Roman winked at her while handing her the car keys.
" What could I possibly do for you? She asked kinda ashamed
" Not about you. C'mon be yourself. Lola is your friend right?
" Lola, yeah. What about her? She asked pretending to be oblivious. Roman runs after anything in a skirt. She wouldn't want her friend to know such a person would she?
" I like her. You can help me with it, right? I'll do anything for you in return" he smirked. Audrey wondered if he's a man of principle like Lucas.
" Well, I can try but it's her choice. I don't know you that well " she said shrugging her shoulder
" Of course. Create an opportunity for me to meet her. I'll take it from there. " He suggested
" Okay. Do you want to see her now?
" Yes. Does she live here? Wait you live together? He asked stunned
" Different apartment. We're adults. Give me a minute" she said sending Lola a message
" What about Ava, is she single?
" Nope. She's in a serious relationship. Stay away from her. " She warned making him laugh.
" I'm not Lucas you know. I'm Uninterested in her. Is she coming? He smirked sitting on her brand new Ferrari.
" So what are you going to do for me in return? She asked crossing her arm on her chest
" Take you to Luke. I can tell you're looking for an opportunity to talk to him since he saved you from falling to your death. " He muttered smiling seeing her surprised face
" Don't be surprised. We've been friends for thirty years now or so. We grew up together. You're safe with us ." He winked looking at her bandaged hand
" He's with Jenny now. How is that possible? She asked
" Don't you know luke? He's totally into you. He's confused at the moment. Jenny isn't the one he wants. She's wasting her time. How is your hand?
"I can move them now. The bruise will heal eventually. " She stated as Lola and Ava dropped by
" Audrey, what's the matter? Are you having pain? Asked Ava cupping her cheeks
" Not really. Roman here is taking me to see Luke. I can't go alone so. You're free right? She asked as they nodded looking at a grinning Roman
" Right now? Asked Lola staring at a mesmerized Roman checking her out
" Yep. He's still in the office and I think you want to discuss something else too " he suggested standing close to Lola who went to Audrey's side to avoid contact with him.
" Are we using your car or what? She asked thinking of returning it to him if he ignores her.
" Yes. We are. After you Lola, Ava" he said with a smirk. Audrey shook her head. A player will always be a player.
Ava and Audrey watched as Roman opened the door for Lola while she went to the other side to enter. She wouldn't want a man like Lucas. No, it's not her turn. Ava and Audrey laughed at her behavior. Didn't she brag about being the almighty one? Why is she running away from being courted?
" She's scared" whispered Ava to Audrey though Lola heard it. Indeed she was scared. After witnessing Audrey's pain of losing Luke, she wanted nothing to do with anyone associated with him especially a playboy.
" How ironic" she teased Audrey
" I can hear you, girls, you know," said Lola trying to avoid eye contact with Roman who was looking at them through the side mirror
" Just admit it," they said in unison mocking her
" Whatever. You're so not helping" she hissed turning away from them.
" Lola, can we go somewhere else to talk? There's something I want to tell you" he said tired of been ignored
" I ..... What do you want to talk about? She stuttered disappointed at herself for losing her confidence. Well, that's what you get for being sold by your boyfriend.
" You'll know when we get there. " He smirked. Ava and Audrey whispered to her to listen to what he has to say
" Okay," she agreed to glare at them. So much for regarding them as sisters
" Thanks. Audrey you girls can take it from here, right? He asked pulling over at the front of Luke's company
" Yes, we can. Thank you" she uttered. stepping out of the car as Ava followed laughing at Lola's sullen face.
" It's just you and I now" he stated seriously driving away as Lola ignored him.
He stopped at a diner, opening the door for her as she stepped out
" This way. We have a lot to talk about." He started leading her in
" I don't suppose you think I'm one of those girls that you use and dump right? She asked nonchalantly
" Who said you were? Have a seat. " He chuckled drawing a chair for her. A waiter came over to take their order handing them a menu
" What do you want from me? Asked Lola dropping the menu on the table
" You know what. Look I don't care about your past, or who came before me or my ex's. Just us. Our past is in the past. I don't want to know about it and I'm sure you don't want to know about mine either. Let's have a relationship and if it works out between us then fine and if it doesn't we go our separate ways but you've to be faithful to me and I sure will. What do you think? He asked staring at her dazed eyes.
Lola didn't think he will say all that. She only hopes it doesn't end sorrowfully as time goes by.
" Well, young man. If you want to date me, you'll have to court me for a month to win my heart. Fail and it's a no from me but if I'm moved, hell you'll have a mind-blowing relationship" she smirked acting bitchy.
" Deal. A month it is though I doubt it will take me that long to kiss your succulent lips " he winked as she rolled her eyes at him.
Ava and Audrey entered the glasshouse heading to Luke's office coming across Vanessa.
". Ava, Audrey, what are you guys doing here?
" We're here to see your boss. Is he busy? Asked Ava
" I'll have to check if he's scheduled for an appointment," she said leading them to her office while they ran into Bobb who was coming out from an elevator.
" Miss Audrey, I'll take you to him. " He says grinning
" I think I should go back to work now," said Vanessa giving bobby a kiss
" Yeah thanks, Vanessa," they said in unison. Bobby smiled as they trailed behind him.
He pressed the bell to his door. He signaled for him to enter reading some documents with glasses on. Audrey's heart skipped on seeing him after two months, her heartbeat increased. She could hear it beating rapidly.
" Sir, you have a visitor," said Bobb to a workaholic Lucas still writing
" Tell them to come back in twenty minutes. I'm busy. I wasn't informed about their appointment" he said nonchalantly
" Okay. It's..." He was cut off by him
" I assume you're not deaf Bobb," he says raising his head dazed to see Audrey looking at the floor this time.
" You can go, Bobby. " He started glaring at him. Bobby chuckled and left.
" Don't just stand there. Have a seat girls " he said pointing to an executive chair
" Thank sir Lucas," said Ava tapping an ashamed Audrey who wouldn't meet his eyes
" How is your wound Audrey? He asked staring at her
" Better all thanks to you" she stated looking at him. They stared at each other without batting an eye. Ava looked at them smiling. They must have missed themselves she thought.
Audrey suddenly felt hot from the intense gaze as she held the urge to fan herself despite the air conditioner. Therefore lowering her head as Luke cleared his throat.
" To what do I owe this pleasure? He asked still looking at her quite disappointed she stopped looking at him
" I learned you still have a part of Ivy's company. It's my dad's hard-earned money and I wouldn't want it wasted in respect to his lovely memory" she stated as he furrowed his brow
" Are you here to buy it from me? Or bid for it? He asked nonchalantly waiting for an answer
" We wouldn't say that Sir Lucas, we're here to strike a deal since you said it's not for sale. " Said Ava as Luke relaxed in the chair in expectation
" I'm offering you thirty percent of the shares without an investment. Take it as debenture for ten years. Is that good enough? It's negotiable though" said Audrey
" It's negotiable," he asked raising a brow intrigued
" Fine. When you find your mom we'll talk about it okay? He said looking at her pondering face
" Of course. Audrey, it's better that way. " Said Ava staring at a blushing Audrey. She shook her head.
" Alright. Thank you for saving me, Luke. I owe you my life. I thought I was going to die. Thank you" she stated finding it difficult to believe he would come to her rescue despite the fuss between them
" I promised to take care of you, shield and protect you. I'm just keeping my words nothing more " he stated as she nodded.
" There's something else. The attending doctor in Texas died sixteen hours after I talked to him. Can you check on that too? She asked puzzled
" Alright. Finding your mom is my priority. Is that all?
" Yes, thanks. Thanks so much, Luke. I'm sorry for hurting you. I..." She stuttered as he cut in
" That's in the past Audrey. Let it be. You may leave if that's all " he muttered
" Sure," she said dejectedly
Ava stared at him trying to figure out what he wanted from Audrey by saving her. Surely he's still in love with her maybe too egoistic to admit it.
Audrey stood up to leave while Ava trailed behind but didn't leave she let Audrey out returning to the room alone to see Luke's eyes closed.
" What is it? You've something to say? He asked coldly
