My phone started ringing and groaning I was searching for it on my bed.
When I got it, i looked at the phone screen to see Ayan calling me.
"What do you want at midnight, Ayan?" I asked groaning.
"Shut up & listen. Aarav is not picking his calls— he said but I interrupted him saying
"So, what am I his personal assistant?"
"Hear me out,Shanaya. Shruti has attempted sucide and is been taken to the hospital. Aarav is not picking my calls." He said and I got up that instant panicked.
"What? Don't worry. I'll just go inform him. But is she fine?" I asked moving towards my closet and put on the first pair of track pants I got.
"We can't say anything right now. Everything is just a big mess." He said sighing and hung up.
If this is because of that Pratik bitch, I am going to personally kill him!
I rushed towards Aarav's door and started ringing his doorbell like a maniac.

After what felt like a lifetime that asshole opened the door rubbing his eyes sleepily and let me add standing there without a fucking shirt.

"Can you not even let me sleep in peace?" He asked in his deep, sleepy, husky voice.

"Where is your phone?" I asked him irritated.
"I don't know. That's what you wanted to know at midnight?" He asked rolling his eyes.

"Shruti has attempted sucide. We need to get to the hospital right now!"
This sentence caught his attention and he looked at me wide eyed.
"If this is some kind of joke— he started but I interrupted.
"Are you crazy? Why would I joke about something like that?" I asked irritated.
"Give me a second." He said going in and getting back with a t shirt on and his car keys in like 2 seconds.
I rushed towards the elevator.
"Where is your phone?" I asked him again irritated.
"I don't know. I was tired, irritated, frustrated and what not so I just switched it off and threw it somewhere on the bed." He said running his hands frustratedly through his hair.
"Is she fine?" He asked in a very soft tone.
If he ever like ever talks to me in that tone I am going to jump on his bones!

I cleared my throat and said "Ayan did not mention much he just said that they are headed towards the hospital." I said and we got down from the elevator.
"Hand me the keys." I said to him forwarding my hand.
"This is no time to argue shanaya." He said in a stern tone with the same blank face of his.
"I am not arguing. You are not in a state to drive. Just hand them to me." I said with a much more stern tone.
As if it will work on him.
"Fine. Drive safe." He said and handed me the keys.
"It was all my mistake." He whispered to himself looking outside the window.
"Why would you say that?" I asked him while driving.
"I am the worst brother she could ever have!" He said turning towards me.
"Aarav, I don't think whatever you are thinking right now is rational. She actually thinks the opposite of you. Your siblings respect you and trust you a lot." I said to him giving him a smile.
He just scoffed and said
"Maybe because I am elder to them."
"Shut up." I said smacking his shoulder.
"Stop with that overthinking of yours. We've reached. Come on." I said and parked the car.
We got down and he jogged towards the reception area.
He asked about her whereabouts and they gave the room no.
When we reached the floor everyone was sitting there with their heads in their palms, very tensed.
"See there is he. Now you find the need to show up? After leading her to a sucide?" His dad yelled at him and I looked at him shocked.
I just looked at Aarav and held his hand in mine. He looked at me for a fleeting second and tightened his hold on me.
"Dad, can you just stop blaming him for everything?" Ahana said getting up from her seat.
We just walked and sat on one of the chairs.
"How is she?" Aarav asked Ahana di.
"Doctors said she will be fine. Just unconscious . Luckily Ayan found her earlier so we rushed." Ahana di explained to him and he just nodded.
I wanted to leave his hand but he had it in his firm grip.
"The patient is up. You can go in." The doctor said and one by one they started going in.
"Aarav, you're not going in?" I asked him.
He just nodded his head in negative.
"She is on that bed because of me." He said in a very broken voice.
"She bought Pratik on the family dinner today. I and Dad got into an heated arguement when I told about the cafe scene of Pratik. Seems like Dad is totally fine with them getting married. But I am not and then I just left." He said shaking his head disapprovingly.
"Aarav, look at me." I said to him softly and he turned his face towards me.
I cupped his face in both my palms and said to him
"You can call yourself anything bad but never ever can you call yourself a bad brother. I've been hearing your praises from your brother and sister to no extent. You just did what was right. She would be trapped in Pratik's plan."
"I know, but I should've been a bit patient." He said looking at me.
I just chuckled at his statement.
"Aarav, I think you and patience can never go in a single sentence."
Even he smiled at it and then he did the most unexpected thing.
He hugged me.

I circled my arms around his neck and he pulled me closer.
My breath hitched at the proximity but I knew he was just seeking for some comfort which he needs right now. Maybe he'll regret it tomorrow.
"Thank you." He whispered.
I broke the hug and teased him
"Is that a golden word coming out of your mouth, Dr. Kapoor?"
"I've been taught to use them, Dr.Oberoi."
He said smiling.

"Now go. Meet her." I said to him pushing him.
He held my hand in his and said
"Let's go in together?"
I just nodded and walked with him inside her room.
She looked a bit weak but typical shruti always smiling.
He left my hand and went towards her.
"Aarav bhai, why are you so late?" She asked whining.
"Sorry, Uhh I— Uhh.. he started stuttering but shruti kept her hand on his hand and said
"It is not your fault bhai. You've always been there for me. You were being protective of me."
"Then why did you do this, Shruti?" He asked glaring at her.
Gone was the broken, nervous Aarav.
"I want to get married to him. Everyone is against it except dad." She said.
"Yeah, ofcourse Dad won't be against you getting married to a backstabbing fucker when he is one." He said with clenched jaw.
"Aarav." His mom called in a warning tone.
"You ungrateful man, should not fill poison against me in my daughter's mind." His dad said now glaring at him.
What family drama is this?
"Will you guys shut up? This is a fucking hospital." Ahana said angrily.
"Can we take her home?" He asked to Ahana.
"Tomorrow." She said and he nodded looking at her.
"Get discharged then we'll see about the wedding dates." Aarav said and Shruti squealed but something about the squeal was very fake.
