The engagement ceremony preparations were done. We had to execute our plan today otherwise shruti can never get out of his trap.
I was talking to Daksh about Pratik's laptop when the girls started getting down the staircase with Shruti.
And when I laid my eyes on a specific brown eyed beauty, I stood there openly gaping at her.
She was wearing a baby blue coloured saree with her waist being barely covered by the saree.
But that was not what took my attention.
It was her smile!
It took my heart away!
Unconsciously, I kept my hand on my heart so that it could stop beating rapidly.
I could literally feel it thumping in my rib cage.
At the same moment she looked at me.
And I did nothing to hide the fact that my heart was racing at some abnormal rate just by looking at her.
All the time when she was getting down the staircase, I was looking at her with hearts in my eyes for her.
Literally!
Not even joking.
And she was looking at me with a smile and a hint of crimson blush on her cheeks because I was shamelessly oggling at her.
"Stop looking at her like that." Abhi whispered in my ear but I did not pay heed to him and continued my admiring session.
It was when she came and stood before me, I was snapped out of my la la land.
She removed my palm which I kept on my heart to stop it from beating fast very smoothly.
"You need to learn to be a bit subtle about oggling, Kapoor." She whispered in my ear softly with a chuckle.
And dude!
I think I just did melt right there!
"Not my fault. Your damn smile!" I said to her chuckling and she just giggled.
"If you guys are done flirting can we get back to where were?" Abhi asked stiffling his laugh.
"Yaa! Where were we?" I asked getting out of my daze.
"We are here at Shruti's engagement ceremony and are discussing how are we going to remove the video from Pratik's laptop." Daksh said narrowing his eyes at me.
I looked at Shruti and Pratik and she was really uncomfortable with Pratik's hand constantly on her back.
Just then a hand slipped in my hand and she entwined her fingers with mine.
I looked at her and she looked at me with a smile and said "We'll make everything fine."
"How can you have that constant smile on your face? That too knowing that we haven't even won 30% of the battle." I asked her.
She just chuckled and said
"I believe in me. I believe in you. I believe in them." She said pointing towards Daksh & Abhi.
"We are going to give everything that takes to free Shruti from this. I know it. Now chill!" She said straightening my tie and then looked at me with a smile.
It bought a smile on my face.
"There it is! My favourite dimpled smile." She said winking at me.
Damn!
This girl!
"You're such a flirt, I tell you." I said smiling.
Just when she was going to say something, Adarsh one of my cousins came towards Ayan and said
"Dude! Pinch me." We all looked at him confused.
"Why?" Ayan asked.
"She's too cute!" He said looking at Shanaya with adoration in his eyes.
"I'm standing right over here. If you're forgetting Mr." Shanaya said to him rolling her eyes.
"Mr. Adarsh Sen." He said forwarding his hand towards her.
She took his hand in for a handshake
"Dr. Shanaya Oberoi." She said with a small smile but Adarsh was soo busy admiring her that he did not leave her hand.
"You know, your smile has been lighting up the room all night and I just had to come and say hello."
Adarsh said to her and my blood boiled.
I cleared my throat and separated their hands.
Just then Shruti called her and she went away.
"Don't hit on her." I said glaring at him.
"Man! I don't have a no marriage policy! And I'm straight. So, I don't see why not." He said winking at me.
It is true!
He is just a year younger to me and his Mom & Dad are searching for potential partners for him.
But I don't want him to take Shanaya as his potential partner.
What if he tells his parents that he likes her and then they take marriage alliance to Oberoi's?
No ! No!
"She's taken." I blurted.
Abhi, Ayan, Daksh all heads turned towards me with wide eyes.
"Really? You're just jealous I think." He said narrowing his eyes at me.
"No. He isn't lying. She is actually taken. She is my sister so you can believe me." Daksh said saving my ass and I just mouthed a thank you to him.
The engagement ceremony started and Pratik's phone was constantly ringing.
I looked at shanaya smiling and she gave me thumbs up.
Seems like our plan is working!
When the rings were exchanged and the rituals were done.
I side hugged Shruti and said
"Cheer up. Everything is going to be fine."
She looked at me wide eyed.
"You know it don't you?" She asked me shocked and I just gave her a smile.
"We are going to leave no stone unturned to get you out of this." I said kissing her forhead and made her sit beside Pratik for a few photographs.
She just looked at me and smiled.
Finally! A real smile from her after soo long.
Everyone was standing at the bar casually talking to each other and I my eyes were constantly searching Shanaya.
Where the hell is this girl?
"Aarav bhai, you're not listening to what I am saying." Ananya whined and I looked at her saying.
"Sorry. Just thinking about something." I said to Ananya when Ahana jumped in
"Something or someone, huh?" She asked wiggling her brows.
I rolled my eyes at her but ofcourse I was unable to hide my smile.
Suddenly, Shanaya came
"Aarav, let's go."
She said holding my hand.
Huh?
"Umm hmm...! Let's go. Where are you going huh?" Ayan asked wiggling his brows.
"Exactly? Where are we going?" I asked confused.
"A date." She said smiling at Ayan.
"A what—?" I asked her shocked.
Is she high?
"Did you forget we had a date today? You just asked me today morning for the date." She said and kicked my leg from behind while glaring at me.
That is when I realised!
We have a date!
"Uhh yeah! Sorry. I forgot." I said to her trying to ignore the pain in my foot.
Such a hitler!
"We'll be back." She said dragging me all the way towards the car while glaring at me.
"So, A date huh?" I teased her and she smacked my head.
"Owww!" I winced.
Never!
I repeat never rile Shanaya up!
