You're That Girl Chapter 20

There's a power that wells inside of you, the power tells you can anything and takeover the world. hold on to that power, its Girl power and it's a big deal. ........ The next day at school was a huge push-back to my former life before the debate. Everyone was obviously talking about me and I couldn't help but applaud Aisha, she got what she wanted after all. She vowed the whole school was going to b talking about me on Wednesday, and that's exactly what was happening. It was as if Jackson hadn't just died a day ago. These people were willing to forget the death of a fellow schoolmate over a stupid recording that was clearly pointless t me. What was happening to our generation for Christ sake? My mum saw the recording and didn't get the drift. That only showed how pointless it was. Or maybe she trusted me too much. As expected, March wasn't willing to talk to me, not that I cared. I just felt it was flat out stupid to judge by something you see on the internet. Lara and Tomison kept asking me to initiate a conversation with him, but I didn't feel like, in fact, I just didn't want to. "Look, we'll get us another ride to the party." I said, noticing the long look on the faces of my friends. "It's not about the car, I'm just mad that Aisha gets to get away with the nasty things she does" Lara said. "She definitely did this to kill the rumors about her family" Tomison said. "And to fulfill the promise she made to herself. But I don't care; I'm the one on the lips of virtually everyone and I'm not looking sad" "Remind me why they're talking about you again?" Lara asked. "They seem to think I'm a fool, refusing the hottest guy in the school. That's the crime I committed." "I'm starting to think maybe, just maybe these people deserve the evil-3" Lara said. "Isn't it weird? Just the day before yesterday we were calling them the evil-4" I said. "That's life for you dear" Tomison said. I totally commend myself for the way in which I blocked the existence of all my classmates. Even, when they weren't so subtle with their shades and expensive jokes. But I couldn't take it anymore. It was the seventh period and the teacher was sick and was absent from school, which meant free period for us. This guy who till this day I find it tasking to remember his name walked up to my desk, leaned on it and asked mockingly. "Hey, alcohol, Will you be my date to the Cinderella ball?" "Why don't you ask your sister, or better still, your mother? I'm sure she's been too preoccupied wondering why she didn't abort you when she found out about you. She probably needs to blow some steam" I said, with zero regret. And watched as the same people that jeered him on started laughing at him. "Don't ever involve my mum in your miserable life." "She sure didn't treat you how to talk to ladies." I shrugged and said absently. " Why don't you get your fresh brain out of my face. Or do you want to get intoxicated?" More cheers, I definitely wasn't enjoying humiliating the poor boy, but he asked for it. "Why you taking it personal, REMY MARTINS! He just asked you on a date. You turned down a hot guy, now a plain one like you comes to you and you're doing the same. What are you? a lesbian?" That was it. I rose to my feet. "Actually, I'm sensible and reasonable. And clearly, none of you are. I still can't believe that with the entire horrible thing happening around you, the death that occurred only on Monday and a couple of other trauma that each and every one of you might be facing in your lives right now? What you all are concerned about is me turning down someone I barely even know! Is that how messed up teenagers are now? We forget that a kid might have been killed in school premises and focus on teenage romance? You guys are messed up and totally unbelievable" I turned to March. "And you, I'm not telling you this to make you feel like we have a chance but, not everything you heard on that tape was genuine. I don't know what I did to Aisha to have her do this to me but guess she's just another case of a messed up teenager. Her friend died a day ago and the next thing she does is this? Think about it yourselves, does it make sense? Y'all just letting a Messed up Girl stop you from facing the real problem" and I sat down. The silence thereafter was unbelievable. I couldn't even believe id just spoken up like that. I mean, that's the longest I've ever spoken and I was pleased to see that it didn't go unnoticed. Everyone began to talk about Jax. It was as if they were trying to avoid the topic. Like me, they were also scared. I even got to talk to a few people. I was still talking to a girl about it when a junior student rushed into the class and said, "The principal asked me to come over with the class captain" immediately, everyone turned to me and I nodded, got on my feet and accompanied the boy to the principal's office. I was thrown back to find a representative of all the classes in our school gathered around in the principal's office. I was the last person to come in and it felt awkward for a while. "Good afternoon students?" the principal greeted in a sad tone. "Good afternoon sir" we all chorused. "I want to believe that everyone gathered here knows of the huge dilemma that befell our school on Monday?" "Yes sir" we chorused again. "Good. The school authority and the police department are yet to discover the cause of the murder, but the school thinks It's only appropriate that we pay a visit to the family of the deceased.
