It's over so fast but the consequences of my action weren't as far behind as I thought. My wolf wasn't very much pleased with me right now. It was now causing a power struggle inside my brain. So my head was now split into two making me go crazy and kill someone. I pushed myself from my seat and walked towards my home.
I saw Tony following me but I stopped him in the middle. I knew I was going to be sick my wolf was revolting inside as payback for hurting its mate. If I had ordered her killing then it would have forced me to murder the person who did it. If it was myself then it would have forced me to kill myself. As I said it was a two-way sword you get to keep all the perks but you are answerable if you fuck anything, he considered important.
I somehow managed to reach my home and focused on calming myself. But it wasn't working so I went to my bathroom and threw away all my clothes and stood under the shower. The water flowing down on me soothed me but my wolf was still raging. I focused on calming myself to regain my rationality but unfortunately, it was beyond my control. I couldn't shift for a few days or else I would be risking breaking her out of the same prison I put her in. My wolf wagged it's a tale at the thought. I wanted it to shut up for a few minutes so I could have peace.
I noticed my beta outside wondering whether to come in or not. I turned around my face was as though I was suffering a great deal of pain. He got worried and started to come near me. "Don't come any close my wolf is now out of my control. I don't know how much I could suppress it anymore. Call our healer fast", I said doubling over with pain from another assault. He scrambled out of my building I tried to cool myself, but it wasn't possible because of my wolf wreaking havoc on my mind and thoughts.
" Alpha I have nothing to give you for what you are ailing from right now", said a cool voice from outside the door. It was my clan's healer. Her dark robe and slightly grey hair she could pass off as any hippie but in reality, she was one of the blessed healers our tribe ever had. "I know give me something to knock me out", I said not hiding my vulnerability anymore. She took out a small bottle from her cloth bag and placed it before me.
" Take a few drops. I hope it makes you feel better", she said. "Put it down and get out of here", I said to her. I was extremely thankful to her but I worried that I was in no condition to be social right now. My mate doesn't care for my pack at this point because whoever is considered her rival was going to his automatically and I was no different. She backed away and said," it will only hurt more if you try to anger the wolf, think of pleasant things, about the time you and your mate were happy together. Don't fight it, just welcome your love for her".
I closed my eyes and tried to do what she asked. It was very easy to accept my love for my mate. It would always be there no matter what I said and what I did. My wolf calmed down enough for me to take the bottle. I emptied the bottle into my mouth and fell on my bed. It wasn't long before I was dreaming. They were pleasant for once and I didn't open my eyes for long. It was great not to feel ashamed for feeling this way about her even now. This was how I was wired and I couldn't very well change that.
When I woke up it was already noon. Last night came flooding back to me. It was eventful at least for once I didn't mess up. But someone else did. Now was the time to fire my secretary for her little stint as a lawyer. Well, she would have been a good one far better than a secretary for sure. I put on my dress and marched out of my building. I was pleased to see that I was still in their good books because I got special smiles from everyone.
Since I was tbs the Alpha everyone expected her to walk free but I didn't allow that and also I managed to land her in jail which she would have otherwise escaped. The funeral preparations had started since I was the one who had to see her off to moon land. They waited for me to wake from my slumber. They were all kind and understanding. I called Beta who came jogging back to me. "What time is the funeral"?, I asked him.
" Your Secretary had arranged it in the evening since we didn't know when you would wake up. Almost thought you were gone, man. Why did you drink the whole bottle"? did he ask me? "For my peace of mind. Speaking of Secretary I had to have a word with her", I told him absently. " How's she?", I asked Tony. "Tired and angry. She slept on the floor without a blanket. It escaped our thoughts to put one there", he said.
I fisted my hands and said," make sure it won't happen again". "It won't we be extremely sorry Alpha", he said glumly. I nodded my head and moved towards my office which was busy as usual. She was typing something ferociously into her computer. She was smart and efficient. I would miss her. The office would soon become a hellhole now without her helping me. " I didn't know you were unhappy here. I would have let you go much before", I said, controlling my anger.
She looked perplexed for a second and said," I don't understand what you said before. You were going to fire me why"? she asked. "Because you went behind my back and saved the life of my mate. You didn't expect anything in return. I want to remedy it. How about getting fired from your job. Would that make you angry"?, I said.
I saw hurt, anger and frustration raging on her face. " Why are you doing this now. What I did to you while you were sleeping"?Her dismay is clear in her voice. "Why did you help her? Are you with her in some sick game? ", I asked her point-blank. Her eyes were huge and tears welled in them.
" I saved her because you asked me to", she said. "I never asked you anything of that sort.
You knew how much I hated her for betraying me", I reminded her. She took her mobile from her table and offered it to me. It was a text which read, Save my mate. Read out the paper I have kept in your table drawers. Make haste or she would be lost for me.
The number was obviously mine and my phone doesn't have a lock. Someone else had made use of that information to save the life of my mate. It was all very suspicious. It could be a traitor or her friend. But she didn't have many friends in my tribe. She only talked to a few but kept everyone at a distance as if saying I won't be your friend since I'm going to stab you in the back.
" You believed this random text and came swooping down to save her from the gallows", I snorted. The idea itself was ridiculous. "You are forgetting the paper I brought in the courtroom", she said as she passed those papers in my hand. It was printed so there's no hope of finding the owner. " That's all it took for you to jump the gun", I said feeling disgusted.
"I know what it is to remain alone. Being hated for what you are", she said. I sighed that she had a point that her parents were kind of Orthodox and had hurt her a lot in the process of " redeeming her", according to them. It was not only tough for her but entirely disturbing. Long story short I have put them in jail for doing those unspeakable acts to her. She now lives with her grandparents and was saving money to move out.
"I don't regret what I have done. I would do it again and again with no remorse. If you have to fire me for doing that I wouldn't mind", she said head held high. '' I wasn't going to fire you. Now I know the reason behind you doing so", I said. I wasn't entirely sure before but now with this new information. I got to know something very critical. There was someone who was helping my mate from inside. It could be anyone and I would have to find out who or I will lose everything again.
