Rafael walked out of the hospital after making sure, no one except the doctors and nurses entered his wife's hospital room, the doctor already confirmed she wasn't waking up anytime soon, so he had to do the needful to make sure she gets justice, not even her parents were allowed to see her, he wouldn't let them, he held them accountable for what happened to his wife and their child, if only they had been able to get through to Natalie all of these won't have happened but they didn't, they were so slow about it and he felt stupid to have left everything to them, he could have stopped Natalie, he delayed, now look what that has caused him, nevertheless, he would still make her pay.
He went back to the office when he got there, he forgot the reason he had come by, he didn't even think of what he came to do back at the office z he was just too confused and had just driven there without anything in mind, he got back in his car and dove back to the hospital without doing anything, his security officer called him while he sat in his car thinking.
"Sir, the lady is in custody and she is requesting for a lawyer,"
His security officer revealed.
"Good, She shouldn't be let go, I want her to suffer just as much as my wife and child did,"
"Yes, sir, but the thing is we can't keep her there as there is really no much prove that she did anything, and it won't take much time before they release her, she was brought in for questioning and she can't stay there as she is not even talking she is in shock, and has been crying nonstop,"
"Don't tell me that Thomas, I want her there, she shouldn't be let go it definitely her, she did something, my wife couldn't have fallen from the stairs just like that and Natalie was the one with her when it happened, I don't want her out, I spoke to the commissioner already, I don't want her out,"
"Even that won't hold much power, except your wife says something against her we don't have anything on her except that she was there when she fell,"
"I told you not to say such things to me," I am paying you for a reason, get the police chief on the phone, if he doesn't want his job taken then he better find evidence to keep her there,"
"I am not at the station now, I will once I get there,"
"You better do that,"
Rafael replied and ended the call, he called both Caleb and Grace and told them what happened, they were the only people who truly cares about both him and Nicole, the only ones who has been there for the both of them, Grace especially has been there for Nicole even though she had uni to attend she still make out time to talk to Nicole, she had been sad when he told them his child was no more, he hung up after a while, sat in his car, still too in shock as to her from bad to worst events have turned in less than five hours.
His phone rang, he picked up without looking.
"Yes?"
"Sir, your in-laws are here and are demanding to see your wife,"
His bodyguard revealed, he told him to not let them in and hung up, he got out of his car, he didn't even realize he had stayed in the car that long, he got to the entrance of Nicole's room while her parents were trying to get in.
"Excuse me, but you can't go in there,"
He said, in a loud commanding voice which made them turn towards his direction, he walked to them.
"Rafael, why can't we see our doctor?"
Her mom asked, she looked frightened but that didn't daze him, if they had done their job as parents right, Natalie would not have done what she did and Nicole won't have landed in the hospital.
"You can't see her, she is currently not up and no one is allowed in,"
He explained trying not to get mad.
"Okay, that's understandable but can you tell your men to let my other daughter go, you can't just arrest my daughter,"
His father-in-law said.
"I can and I have done that,"
"And I am telling you to undo it, let Natalie go, it's bad enough that her sister is laying here at the hospital, you can't make it worst by arresting Natalie over what is obviously an accident,"
"With all due respect, ma and sir, I am not going to let that happen, I don't care what you both say, Natalie went far and you guys didn't do anything to stop her, I tried not to step in even when all she did day and night while she lived at your house was ruin her sister er to the public, I could have done something but Nicole was looking at for her sister, she didn't let me, I tried my best to do this the right way but right now, I don't care, I lost a child because of your daughter and she has to pay, because her my wife is laying on a hospital bed, who knows the kind of traumatic experience she would have when she wakes up and find out our baby is no more?"
Rafael yelled at his in-laws, they had to be joking with what they were saying, they could have stopped Natalie but they didn't, they did nothing, he won't be surprised if the only reason they showed up here was because he had Natalie arrested.
"I understand your pain son, even though we didn't know Nicole was pregnant, we understand, we are sorry it happened, no one predicted such an unfortunate thing was going to happen but this isn't the right way to go about this, I am sure Nicole won't want her sister locked up, Natalie was in distress when she had called us, locking her up would only make that waste, it won't fix anything,"
His father-in-law said, Rafael did his best to control his anger, there was no point exchanging words with them, he already knew what he was going to do and he won't let anyone stop him.
"I don't have time to listen to you, I don't care, the person responsible for the death of my kid and landing my wife in the hospital, need I mention that there is a chance that she might not be able to conceive ever again? So if you want to talk to your daughter get her a lawyer, excuse me,"
Rafael said and left them there, as he left he made sure to remind the hospital that they weren't to allow them to meet Nicole, he didn't want them near his wife, he drove home, got what he needed to spend the night at the hospital and drive back when he got back, she was still sleeping, not like he had expected to be awake but he had hoped.
