his nose, making him yelp in pain as he cursed and let me go. I swiftly turned around to face him to see him holding onto his bloody nose as his pale face reddened in anger, "You bitch! You dare to hit me!"
He was about to pounce on me again when a loud voice boomed from the vampire that stopped us, "Retreat right now! We have to leave now! They will perish anyway since they are headed for the Forbidden Forest!"
As soon as he finished speaking, he turned around and rushed away in a blur. The rest of the vampires followed and the red headed vampire let go if his bloody nose as his lips twitched up into a smirk, "I'll see you next time, that is if you make it out of that forest, mon amour."
He turned around and rushed away just as Alpha Clause ran to me with a concerned look on his face. His hands found my face as held my cheeks, his alluring dark eyes searching my brown ones with concern as he asked me, "Baby, are you okay? Did they bite you or hurt you anywhere?"
I shook my head as I answered him, giving him a reassuring smile, "I'm fine, Clause, so you don't need to worry. What about you? Are you okay?"
He looked relieved at my being okay, and then amused at my question as his lips tugged up into a smile, "I'm fine, my Fay, so you don't need to worry, besides, I'm a Lycan, it would be hard to hurt me."
"That's right, you're my powerful, Lycan, Alpha mate." I replied in a teasing voice as a giggle left my lips.
He nodded as he chuckled in his husky and sexy deep voice, "Yes, I am, my beautiful and strong Luna mate."
His alluring dark eyes stared into my brown ones even deeper and I felt my heart race as my cheeks flushed in a blush at the intensity of his stare. I thought that he was going to kiss me and I hoped that he would, but he pulled back and let his hands drop to his sides. I guessed that he was restraining himself because we were on a serious quest and couldn't afford to be distracted. We had to be alert at all times just like now that those vampires attacked us.
"By the way, why did those vampires attack us? Do they do know you? I thought vampires were our allies." I asked, feeling curious as I noticed the others going to their mates to see how they were except for Alpha Wyatt and Luna Ashley who were standing awkwardly beside each other.
"Yes, vampires are our allies, but these are rogue vampires and I believe Alpha Ross must have made a deal with them and had them attack us before we could reach the Forbidden Forest." Alpha Clause explained to me as he looked around too.
"Oh, I understand how it is now." I replied to him and he looked back at me, his lips twitching up into a smile as he nodded at me in reply.
He looked over at everyone as he said, "The Forbidden Forest is only some feet away from here, so let's leave the cars here and walk the rest of the way. What do you all think?"
