"So what do you want me to do?'' I asked her gravely. "I want a date from you without any prejudices. Let us pretend we don't know each other", she said. " You want a date from an engaged guy"?I teased her. "Not like that. It's helping me to remember everything", she said quickly. " I was kidding. You want a date. You got it", I said out loud. "If you want to talk to Annabeth it's fine. I don't want her thinking we are going behind her back", she said with less enthusiasm. " She is fine, don't worry. She didn't mind anything, I did. This marriage is much like the business I have to do. I'm not madly in love with her", I assured her.
"Oh! Then who you are in love with", she inquired. " You want me to answer that"?, I countered. "No never mind. I didn't want to know. I sometimes don't know what I'm saying", she let out.
" Hey, relax, I was kidding, let us go. Since you caught me by surprise, unfortunately, this is going to be simple", I said. Now that I remember I never took her to the proper dates we were so busy with sex or work.
"You have never asked me to take you on dates before ", I told her casually. "Why?'' she asked. I looked at her pointedly and she blushed and smiled. " Did we do that a lot"? she asked me. "It's kind of hard to stop once it starts and we do that every day. Even if we don't get to eat or sleep", I laughed at her. She had now gone crimson. I looked at her and tried to remember how she looked in bed. It was a bad idea.
" If we sat here we won't be able to make it into our date", I warned her. She nodded her head and followed me into the door. Once we went outside the building she took a heavy breath. She was looking very sexy tonight. I held her hands and walked into the road and took a sharp turn to reach that beautiful lake. Thank God we were alone here. This was a favourite haunting of young boys.
But with the killings and war on the horizon, no one was there much to my satisfaction. We both sat by that lake and I looked into her face as she was sitting with her eyes closed. She now resembled a goddess, her wavy hair and the moonlight only adding to her beauty.
"What are you thinking"? I asked her dryly. " Nothing important have we come before me wearing a white b? ", she asked. " Yes in the first lifetime", I told her. "Even after spending some time, I'm already getting some glimpses of our past", she said. " I'm happy to help", I joked.
"Maybe we should recreate our old habits want to take a swim"?, I asked her. Her eyes nearly popped out and she shook her head vigorously. I laughed out loud this is going to be much funnier than I thought. She used to be this outgoing confident girl. I wonder what happened? Is she the same person? A look back at her face confirmed it. They are the same or else it would be a freaky coincidence. But that hardly happened, at least to me.
I shrugged my shoulders resembling your loss and began to peel away my clothes and hastily looked away. I smiled seeing her awkwardness. The things we did in the lake I hope she remembers. It gave me an odd satisfaction. I swam neatly still hoping to change her mind. But she was looking away from me to the moon. I wanted her attention so I called her. " I was serious, you know, spending time with you and repeating those things. Well, not all of it might trigger some memory", I said hopefully.
"Ok, only if you promise to behave and tell me things from our past '', she said. " Yes madam and also I promise to behave", I told her. I have nothing to wear, she worried. I gave her a serious look. She sighed and asked me to turn around. I turned and waited for her to join me. There was rustling of clothes. Then she got inside the lake.
I quickly rushed to her side excited. I know my armour was instantly lost. My distance with her was the only thing that gave me sanity. My wolf was taking over me slowly. But I left those thoughts that never made me happy. I choose happiness as my last moment of freedom with her not completely but a little.
She swam a little away from me. She was a little shy but she wasn't before. How could she change so much? But I loved this shy sweet person in whatever form she comes. I only pray she comes to me. I quickly reigned those thoughts instead of a night of remembrance I could turn it to a night of horror. How my control slipped away one moment and my pack is dead because of it.
But i'm doing the wedding for my pack. I'm ready to sacrifice everything for them. Doesn't that mean I get to enjoy a few moments of peace with her. She might have done some bad things before but she hadn't done anything worrying. She even saved my life. I assured myself I owe it to my wolf since I'm already condemning it to a life without its mate.
"Why did I wear a white robe?'' she asked me casually. I was rapidly pulled back to the present. Because you loved wearing white there wasn't a thing you owned which wasn't white. She laughed out loud. " And I fell for a black wolf"?, she said. "Yes you did in fact. You wanted me to dip myself in white paint", I said. Her expression was full of horror. " I'm kidding, woman you used to have a sense of humour", I told her.
She snorted at me and began to swim away and I couldn't help but give in to the chase. I easily caught up to her and she was panting already. "I know I couldn't beat you what was I thinking", she said. I laughed and said," I'm not invincible Tony had beaten me a couple of tries only in swimming mind you". But I could have beaten him if I really wanted but I didn't because being number 1 was tiring me.
She looked at me differently now like in awe. "You are not like other guys", she said to me. " Why?", I asked her, feeling immensely pleased. "You are the Alpha and a war hero but yet you are not at all cocky. The men I knew could really have a huge ego for even having half of what you have", she said.
" You knew a lot of men then", I told her teasingly. "Forget what I said, you are exactly the kind of guy I knew", she said angrily. " Hey don't be angry I was only kidding I said. "What ever ", she said and began to swim away from me. " Don't fight with me and ruin our date", I said following her. "Turn around", she said when she reached the end. I sighed and looked away. She went ahead and put on her clothes one by one.
I swam to the shore and turned her around. She was only wearing her underwear and me naked. But I was too hot headed to think that. "Why are you angry?", I asked her. But her eyes were wet which made me pause. " My father called me a slut for bringing a friend home when I was ten. I wanted to make a friend at least all girls hated me because I didn't have nice clothes. The thing was that they had nice dresses because of their mom and I didn't have mine. I bought myself things from the money I got from my aunt who sometimes visited", she said.
"I'm sorry mate for what you had to go through. I will kill him for saying those awful words to a child", I told her. " He made me feel bad everytime I did something. I couldn't even go on a date because of him", she said.
"It's ok I moved out and live alone. I'm happy now", she said. " And I ruined your happiness by taking you away ", I concluded. She didn't deny it immediately and it made me realise in my selfishness, to secure the happiness of my people, I may have acted rashly. Maybe she didn't deserve the hate and being taken away from home. If only I knew that then she could live happily.
" Do you forgive me?", I asked her honestly. She nodded her head, her eyes soft. "Do you hate me?", I asked her again. She shook her head lightly. I took her face between my palms and said," I love your bangs ", I told her. She smiled and closed her eyes.
