" My name is Victor, a detective from Ukraine. I've been on this case for almost a year now. We received the death certificate of Patricia Zachary. She had her doubt so she made a claim to it assuming it was her mother and it's so unfortunate that she isn't. " He explained
" And how did Rosalind's body find herself here? Someone must have put it there" said the detective on the case
" Ivy jerkins my aunt told me the tomb was my mother's. She's the one that buried her. I just claimed it a few months ago. " She added as the detective wrote it down
" Where can we find this Ivy jerkins?
" I don't know but I have her number. You can have it tracked. As you may know, I've just found my way home after the long time kidnap."
" You were kidnapped? An elderly cut in.
" Yes. Eight years ago. "
" Where were you kidnapped?
" LA. Anyway, I've nothing to do with Rosalind's disappearance. Whosoever lied to me that my mother was dead put her there. I think Ivy is the only one that can explain it. " She suggested as they jotted it down
" You must be Rogers girl. I was in charge of your case. Your aunt later closed the case declaring you dead"
" Yes yes, I am. how did she prove it? She asked curiously
" She presented a picture of you and a DNA confirmation so we had to file it as a missing case" he announced as Audrey made a mental note on it. It must have been a picture of her capture
" So you have the file, right? Asked Victor thinking of seeing it for himself
" Yes, but I was transferred here. I guess it's in LA"
" Miss, Is he the one that paid for the research? Asked the forensic scientist
' no I did" she claimed
" Someone called us. We had to send for help from the headquarters according to his pay. This result is out earlier than anticipated" he added
" Hmm. Thanks for the update" she stated shaking him
" I think we're done here. The police will take care of the body perhaps return it to her family. You did good Audrey" commented Victor
" Aren't they been weird letting me go just like that? She asked curiously. She expected to be detained till they find out the truth. And who sponsored the research? Lucas? She shook it off. He would have told her.
Victor knew what transpired and why the cops are letting her go but didn't say anything.
" You're lucky Audrey. Very lucky' he muttered leading her out of the building.
Ivy was told the police didn't arrest her as she planned. She was agitated. How did she escape her plan? Who helped her. Surely Victor doesn't have power in Texas. Does she have a backer? And who he remained a misery to her but she'll find out. If Audrey went scout-free It means her plan backfired so she decided to vacate her house and change her plate number.
Having a mother to look up to was a good thing but how is she going to find her was another thing. Ivy knows where she is. Though she decided to visit the city's hospital first to see for herself.
She inquired about her mom but found nothing then she changed her name to her maidens name still no match..she felt frustrated then found her name: Patty jerkins. She smiled and frowned. She has been discharged. Ivy discharged her two weeks ago?.
She inquired for the attending doctor and asked if her mother was awake? Victor was surprising they were so cooperative. He scoffed Lucas is one heck of a man. Paving the way for her to find her mother.
The doctor nodded as her smile brightened but soon faded when she heard she was mute.
Why is her mom mute she thought. Asking more questions. The doctor answered every question she asked without keeping a thing to himself though he didn't know where Ivy took her to.
Victor wondered how much Luke had to pay to make them that cooperative. Ukraine is far from Texas yet it wasn't difficult for him. He looked at a worried Audrey urging her to calm down.
" We'll find your mom okay. Calm down. She needs to see you fine and healthy too okay?
" Yeah but he just said she's mute. What did Ivy do to my mom? Oh God please keep her alive" she prayed to join her hands together to pray
" Hey, she's fine. There's a reason she's keeping her alive . I Trust that reason . She won't hurt your mom". He urged as she nodded
" I should have her number tracked. She has suffered enough. " She said walking out of the hospital with guilt.
Here she was condemning her mom when she's suffering. Now that she was in love with someone she understood her mom. Losing the one you love isn't an easy thing. It seems she took her Mother's heart but hopes she doesn't treat her kid's the same way. Well, she intends to give her kids all the love in the world but with whom? She didn't think she'll find a man as smitten as Lucas.
" Audrey slow down. You won't find her this way. She's probably gone. You have to calm down and think. Don't rush it. She knows how much you love your mom. She won't hesitate in using her against you if you don't calm down" he advised as she stopped wiping drops of years from the corner of her eyes
" Fine. Are you saying that the cops won't find her?
" Yes but not today. Remember she was a millionaire perhaps a billionaire. She has a connection"
" Whatever. I'm going to find her one way or the other. " She vowed walking to the car.
The police tracked Ivy's number but she was nowhere to be found. They put men to watch out for her.
Victor was driving back to the hotel glancing at her sometimes to check if she was still angry. She was busy typing on her phone sending messages to her friends. He saw a rang rover that has been following them since and sped off. They quickly trailed behind. Victor outran them driving into the hotel gate which was shut immediately.
He looked and saw them waiting outside though they tried not to show it. Pretending to be road cleaners and delivery men. Victor didn't want to worry Audrey as she was in a bad mood. He thought it through and decided to call the only person that can get them off their backs before they enter the hotel in disguise.
" Yes detective," said the baritone voice
" Mr. Hamilton, we're been ambushed. Ivy's men are surrounding the hotel waiting for us to come out. "
" My men are on it. Where's she?
" She's fine. Though her mother's news took a lot out of her. You did so much already sorry to bother you" he assumed waiting for him to refute but he ended the call instead. He'd paved the way for her. How ironic. He giggled ready to go to bed.
