I WAS just blown away by the violent wind in the air, so I turns out that they have a resemblance to Alessandra.
I sighed again before continuing. I can’t help but think of how it would appreciate Alessandra’s family. was a bitter smile on my lips, so was Hezekiah to me then, especially my family, ً so I can't blame him for why he's so good for Alessandra's family.
When I finished cooking I chose to go inside my room to take a shower. A wore a simple T-shirt and black leggings. I went out to hear the laughter coming from the living room.
I heard Alessandra's laughing from the distance, I turned out that she came from work. I was about to enter the kitchen when Alessandra called me.
I quickly approached them and Hezekiah kept his eyes on me.
"Meredith, I'd like you to meet my older brother Marcus?" she turn sideways to corner Marcus next to her.
"Yeah, I met him earlier," I replied back and smiled timidly.
"Oh?" She glanced at his brother who was now staring at me. "I know what's on you mind, Marcus!" Alessandra's told Marcus ً, then teased him.
"What exactly are you trying to say, Alessandra?" Marcus asked her with amusement on his face before I glanced at his serious face.
"Back off man, she's already married." Alessandra declared, before I glancing at me.
I heard Marcus smirked, "Silly girl."
I just smiled at them after Marcus messed up his sister's hair. I glanced at Gabriel for a moment who was now quietly watching them while sitting on the couch.
"Ah, I'll just set the dinner, excuse me!" I say goodbye to them. I felt Alessandra following me so I turned my gaze at her.
"Did you buy everything on your list?" Alessandra asked me when she walks toward the kitchen sink.
"Hmm, I bought everything. The change is in my room, I'll hand it over to you when I'm done serving dinner."
"No, leave it to you, in case you have suddenly buy more spices for what you want to cook, that's all you have to use. Oh, if you want to buy something for yourself," she said to me.
"N-no, it looks like I bought everything. I don't want to buy anything for myself. I'll hand over the change later." I insist.
She look stun, and her cherry lips slightly open with astonishment. "Okay," she said to me, seemingly unable to believe what I said.
That's right, I don't want to buy anything and if I want something, I'll buy it with my own money. I can buy it on my own way.
"Wow! It looks like you cooked your specialty tonight?!" she comment on the food as I serve the dish one by one on the table.
"Of course not," I replied.
"You know I can be jealous with you, because you know how to cook. I'm sure your husband will always have a happy stomach because you're good at cooking," she praises, eyes were amazed.
I smile then shifted my eyes. "He also taught me to cook either," I bitterly said.
"Really?!" She almost jumped in panic, "I also want to learn to cook so that I can cook for Gab someday..." she said before sitting down at the chair.
"I–I can teach you, If you want..." I murmurs, I want to be the only one to hear but I saw her face lighten up on me.
"Are you sure about that?" her question seems skeptical to me.
"Of course, I'm just anyway, so why not." I agree, before simply turning around to face to took a plates and spoons.
"I can't thank you enough, Meredith. Now I'm excited," she told me and stood next to me to get the glasses.
"No problem," I quickly said. I didn't fake a smile, after all I was the one who suggested it so I'll stand up.
"Oh wait, I'll call the boys so we can eat."
I just followed herl with my gaze as I traced the smile on my lips, but little by little it faded away due to various emotions. I don’t know how far I can stand this game. Especially to assume I'm not affected.
"Hmm, the food is great." Marcus commented looking at me.
I didn't want to join them for dinner but Alessandra insisted, especially since she offered the dish I cooked to his brother.
"Right, brother? You should look for a woman like Meredith who can cook for you. It's not just beauty that you always looked for a women," she bitterly said.
Marcus, arch an brows at her. "I presumed you implied that to your self too, silly girl," he fight back.
I noticed his eyebrow furrow at his brother before glancing at Gabriel.
"Honey, it's okay with you that I'm not as good at cooking as Meredith, is it?" she asked softly to Gabriel before leaning on his shoulder.
Gabriel smiled sweetly at Alessandra, before answering.
"Of course, sweetie... I know you are better in everything you do, actually I missed your cooking right away," he sexily said to Alessandra, while pinching her nose.
I quickly averted my gaze so that I wouldn't add more pain to my heart. Unexpectedly, I catch the stern gaze of Marcus. There is something about him that I couldn't explain. I think he watched my every reaction to Gabriel and Alessandra's sweet moment earlier.
I quickly averted my eyes and sipped the glass of water in front of me to immediately stop drinking.
"Meredith right?" he gravelly said to me.
"Yeah," I simply said.
"How old are you?" he asked again, while staring into my eyes.
"I'm 25..."
He barely glanced at Gabriel before me. "Did you finish school? I mean, what course did you graduated?" he continued.
"A business management." I answered truthfully, I don't know why he asks me certain things about my personal life but if his question goes beyond that, I'm not sure if I can answer that really.
"Hmm, I think it's better if you work in the office than work as a maid here, what a pity you ended up if you don't use it?" he comment, then shrug a bit. But he sounded like he was suggesting something.
"I agree with you brother-in-law, I don't think she is capable of doing her job being housemaid." Gab, interrupted and shot me a lucid glare. Like Marcus it obviously didn’t seem to believe I had entered as an maid here.
Marcus nodded at him. "You have any experience about business management, marketing or what?" he asked for the third time.
"Yeah, I came from the high end construction firm at Queensland Island, several months ago as secretary." I lied, and bowed my head.
"Hmm..." He stare at me and nodded with disbelief.
"From secretary to being a housemaid?" he question me. I felt a sense of wonderment.
My lip twitched to sew a lie again but Alessandra cut us off quickly.
"Are you interrogating my housemaid, Marcus?" she asked, sounded irritated.
"Of course not. I'm having my back ground check here." Marcus said, stay cool and relax at his chair.
Alessandra shook her head irritably. "I know your point brother, I already asked her a frequent question, so I'll tell you. She's passably good.
I noticed Marcus sighed at what her sister had said. He never spoke again and just continued eating.
I didn't even look up. I thanked Alessandra for defending me. If this continues they might find out who I really am and that's what I don't want to happen.
