I heard a soft snore in response to the fact that she was asleep. It might be a tiring day since she had dealt with a wedding and a fight after a long time in prison. I know I should sleep too as sleep-deprived I was. Unfortunately, my worries never let me sleep. I catch up on my sleep sometimes during my work in the office.
Lana gives me enough shit so I don't tell her that I rarely sleep at night. Ever since she was put in jail I completely couldn't stand the thought of sleeping in the bed. I sleep on the cold floor or my office chair but never in my bed. But now to see her sleeping in my bed fills me with the urge to lie down, only because she was sleeping there.
I wanted to give into my fantasy just once I decided. I will sleep for a few minutes then I will wake. I crept next to her and kept a few inches between us. I was dreaming then mainly about a time when we were happy together and with a lot of kids. Just sleeping next to her was giving me positive vibes. Generally, it would be either about war and murders or her getting killed before my eyes.
They never let me relax and sometimes envisioned people I killed right before me; they weren't scaring me but just looking helpless. I was responsible for those deaths. I never had a goodnight sleep for a long time. But being with her changed everything. Having a mate was supposed to bring stability in your life but she was wreaking havoc. Except for these times when she is slumbering, she was giving me peace and clarity. But this won't last. I can only pretend that she was this quiet woman only for so long. When she woke up I could hardly recognise her anymore. Suddenly she would become a scheming seductress who will try to hurt everyone.
I opened my eyes to see the brightness blinding my eyes. I slowly opened up to see my mate's face right before my eyes. I sighed and wanted nothing more than to kiss her lips which were slightly parted. I caught myself when I almost learned to act out my fantasy. My breath might have woken her up. She stirred and opened her eyes slowly but I didn't move away from her. What was the point of doing so? I didn't want to act as though we hadn't slept in the same bed even if I could have with my lightning reflexes.
She jumped away as though I was attacking her. I tried to suppress my mirth seeing her antics. "Did you make a pass at me?", she demanded. I raised an eyebrow at her. "Answer me"? she asked me again. "Well I have slept in the bed if that's what you mean but I haven't tried anything funny. I'm not that shit of a lover that you could sleep while I was doing it. You know", It out. She frowned at me and left the bed.
It was cold and alone so I woke up as well. "I can't believe you have the gall to sleep next to me after everything you have done", she blasted me. "What have I done?", I asked her innocently. "You kidnapped me, put me in prison and blackmailed me into marrying you", she seethed at me. "Well that sums up everything though I would like to defend myself", I told her. She was looking at me with narrowed eyes. I pretended to count with my fingers and told her," First I didn't kidnap you, I saved your life. Secondly I didn't put you there, it's all your doing. Lastly I gave you a choice ``there was no blackmail".
She huffed at this and began to walk out of my room. "Ceremony is tonight, be ready", I told her. "I will be there but if you give me anything I will sue you", she told me. "I won't give you cooties ", I smiled almost. "You can't go out farther than this building", I warned her. "What do you mean? ", she asked angrily. "I meant what I said, no wandering away alone", I told her. "I know I'm a prisoner here even if you don't put me in chains", she told this while raising her hands.
Her hands still held pink marks where the chains remained. It hurt to look at it. I know how harsh they are since they have been made to tame wolves, not humans. I felt guilty now and I was an ass for making her wear them. I should have stopped it. I gently held her hands in mine. She looked at me with suspicion. "Sorry about that", I told her. She quickly withdrew her hands and scowled at me. "I was trying to look impartial, that's why I couldn't allow anything special done for you", I said honestly.
"How did that work out for you"? she asked me. I didn't have an answer. I was so proud of myself before but now I wonder if I have done anything worth it at all. Maybe I deserve everything fate had dished out at me. My life was a parade of bad decisions and what more damage can one more do. I Learned and placed a quick kiss on her lips. When I moved back her face was aghast. "I'm sorry not for the kiss but for the chains' ', I said honestly.
"I have to go now and be ready tonight to wear something blue. It's traditional. I will send Lana for your help", I told her. She stood there unable to comprehend my actions or me. I was so done by her scrutiny and shrugged my shoulders as if I'm ok. She might be thinking of me as a deranged person. I was acting hot and cold all the time. I might be getting on her nerves. But she looked at me with unabashed hatred now. But I didn't care as long as she felt something for me.
I went back to my office and started to work my ass out. The ceremony will be held in the forest where the moon was visible the most. There will be no decorations, just the natural selves. I will wear the traditional dark blue Rob and she will too but a light blue colour would compliment her complexion.
I put off my dreaming and decided to work. I sent Lana off to help my mate. That meant I would have to work alone. But I didn't mind that, not in the least. I was already slacking with the wedding and other unmentionable happenings. I ignored my work. But I won't anymore. I had to control my appetite for her. The work was the only cure for my fever for her. It gave me something to focus on other than my sexual fantasy involving my mate.
I had finished everything by the time Lana came to me. "All done", I told her smugly. "You work as though you are possessed ", she told me. It wasn't praised but I ignored it as best as I could. ``It's time for you to get ready if you want to marry her for real", she told me, smiling.
I sighed and got up from my seat. I went to my room and saw my robe which was laid out before me. I quickly put it on and headed to the place where the ceremony is being held. My mate stood there, talking to a small girl who I have met before but forgot her name. When she saw she went still then calmly walked towards me. "Hi ", I greeted her. She ignored my greeting altogether and told me, " Is Mike going to be here?", she asked me. "I hope so", I answered her flippantly since I also wasn't that sure but he had to be here. Being a secret service doesn't always mean lying; sometimes they kept their promises too.
I saw my parents there talking to someone. They hugged and told me how happy they were for me. Earlier they were sceptical about me marrying her. Now with the ceremony, they were sure I was serious so they decided to bless me. But unfortunately, the situation remains the same but maybe they chose to overlook it.
I was so happy or at least was very close to it. Our getting married was next to impossible but look at where we are now. How do things change within a period? I wished as though this ceremony was going without any ulterior motives from both of our sides. She was looking at the singers singing in honour of the bride. I was called by Lana who was fiddling with her phone looking impatient.
" What is it?", I asked her. "They are here ", she answered. So he was here but not alone. Lana looked a little scared. I looked around to see none of my guys was there. " He is not alone. He is with someone else", she said, casting a worried look at every one. "Who is with him"?, I asked her. " A vampire", and answered, cringing at her own words.
