I don't know how long I walked through the woods but trust me when I say this I was exhausted beyond doubt, my body felt weak, my legs were so close to giving up, it felt like death itself decided to come and take me a bit early Which wouldn't be a bad decision if you ask me compared to the pain I felt, physically, mentally and emotionally. The word death sounds like relief from all this anguish.
I decide to take a rest by a small beautiful river, walked closer to the river, and bent down to take a small little drop of water to quench my thirst, then stare at my horrible reflection before deciding to continue my journey.
This journey was all about meeting this witch my father told me about in a letter. He said she had so many answers for me to clear all my confusion and I should meet her at the right time. Now is the right time, I had no mate so I was going to die, I was only going to see her ask if they were another way out of this if I could without my mate's help.
Before leaving the pack Christabel help me sneak out successfully, and thankfully no pack members could see me do the walk of shame with my blood shut eyes.
Yes, I cried my eyes out all night all because of that asshole and the most annoying thing was, a little part of me missed him and regretted rejecting him, I should have forgiven him when he knelt to beg...which I was sure was unusual for him and a blow to his Alpha male ego.
I remembered the last conversation with Christabel as we both got to the pack border.
"If your mate comes to look for you what should I tell him. "she asked with sad eyes.
"Tell Him ..tell him everything, tell him the truth, the whole truth," I said to her and continued my journey outside the pack border without looking back.
As I got deeper into the woods, it got darker, and darker making me realize how close I was to the witch coven.
I tried to open my eyes and failed before realizing they were open. Most night skies were the darkest of greys, but this one was pure black. It was like someone shut off the stars and moon, the witches hated light especially the moon because they believe the moon was the moon goddess watching them so they made a spell into casting the sun and the moon far away from their coven using false spells.
The darkness felt heavy, oppressive, almost supernatural. I soon found myself swallowed up in the nothingness, not able to see my own two hands in front of my face. My werewolf powers enhanced eyes sight were useless here.
As I continue to walk like a blind man into the woods, then a flash of light came forward and the darkness turned into red light indicating I was inside the witch's coven.
The billion-fold hiss of water dripping echoed in the cave. I kept going, even though I didn’t have a torch and I was hopelessly lost, yes they were now light -red light didn't mean I could see clearly.
It was casket-black down here and I was afraid that I mightn’t make it out alive, which I knew was a lie because I knew this was where I belong after all the reason for my creation was the witches.
I thought I could hear murmuring in the distance and when I moved towards the sound, I was thrilled to see a light shining. My fear turned to horror when I gazed upon the old crone inside.
This was the first time I was seeing her and trust me she was nothing I expected, not that I had any expectations but this was the last thing I expected.
She was hideous of appearance, mumbling to herself with that dreamy, ghastly smile. Her hair was lank and lusterless, falling around her like strings of rotting straw.
A cauldron bubbled slowly in the corner, leaving off the most infernal and rancid vapors. Bits of frogs’ legs, bat wings, and eyes of newt were scattered around the floor of the cave.
Her lupine eyes, savage and cunning, only came to life when she muttered certain arcane words from a spell. They perched above her hawkish and hooked nose. From it sprang the most preposterous wart. It was at least the size of a saucer. It would have been funny if the scene wasn’t so Stoker-esque.
Her wheezy, cackling voice rose higher and higher as she neared the end of her incantation. A row of teeth, blackened and broken into stubs, like old tombstones, lay below her fire-worshipper black eyebrows. They hinted at her cruelty as they arced up and over her dead-fish eyes like sickles. Those eyes suddenly shimmered with the spite of a thousand years as she turned fully towards me and pinned me with her gaze. She traced a leathery tongue around her thin, bloodless lips while she looked me up and down from crown to ankle. Her spindly, arthritic legs moved rapidly, like an old spider, covering the distance between us in a flash. I was transfixed. I couldn’t move my arms or legs. I was the fly on the web.
She leaned her face towards mine and I could smell the mildew and sickly passage of her breath. ” I have been expecting you”, she whispered.
She was nothing like the moon goddess whose picture I had seen as an extremely beautiful woman with long hair. She wears a crown with a crescent moon on it. Some even say that she had small horns and golden wings.
She was beautiful but this before me was a-
" monster, I know,I know I'm as ugly as a duck you don't need to tell me how beautiful Selena is, don’t forget I'm your creator werewolf or not. "she said as she walked to seat on a wooden chair
"You can read my mind. "I said in awe making her eyebrows at me.
"I mean I'm sorry. "I said to her, she wave her hands at me and led me to another wooden seat.
For some odd reason, I felt calm and peaceful seating beside her, like I could be myself.
"True beauty isn't about the outer appearance child. Take a seat dear, you have a lot to learn and know" The old witch said placing a cup of coffee on the table.
The coffee looked dark and scary as I brought it to my mind hoping it wasn't poison.
"It's not poison, I can't kill my creation." The witch said.
I nodded my head at being caught in shame and drank the content inside. I let out a long sigh, finally, I could get all the answers and hopefully the solutions to my problems.
