The meeting took a total of three hours, each department striving to impress Alex with their reports. Their reports looked as though there were just surface scratches and nothing deep apart from one problem where their accounts were missing a million dollars this month. At first, the money losses had been negligible, but at present, they had spiraled out of control and now there was a leakage of a million dollars.
That immediately got his attention. The finance department did not have much to say as they did not even realize how the money was lost. Angry about that particular incident, he concluded the meeting. He knew that he had to take things into his own hands and conduct a thorough investigation, besides as he looked over the finances over the years, their companies were headed towards a downfall. He had to do something and fast. Smothering a yawn and a fast-building headache, he buzzed his secretary who dropped into his office with coffee. Sweet old coffee to jumpstart his mind.
Planning his work, he decided that starting from the main hotel, he would vet every employee. They had to up their game to keep up with their competitors. His things to do plan had investigating the theft in his company, vetting his workers, and then afterward he would know what to do.
Being up on her feet for nearly twelve hours was taking a toll on her and her feet looked extremely swollen in her fitting shoes. She winced looking at them, immediately deciding she could steal a nap in one of the empty rooms. Communicating with Theresa she slipped off to the first floor, where she moved to the furthest corner. There, she opened a suit and readily lay sprawled on the spread bed. Sleep had come to her so fast that in minutes she had been snoring.
Snaps of places appeared on her mind, st Luke orphanage. A young girl in a pink dress sat on the steps to the cathedral, which stood tall and imposing behind her. Her face had streaks of dried tears marring her beautiful face in two distinct lines. She clutched a bear doll in her hands across her chest. Opening her mouth, she was calling out to her mom, she must have been around two years.
Soon, she felt as though she was locked in a house, darkness encompassing her, then red, bright red filled her vision, followed by a slam of her head into something hard. That was what propelled her up. Her dreams had become disturbing as time went on and she could not figure out what had been going on. She felt fear engulf her, causing her to shake, yet she did not understand what she feared. Standing to stretch from her short-lived sleep Grace rearranged her dress and decided that she had had enough sleep for the day, she tried forcing some joy into her system but she could not even find a reason to smile. She felt melancholic, and, overwhelmed and surprisingly, swelling of tears beneath her eyes.
Pushing every distraction away, she pushed her thoughts towards that handsome stranger in hopes that she could at least lift her spirits. Taking her time, she walked down the stairs, reminiscing the moment they had met, she had been captivated, enchanted, unable to look apart as his eyes held hers.
He had been the most delectable specimen she had ever laid eyes on and she totally had a crush on him. On Monday, she got off to go and book her appointment in the hospital. her alarm went off and she got off the bed. Trudging her body towards the bathroom, she stretched and yawned and at the same time. She felt a rush of overwhelming joy and excitement at the prospect of jumpstarting things. Apart from her nightmares that had become increasingly disturbing with time, life was good. Everything was getting set for her baby. Splashing some water onto her face, she looked at herself in the mirror. She looked and felt different. Her eyes had a sparkle she never thought she had, she was becoming darker, and even though it was not evident, she was having trouble fitting into her older clothes.
Feeling refreshed from her shower, she hummed a song as she moved towards her room. Standing before the full-length mirror, she twirled around like a child, bubbling with excitement. They would make it through, things were already starting to look up. Looking through her range of clothes, none of which held her taste as of now, she picked faded jeans, a top that said I love life at the front, and dressed. Wringing her hair of the excess water, she tied it up in a ponytail and in a rare occasion of excitement added a splash of red lipstick, just a little.
Walking out, the morning sun streamed out, looking ethereal. Sunlight passing through the trees lining the pavement from their residence. Breathing in the fresh breath, she decided that she would walk right to the hospital, besides it had been long since she had taken a walk.
