18 years ago in Mystic falls.
The evening sun cast long shadows on the ground. The slanting rays of the setting sun gave a warm orange ting to the sky.
But a certain group of people were in no mood to bask in it's warmth.
The atmosphere was thick and dense with pressure for the incoming war. A war born out of hatred and betrayal.
Inside the Queen chamber stood two women and a baby.
"Here, everything you need is inside this bag. take her far away from here, where no one will ever find her, but if things turn out well, you both can return ``.said the woman. Her emerald green eyes reflect guilt, pain and sadness.
"Yes my queen, I will take good care of your daughter. I promise". said Lena.
"Now go" Queen Felicia ordered. Lena turned around, ready to leave when she heard the Queen's voice.
"Wait !
Queen Felicia called out, rushing to meet her daughter, who was sleeping soundly in Lena's arms. She kissed her forehead. She dipped her hand into her dress and brought out a bottle containing some liquid and emptied the content into the little girl's mouth. Faint glow emanated from her birthmark and slowly spread through her entire tiny being.
"You must find your way back to your people" the Queen whispers softly to the baby.
She retreated a few steps before looking up and gave Lena a nod. Lena turned away and quickly left for an unknown location.
The Queen watched as both figures disappeared from her sight. Her eyes were reddened by pain and guilt. The pain of separating with her infant daughter and the guilt of not being able to protect her young infant. But she knew sending her away was the best decision. Her enemies were hungry for power and revenge.
The Queen had to dress herself. She had sent Lena, her personal maid, away with her daughter. She wore a simple dress before walking out of her chambers to meet the rest of the warriors, who were already fully prepared for battle. she walked Infront as they all marched to the place where the dark Witches and her entire coven of dark witches stood, ready to fight to their death.
"Annette, you don't have to do this, we are friends" Queen Felicia spoke, she stood a few meters away from the dark witch and her coven.
"Hahaha" the dark witch laughed
"Friends?You call yourself my friend, yet you stole my man. you mated with him, got pregnant and even birthed a daughter" Annette yelled scornfully, her eyes were filled with rage and hatred.
The Queen took a deep breath and sighed.
"It just happened, Annette. You know how the mate bound works. No one has control over it, not even myself. I will never take your man if he wasn't my mate, but I'm sorry, and besides you already killed him. you killed my mate but I still don't hate you" the Queen said.
Clenching her fist at the thought of her dead mate.
"And I will kill you too and make your daughter's life a living hell," Annette laughed darkly. Felicia became enraged by the mere mention of her daughter. She would never allow anyone to lay a finger on her daughter, the witch included.
"No one threatens my child. I have tried to let you see reasons but I can tell you are beyond it already"
"War it is then" declared the Queen.
Immediately, the witches charged toward the Queen and her army. Casting spells that caused roots to grow from the ground and trapping some of the Queen's army. Seeing how her army was almost subdued, the queen became enraged.
She let out an extremely loud and shrill scream vibrated through the air, sending the witches flying and cutting the roots that had entangled her army. The scream pierced through the witches eardrums, drawing blood and weakening their powers.
Annette groaned painfully as she tried standing to her feet. Her eyes scanned her surroundings and her eyes landed on the rest of her coven who were already lying weakly on the ground. Her eyes darkened.
"Go home Annette, you have lost the fight"
"Never, I'd rather die, '' Annette spat with fury. She crouched down and placed her both hands on the ground and chanted a dark spell.
Suddenly, the atmosphere became denser, the clouds darkened like it was about to rain alongside the swirling of wind. The ground trembled and the earth soil began to rise, sweeping most of the witches and the queen's army into the swirling wind. Annette had a smirk on her lips as she watched as the people including her co witches got swept by the wind. Annett had a painful smirk on her face. The dark spell had blackened her heart.
"Annette " the Queen calls out, barely managing to keep her feet from being swept with the wind.
"Stop, you are killing everyone, including your people"
"I will only stop when you are dead" Annette retorted.
Annette drew a circle on the ground, then she picked up a stone and cut herself and the blood dripped into the circle. She uttered a few spells while her gaze stayed on Felicia.
Felicia's eyes widened at the realization of what Annette was up to, but tried to react but it was a little too late as Annette had already concluded the spell.
Felicia dropped to her knees, clenching her chest in pain. She coughed out blood that stained her dress. Annette held a wicked gaze as she slowly rose from the ground, the heavy wind and the clouds were gradually returning to normal. Annette took slow steps to stand Infront of Felicia, her formal friend.
"Where is your daughter?" Annette demanded. '' Oh come on, don't be like this, you are going to die anyway, I just want to care for her on your behalf". Annette smirked.
But instead of letting Annette question her or force her to speak by casting a truth spell. Felicia dipped her hand into her chest and quickly pulled her out her heart. Her body dropped to the ground lifelessly.
Seeing the lifeless body of her ex friend did not help to soothe Annette's anger or quest for vengeance. She wanted the child, and would never rest till she got a hold of her. She would make life measurable for her little thing and then kill her at the end.
Enraged and disappointed, Annette vowed to do everything in her power to find the girl.
