AS USUAL, all I can do here is cleaning and cooking. It's not a joke that it's hard to work at home. I'm thankful that someone came here every week to clean washed their clothes.
"Mareng, I'll help you with that." I tried to say while lifting some dirty clothes that were in the laundry basket.
"Oh, it's okay mom, I can handle this." Patting her hand in the air to stop me.
"Then I'll continue with what you put on." I prescribe again.
"Have you finished your work in the kitchen? Sir, Gab might see you and scolding you again." she stopped me.
I slightly pouted my lips as what she had said. She's witness to how Gabriel scolds me when he sees something wrong with me. It's good thing that Mareng will say this sometimes.
"I'm done, so I can help you hang up the clothes." I put my smile back to her.
Eventually she didn't do anything because I started hanging clothes on the clothesline.
"Why don't you look for another job? After all, you graduated from college," she comment.
I heave a deep sigh, "That would have been my plan, but as long as they don't have a replacement for me, I want to allow Alessandra to let me work here," I calmly answer even though I'm having a hard time explaining to everyone why I'm here.
"Have you ever tried to apply as Gab's secretary? I heard earlier that his secretary was promoted as executive assistant," she said to me while turning the timer of the clean dryer machine.
I heard about the news earlier while having breakfast because Alessandra doesn't like Gabriel's secretary named Sophia. I was also in the kitchen while washing the frying pan and pot I used.
"Then she will be promoted as an executive assistant?" she pouted her reddish lips as if offended by what she heard from Gabriel.
"That's an order from the marketing director, besides she's suitable for the job." Gabriel explained carefully.
"Ah well, I'm not happy with your decision! You are the President in that company, you have the ability to make a decision without their approval!" she said, with taunting ire.
"You know I can't just do that for no good reason, Sandra. Besides, it'll be better because she's no longer my constant companion at meetings and out town conferences. There's no reason for you to be jealous of her," he said affectionately to the wife.
Her face looked like a child when Gabriel said that, I could also see her caressing Alessandra's cheek to touch it with a kiss on the lips.
I stand in frozen while watching them kissing each other, not smack but a torrid one. Damn! I felt my lip bleed while watching that bitter scene. Those kisses were ended like a sweet scene in the movie. Their eyes were sparkling bright like a mist.
I swallowed the pain. I repeatedly swallow the fact another woman is what he worships now.
"Meredith?!" I came back to reality since hearing Mareng's voice.
"Ho?"
"Did I say what province are you from?" she asked with furrowed brows.
"My province is far away," I truthfully said.
"Kuh, eh why did you end up there then?" she narrowed her eyes at me like I was a criminal she interrogated.
"I really like the beach, so I chose this place to find a job." I explained, I refocused on hanging.
"What about your husband?" she stood beside me to help me hang clothes.
I did not answer immediately. Actually I’m still sewing a good reason for that.
"You'd better just apply as sir Gab's secretary, so that the salary is substantial," she added.
"I'll think about, " I finally spoke. It's good that we're done hanging out so I had a chance here to say goodbye.
Because it's weekend the couple is here. I caught them facing the Flatscreen TV while both were sitting on the sofa and laughing. It seems that their attention is not on the television because they busy kissing and flirting like a teen ager in front the TV.
I tasted to arouse their deepening kiss. I would not have ignored them but I couldn't help but do that.
The two quickly parted. Gabriel's eyes were firm, brows furrowed as his mouthed turned grim. Obviously he didn't like the disturbance I did. I bow my head down and bit my lip. I want to be blamed for why I did that.
Alessandra adjusted the strand of her hair and put on her sleeveless shirt before looking at me.
"Ah, Meredith, have a snack with Mareng first. Please bring us a sandwich and juice," Alessandra ordered me.
"Ah, all right..." I reluctantly followed and to head to the kitchen.
I sighed, my eyes tight as I pressed both hands on the sink. You did the wrong thing Emory! I cursed to myself.
"I don't like what you did earlier." I jump up to my feet from hearing his deep voice in me.
I was also quick to deal with it now that it is just in front of me.
"Ah – I'm sorry, I don't want to do that." I quickly said, Damnit. That’s not what I want to say. It seems like it keeps coming that I intentionally cut that scene with them earlier.
He eyed me boldly and gritted his teeth. He raised its arm to open the cabinet above my head.
I quickly looked down, but I deeply regretted what I had done because I could almost smell his scented perfume and his fragrant breath penetrating my nose.
I stand in my weak knees. I shut up my eyes with anticipation. I stepped back and leaned back against the sink. My elbows took strength from there.
"Here's the pitcher, Alessandra wants pineapple juice."
I quickly open my eyes and rocketing my gaze at him. I was suddenly overwhelmed with embarrassment at my reaction. He was still in front of me while holding the glass pitcher in his right hand. His eyes looks darker and emotionless.
I tried to smile at him to hide my embarrassment. "All right..." then I quickly reached the pitcher out from him. When I took it, my finger accidentally touched his hand so I couldn't stop myself from pulling my burning hand.
"I'm sorry..." I said to him. I don’t know how to act right in front of him without even affecting my fingertips.
He stayed in front of me, while I seemed to want to be swallowed by the earth out of sheer embarrassment. It's not right for me to act like this in front of him knowing that Alessandra is around.
"You didn't finish your job if you just stand there and bow your head for no reason," he directly said, and put down the pitcher on the table, but no sooner that I had the thoughts he is now turning and walking away.
Fuck!" I cursed when he left the kitchen.
"Oh, what happened to you?!" Mareng asked when she noticed my pale cheek.
"It's nothing, maybe I'm just tired," I lie.
"Well then, rest first, come and sit down.." She pulled me to a chair which I quickly followed to sit down.
"As for you, I told you not to help with the laundry." She scolded me.
"It's okay, I'll just make you a snack." I forced a smile on her and started to stand up but she firmly restrained me.
"I'll do it, I'll do it," she said to me. I don't like that idea because Gabriel might suddenly appear here again and see me not doing anything.
"I'll help you, I'll make the juices." I insisted and she didn't stop me either so I just let it do it.
I served the tuna sandwich and pineapple juice on the table where the couple Gabriel and Alessandra were sitting.
"Thank you," Alessandra muttered to me while her eyes were on TV.
I stepped back slightly and glanced at Gabriel. My heart was pounding because his attention was focused on me. But as before, it looked even darker on me, even the tension of his perfect jaw seemed to weaken my two knees.
"Enjoy your snack, just call me when you need anything," I nervously said, words stuttering in my mouth.
I couldn't wait them to answer because I quickly turned around to go back to the kitchen with broken heart.
Meredith!" I almost jumped in my chair when Gabriel called my name Wednesday morning.
"S-sir?!" I hurried to meet him holding a white shirt. But my lips immediately parted because she was not wearing any top. His broad chest welcomed me, the slice of his damn abs protruded, as if I was watching a fashion show at the famous clothing line in the country.
"What is this?!" I blinked my eyes, and carefully examined his polo shirt.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to burn that. "I lowered my lashes, both cheeks flashes with fear.
"You don't mean to? Look what you've done to my shirt, don't you know how important this shirt is to me?!" he angrily said.
