Two Wives Chapter 25

I SET SAIL early back to the Mansion. I couldn't wait for Gabriel to pick me up like what he said last night. I also cooked them a breakfast early because it's Monday today and the couple has a job. "Good morning!" I heard a sweet voice of Alessandra behind my back, she even pulling the chair to sit, so I was immediately stunned. "How's your day off? I heard you and Gabriel went to the beach?" I quickly turned around to see the shock on my face. "Uh, I'm sorry." I bow my head. "It's fine, he tried to asked me to join with you yesterday but I really can't." She even tapped his hand in the air and laughed slightly. My eyes widened, I also swallowed the rock of my throat. Didn’t she think badly of Gabriel and me? I looked at her carefully, wearing her night gown. I could see the kiss marked on the upper part of her chest. I frustratedly looking away. That was again the delicate pain hit me. "Next time when my schedule is no longer hectic. Maybe we can go out of town," she said casually. I simply nod, while I put on the table my cooked bacon, hotdogs and fried rice. "How about Queensland Island?" I barely let go of the cutlery I was holding that made a noise. "I'm sorry," I said quickly and looked down. "Hmm, I've never been to that Island so, I'm excited to go there with Gabriel!" she exclaimed I nervously nodded and continued serving, so she didn't seem to notice my anxiety. "Aren't you from Queensland?!" she surprisingly asked seemed like just now that thing came to her mind. "Uh, yeah..." "Great, so we don't need a tour guide when we go there!" She seemed eager to say. "Could you tour us to your Island?" she added. "All right, no problem..." I smiled a bit and turned around to face the coffee maker. That thing immediately entered my mind. What if they visit Queensland? I'm sure my family be shocked knowing that Hezekiah is still alive. Our family will be influenced and I’m sure this news will reach Mom right away just in case. I still don’t know how I’m going to explain to Mom that Zekiah has another wife just in case? He certainly wouldn't like the news I brought. "Hey, how was your sleep?" I stand in froze when I heard what Alessandra said. I close my eyes again due to intense nervousness. I didn’t hear Gabriel answer, but I heard a quiet sound over my back. I also couldn’t help but hold my breath as my heart seemed to be running at speed. "I'm not here to have breakfast anymore. I have an urgent meeting with your brother Marcus." My knees seemed to soften when I heard his low voice. "Meredith, is that coffee okay?" awake Alessandra. I confusingly turned to face them holding two cups of coffee in my hand I nervously brought down the cup on top of the table without looking up. "Your meeting with brother Marcus can wait, I'll text him that you'll be late so sit down there and join me!" "No, this meeting is important. I couldn't be late, Sandra," he softly said to her. My eyes remained on the floor, as they discussed about it. "Fine! I'll just eat alone!" Alessandra's voice traced the sulk. At that point I chose to step out. I don't want to hear them arguing over this matter because I know who will gonna win in the end. "Alright, I will join you..." I was shaken as I turned in the hallway, I went straight to the back of the house to start watering the plants. While I was doing that, nothing came to my mind but what Gabriel and I did last night. I feel the heat rushed up on both my cheeks. I can still feel the heat of his kiss on my lips. It didn't bother me that I caressed him so carefully. Even the way he stared at me last night as if the world were just us seemed to tickle me even more. I was shocked to hear the engine of Gabriel's car. I slowly let go of the host and made my way down the pathway to the courtyard. I am in my mid-step when I saw them kissing and hugging each other sweetly at the garage. I swallowed and couldn't move. The familiar pain hits me again. I'll better be used to it, but I feel different now. I felt betrayed and deceive. That kiss last night seems to have become meaningless if I base it on the kiss he gives to Alessandra. I flinched when I saw them separate. Gabriel pinched her both cheek and exchange looks for a moment and whispering sweet words to each other. I stepped back so that I could turn around when I stepped on some dry leaves so it made a noise. Gabriel's eyes shifted on me, his dark eyes, burning with cold fire. I immediately felt nervous because of the kind of look he shot. I didn't mind taking a step towards the big gate for it to open. "Excuse me," I whispered, before I passed them. I open the gate carefully, I don't even leave my seat where I hold the gate handle. "I'll pick you up after work." Gabriel said to Alessandra. "Hmm, I will be patiently waiting, Dear," she answer to Gabriel. I bent down and tightened my grip on the gate handle. What is the emphasis of biting my own lip to relieve the delicate pain. When he got into the car, Alessandra backed away to wave at him. Gabriel maneuvered his car toward the back, as I approached my grip on the gate tightened even more. When his window faced me I couldn't help but look at him. His eyes intently on me, it seems like the weight of his stares on me. "Uh, good morning, Sir" I mumbled. "Lock the gate tightly." he order in a low tone. I nod and made a move to leave but my foot stand on the ground staring at him for awhile. "Uh, be careful, Sir, " I whispered, then bite down my lip. His stubble jaw clenched. He did not answer and preferred to lift close the tinted window of his car. I immediately looked down in embarrassment. "Meredith, please close that gate and follow me inside." I immediately turned to Alessandra who was now about to enter the main door. The nervousness in my heart also rose immediately. Didn't she notice something with Gabriel and me? I quickly tapped my forehead and hurried to lock the gate before reluctantly following inside. "Ma'm?" I found her sitting in her old chair. The food on the plate has not been reduced, not even Gabriel's. "Sit down, join me for breakfast." She pointed to the opposite chair. I chose to sit down to the chair where Gabriel seated earlier. "Here, you just eat Gabriel's food. He didn't even touch the food because he was in a hurry." I glanced at the plate with only fried rice and a few slices of hotdogs that were there. Gabriel didn't seem to touch it. "I don't know my brother, why he's always in a hurry when he and Gabriel have a meeting!" she said in a very disappointed tone. "B-maybe Gabriel's meeting with Marcus really important." I commented. "Yeah, I know..." She lazily said then sighed deeply. She seemed to have lost her appetite even more because she just stabbed the hotdog on the plate. "Uh, I guess you have a date later, don't you?" I teased her, and shrug a bit. Her gloomy eyes turns sparkling diamond as she heard what I said. She's very lovely... I can't deny her natural beauty. I have always been obsessed with comparing myself to her, even though I know we are much different. "Yeah, that's why I'm so excited!" A genuine smiled appeared on her face. I immediately looked down at the plate and focused my attention there. I put down my spoon sluggishly. I didn't feel much eating all of sudden. "Maybe we won't have dinner here tonight and we'll be late so don't cook too much." She added that the smile never left his lips.
