When everyone had taken their seats, the drumming took on a faster pace, its attendant sweating profusely. Then forth came Lucas’ parade, with Addy's group leading the parade with their charismatic dance moves. Other slaves followed behind them, spilling flowers as they went on and singing his praises. Some warriors followed after, brandishing their bone daggers and swords. Gunpowder exploded in the air, chasing birds out of their hiding place in honour of their Indomitable Champion. Lucas was at the tail of the parade, dressed in a white leather attire that was like a second skin. It glued to and merged with his body, revealing the power in his back and his arms. A crown made of entwined white gardenias was placed on his head and he walked gallantly like the prince that he was.
The pride I felt to be his mate swelled in my heart and I fanned myself to catch my breath. Who would have believed that just the previous night, the competent wrestler before them had been entangled with me under his sheets? I closed my eyes briefly to reminisce on the best night of my life yet until the noise around me indicated that the parade was getting to my booth. Rising to my feet, I picked up the scarf he had given me along the dress and waved at the entertainers. Addy threw a rose at me, winking mischievously. She was happy and I could see the radiance rolling off her, evident also in her excited dancing.
When I bent over to pick the rose, she and Ramona hijacked me and drew me into their dancing circle. I indulged them for a few minutes, watching their agitated steps and trying to follow up with whatever they were doing. Ryker must have noticed when I grew tired because I only had to look at him once before he came to my rescue. I waved goodbye to my friends, bowing out from the dancing and returned to the safety of the booth. Beta Logan’s eyes clashed with mine and I lowered my gaze immediately. I had decided that he was bluffing as there was no way in hell I could leave Lucas. He was my mate and what was more, he was obsessed with me, the first person I knew who loved me for me. He loved me when I was being crazy, when I was screaming blue fire at him and when I was happy. He had patience to listen to me and he had an excellent performance in his bed duties. What else could I possibly want from life? The Moon Goddess had been extremely generous to me and I was grateful.
The parade stopped when Lucas was in front of his father’s booth. He fell to one knee and bowed his head in submission. The Lycan King stepped forward and patted his head once, granting him his blessings and approval. Lucas got up and bowed to him respectfully. The crowd cheered, the noise cutting through the night. I longed for Lucas to look in my direction and when he finally did, I did not realize that I had been holding my breath. Our communication had been pretty brief but I caught the last three words he mouthed to me before he went off with the parade.

As my parade left the arena, I had a good look at my potential opponent, Hanjo. I had heard so much about him and wondered how much of it was mere fable and which were true. The shifter was as big as a house and the ugly markings on his face made it difficult to look upon him. He was hairy even more than I was and he was not a lycan. He was from the region of the werecats, the same region as Yvette. He was accompanied by the Alpha, Yvette's father but unfortunately, Yvette would not be allowed to have any contact with him. Combining that with the disappointment to losing the dance contest, the prefect was in for a terrible day.
I went into the space reserved for me and sat down for a while to think about what I did earlier. I had not planned to do anything but when her eyes met mine, I literally choked on the spot. It was like she was looking into my soul and it was bared open to her. I struggled to breath but I could only see her and by the Goddess, I wanted to forget the scenery around me and run away with her. It was then the words fell out of my mouth. I could not take them back neither did I want to but if I didn't touch her in the next minute, I might disintegrate. A slave brought me an über glass of water and I gulped it down in a go, giving it back to her. Once I had regained some of my strength, I returned to my mate, pining for her proximity.
Miatta sat regally, her back straight and her head inclined towards Ryker’s ears. The two had become close obviously in my absence and it was of her advantage because Ryker was loyal to the bone. Ryker lifted his head and seeing me approaching, he left Miatta’s side, moving further into the booth. Miatta twisted her head towards me and the worry that had been there earlier was gone. My sweet yet troublesome mate was back and I had missed that mischievous glint in her eyes. She did not rise to bow or curtsy before me and that was fine by me. I had gotten enough from the other slaves and from my people.
I sunk down beside her and instinctively wrapped my arms around her, burying my nose in the graceful curve of her neck. She smelled of freshly plucked lilies, vanilla and the woman she had become after only a day in my bed. Her heat period had passed and she wouldn't be crazy about me like before but I planned to drive her crazy for all long as she would have me.
“Lucas, the whole pack can see you,” she warned lightly yet she bent her neck to a side to give me unrestricted access to her collar bone.
“So? I have a reputation to uphold, you know. I'm known for being unable to withhold my passions for too long. Right now, I want to peel back this obstructing dress of yours and sink deep inside of you. You make me think of bad, dirty things that I want to do to you, Miatta. Goddess, I need to touch you more than I need to take my next breath.”
She rolled her eyes into her head when I found her nipples peeking out of the bodice of her dress. Despite her mild warning earlier, she wanted me too and I could smell her instant arousal. Her hazel pupils danced in her bright eyes, desire burning up in them. It would have been a painful punishment to not be wanted by one’s mate.
“Did you mean it?” she gasped, squeezing my thighs tightly and pricking me with her long nails. “What you said to me earlier, did you mean it?” She grinded her ass against my groin urgently, the sexy nymph and I praised my father’s wisdom for providing the booths. The drums went off again and my lips went to her ears regardless.
“I meant every word, dearest. I love you, I adore you and I cannot wait for tonight's festivities to be over.”
