Miatta
I woke up the next morning, feeling like a new being. It was true that we had gone at it for hours like the animals that we were, sex a new experience that I had found to be addictive. Perhaps it was that wonderful because I was having it with my mate but I wanted it no other way. His smell was all over me and my heart swelled with pride at what I had accomplished the previous night. He had left me come on top just once and I had worn his patience twice with my slow, deliberate movements until he had groaned out loud and turned the tables on me. We had made love, what, four or five times? I had lost count of my orgasms when I had woken up at dusk and found his head between my legs, eating me out until my eyes rolled back into my head.
Lucas was a sex god and I had trouble keeping up with his bull-like stamina, having lost some of my battle-ready fitness. Now, he laid on his stomach beside me, fast asleep in oblivion. His dark hair stumbled over his eyes and he was stark naked under his furry blanket. The morning was still early so I let him sleep some more. I got out of his bed and tiptoed to his window, looking out of it and breathing in the scent of wild flowers and wet soil. The trees lined beyond his window and increased until a forest was formed. The walls ended where the forest started and there was a small path there. I froze in discovery, cleaning my eyes with my knuckles. I looked again and saw the small path leading out of the pack, partly hidden by the forest. Had it been there all along?
I glanced behind at Lucas, who had not stirred a bit. I must have worn him out and somehow, I felt a strange pride. No doubt, I ached especially in the area he had done the most exploration but the soreness served as a memory. I had a little walking impediment which was so worth it when I recalled the events of before. I had to see that path for myself. The door only creaked a little when I eased out of it on the balls of my heels to reduce noise. Ryker only raised a brow at my urgency and I stopped, thinking fast of an excuse.
“I have to. . . do a female thing,” I said lamely, playing with my fingers. He gazed at me, his stoic face set in stone.
“Please hurry back, Miatta. My Lord will have my head if he wakes up and can't find you in there.”
I nodded, suppressing a small smile and would have continued walking by when a thought struck me.
“Is he that possessive with all his lovers or do you know what I think you do?”
He actually shrugged carefreely, his great shoulders rolling backwards. “I only know what my Lord cares to let me know but at the risk of petting your pride, in all my years of being at his service, I have never seen my Lord this gobsmacked by a female. Please hurry back,” he repeated and assumed his usual nonchalant stance. I was out of the courtyard in minutes, darting left and right for palace guards and seeing none, I kept to the trees. I disappeared under their shelter and walked around the thick trunks until I got to the place where the wall stopped. The grass there was trampled and few, probably scattered by feet and a path was indeed there. I stood at the beginning, nervous of what I would find on the other side. There could be warriors posted there and if I was caught, even Lucas couldn't save me from the fate that would await me.
“You can do this,” I motivated myself, slapping my cheeks and shaking my head in agreement with myself. I squatted low and duck walked down the path, crawling alternatively sometimes, anything to hasten my movement. I got to the end finally and throwing a stick ahead of me, I waited to know if anyone would run in that direction but no one did; I was alone and I could barely see around me in the soft morning light. I got up and walked forward, testing the ground and soon, I was running. I had found the secret path out of the land of my captors and I could leave right away.
Mate, my lovesick wolf muttered dreamily and my excitement died. She was right: I could leave but I would never be happy, never be complete without my mate beside me. If I hadn't found him, maybe if I hadn't already mated with him, I wouldn't have had any grudges keeping me from leaving. But now, leaving Lucas was cutting my nose to spite my face. Sadly, I returned within the walls and tiptoed back into the Hall of Alphas. No one was in the courtyard either and I walked freely, no longer afraid of being caught. Cutting shortly into the next hall, I ran into a familiar enemy and a cold fist gripped my spine.
“Miatta,” Beta Logan said my name like a curse. “What a lovely surprise. I have been looking for you.”
Lucas
I rolled over in my bed, reaching out for Miatta and touching the cold, empty space beside me. Immediately, all drowsiness left my senses and I was awake, throwing the sheets off the bed. She was neither in my bed nor in the room. Anger and panic got mixed up somewhere in my brain and I swung off the now unpleasant bed, not caring that I was naked.
“Ryker!” I yelled and he jumped into my room, falling to his knees, not wanting to meet my eyes. “Where is she?”
“I tried to tell her, my Lord. . . but she doesn't exactly listen to anyone, let alone me.”
My hands were shaking and my wolf was seething, seeking various painful ways to end Ryker’s life. He had let her leave, knowing how pissed I would be. I stalked towards him, my knuckles cracking and resetting when I caught a whiff of her scent. Just like that, my anger drained out of me as she waltzed into the room with my pelt tied at her chest. I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply, aroused by the sweet mixture of vanilla and lilies that dripped off her. She stopped before me and cupped my organ possessively, sliding her gaze upwards seductively and instantly, I was hard. My pelt barely got to her thighs and I could see her curve of her ass.
“Leave us,” I ordered my bodyguard and he scurried away quickly. She smiled and grabbed at my locks at the base of my head, bending my head to hers.
“Why were you scaring poor Ryker, Lucas? I didn't go very far.” She had me in her hand and she was speaking so calmly.
“You left me in bed and went to get a shower in that. I can't have anyone looking lustfully at what is mine,” I grunted, feeling her fingers tightening around me. She stroked underneath, attacking my balls with deft fingers and I was proudly hers, branded and owned. Her brief absence had turned me to a caveman and now she was in control yet again.
“And yet you stood naked in your room, putting what is mine on display? What if a slave had walked in?”
My nakedness was the least of my worries and yet she was right. It was right about time for my room to be cleaned and a slave would have seen me in my basic state. It was then I understood why her back was up and we were both in the wrong.
“I didn't realize. I am usually comfortable in my nakedness,” I admitted and she took her hand away abruptly. Without warning, she peeled away the pelt, letting the heavy cloth fall to the floor and with it, my jaw.
