Though Lucas wasn't a gang lord he had Bobby who controlled a secret organization of trained men like a security service which his grandfather founded before he died. He sent for Bobby who was there within seconds.
" You called for me sir"
" She's having issues in Texas. Send the boys her way to keep her safe and get rid of the goons lurking in darkness to harm her " he ordered as Bobby felt bad seeing him aloof and cold again.
" Yes Sir. Are there other things you need help with? He asked worriedly
" I want her alive Bobby. She deserves that much" he muttered
" Yes Sir. If I may Sir, I don't see anything wrong with what you found out. You can't blame her for hiding it. You've quite a temper and ... I wouldn't dare to say" he stuttered as luke raised a brow for him to continue
"You have an intimidating personality and no regards to human feelings sometimes forgive my words. It might have scared her after seeing you at your worst. Remember how you met her, how you fell for her. You pretty much called her a prostitute and she was scared her past confirmed it. I know Adrian spite you but he's not your enemy. Give him what he wants and I'm sure he'll keep his mouth shut which will give you enough time to settle things with her." He said boldly as Lucas stood up from his seat, paced intimidated to him like a hawk and a chick challenging him head-on.
Bobby swallowed a mouthful of saliva as he met his deadly gaze.
" How would you know if you haven't experienced it? He challenged
" Believe me I have. It'll shock you to know it didn't matter to me not after hearing those women complained about being sold out and napped from their families. None of them volunteered for it. Viola forced it on them. A girl as stubborn and violent as Miss Audrey must have gone through a lot before yielding. You know she's not the submissive type. " he said sighing
" Idiot. I did forgive her but Adrian stepped in with his slams. He didn't force himself on her" he snapped
" Perhaps she had no choice. You've seen the kind of person she is. She carries the heavy burden of finding her mother. She has changed. Don't fall prey to her assumption. You're hiding here protecting her while she could move on before you realize she's worthy of you. " He curtsied and left wondering where he got such guts from. It feels nice challenging him.
Lucas wasn't a bit offended by what he said. To him, Bobby simply stated the fact. He knew she was faithful to him and was in pain that she had to beg for his love and sincerity that he vowed to do just that without being a jerk. He upheld the vow vanquishing his annoying tongue.
Is Vanessa the girl Bobby was talking about? It finally dawned on him. Are they prostitute too? Ava, lola, and Vanessa? He furrowed his brow at his idea. He isn't Bobby he had a reputation to uphold and his family too. He might not reconcile with her for eternity but he'll see to it that she finds her mother and reunite with her perhaps watch her fall in love again while he tortures himself for losing such a wonderful person.
He never thought he could hurt this much to love someone. Now he knew why his brother took the bait Viola set up. He knew he wouldn't have arrested her. She didn't know Preston at all. Just like Audrey didn't know him that much. She probably thinks the worst of him. Not that he blames her, he was a jerk.
He muffled remembering the first day he met her. She was wearing a black knee short suit up smiling brightly at him though he pretended not to notice it. He wasn't phased by her body but her hazel eyes that hold mischief to her. He smiled at the memory of taking her on a cruise. How tight she was when he had her for the first time. How possessive she was. How clingy she became. He can't believe their time together will be just a memory in his head.
And it's all Viola's fault. She made Audrey that way. He can't be with her all thanks to her. If only his brother was alive, he would have accepted her past no matter how ugly it is. But it's different now that he had Hamilton's legacy to uphold perhaps he could put Bobby's suggestion into motion. It could work but not now.
He was brought to reality with a knock on the door from Jenny. He beckoned her to come in.
" Good day sir, you promised to take me shopping today. You know for the media to spread fake news about us" she smiled at the last part
" Laughable though. I have changed my mind. Get out"
" Luke, when will you forget that slut" she stated in agitation as she saw luke inches from her in anger
" Shush " he yelled. He just hates it when she's referred to as a slut since he found out about it.
' I'm sorry. I want you to move on. I know I'm nothing like her but I equally love you perhaps more than she did " she preached
" Really? And you aren't scared of me?. I assume? He asked raising a brow
" I know you're short-tempered. I can live with it. Luke, I'll be a good woman to you. Give me a chance" she uttered standing head-on with him staring. What a perfect man. She couldn't help drooling at his handsomeness licking her lower lips
" You're insane. I think I'll tell your father about it. I can't do business with a crazy person" he spat out scornfully staring at her embarrassed and angry face.
" I'm not crazy or perhaps you are the cause. For twelve years my heart longed for you. Twelve years Luke. I deserve recompense for loving you. I deserve a little bit of your love. " She wept sniffling as Luke rolled his eyes in mockery
" That's your business, Jenny. Take your pathetic self out of my sight. You disgust me. " He started taking his seat
" I can help you forget her. Like I had her portrait shoved out of your former office. I want to erase her seduction from your head that is if you'll let me" she stated as a mild but shocking slap landed on her face which shut her up abruptly
" You touched my things? I want that portrait back in the next five days or Ill burn the fingers that touched them" he threatened as Jenny regained herself thanking God he controlled himself unless she would have been mute or wounded or worse like Adrian who spent a month in the hospital before the discharge.
Without a second thought, she sprinted out of his office to get the portrait before it's taken out for recycling.
Lucas ran a hand through his hair wondering when he lost control of his anger. What did Audrey do to him? He always had control over his emotions at times like this yet he lost it. First Adrian, Viola now Jenny. He feared she took a part of him that was agonizing. Losing control isn't something he can live with.
