The Alpha's Fairy Chapter 13

Alpha Luther POV Laura was wrong about the faires taking it well. Some were happy, and some were in shock. Several wanted to go home, but they were stuck with a wolf Alpha King with no home to go to at the moment. Sammie and Shelby were, of course, happy. One good thing, Laura no longer felt like she had to hide how she felt about me. She could be open and honest with her tribe. After the initial uproar, the faires did calm down. The calm was good for Laura and helped ease her mind with everything else that is going on in her life. This was one last thing she had to worry about, she could relax. "Give them time, they will all come around," I tell Laura as I hold her hand, leaving the doctor. Even the fairy doctor was pleased with me as Laura's choice. "I had to be honest. It was not right to lie to my tribe. I know my parents thought I should hide it, but I felt it was time, to be honest," she says as I take her to the truck. "Where will we live?" she asks me. I touch her knee and smile. "We will work all of that out. We can stay here with the fairies in these cabins for now. You will be close to your people, and I can keep an eye on them and you," I say. "Sounds good, except that we will have tinks watching us make love at night," Laura says. "Well, I am getting a lock for the doors and windows. Maybe some heavy dark curtains," I say to Laura. "You think a lock and heavy curtains will keep a tink from spying on us," Laura laughs. "True, I guess we will have to run away and hide," Luther says. "So what do we do next, King Alpha?" Laura asks me. "I think we would check the tribe lands, now. We need to see what the damages are today," I say. "I agree. I wonder if the castle is still standing. Would you live there with me if it is still standing?" Laura asks. "If my pack is welcome in the tribe lands, then yes, I would. The pack would get a vote, and then I would decide. I cannot uproot them and move away with you, no more than you can uproot the fairies and move away with me," I say. "I did move away with you. I just did not tell them," Laura says. I drive Laura and me toward the fairy tribe lands. She is right. I asked her to leave her life for me, but am I willing to uproot my pack for her? What are our options in this mess that my mother created? I want to know why my mother did this? First, I have to help Laura check on her tribe lands. We have to understand what we are dealing with, and we need to know today. I look in the mirror to see Ando and Argo following us. A few of the faires fly past us. I guess they knew what we were up to when we left, or maybe they want to get the hell away from the wolves. Either way, they should be going too. With Ando and Argo with us, I can keep the faires protected while we survey the damages. We pull into a grassy field that is just before the fairy tribe lands. I stop the truck and park. I get out and go around to help Laura Angel out of the truck. Two of the fairy council people are waiting for us. They look upset we took so long. We drove, they flew what did they expect? Ando and Argo follow Laura and me. "I am going to go ahead of all of you, and Ando is going to stay in the rear so that we can keep an eye on everything," Argo says. Argo takes his wolf form and speeds ahead of us. A few fairies go with him. Probably not what he wanted, but he keeps going without a fuss. Ando waits for us to walk ahead of him, and he follows us as we cross into the fairy tribe land. "There is a lot of smoke, Luther," Laura says. I turn to her. The horror on her face is heartbreaking. "It will clear out with time," I say to her. "I cannot see if the castle is still standing," Luara says. If the castle is still there, it will do her some good. Just to have something left of her family. "If it is not there, I will have a castle built for you, my love," I say to her, hoping this will set her mind at ease. The fairies spread out, surveying the damage of the tribe lands. Laura and I walk straight toward the castle, with Ando following us. As we get closer, we can see the ruins of the fairy castle. Laura begins to cry. "It is all gone," she cries out. I take her into my arms. "I am so sorry, my love," I say to her. We cross the castle bridge. It is still holding firm, but the castle is a disaster. There are a few rooms still standing on the bottom, and the basement is still intact, but the upstairs and the back of the castle are gone. "My life is gone," Laura cries. I hold her as we walk through what is left of her home. "We can rebuild everything," I say to her. "We could, but will you. Would you do that for me, Luther?" Laura asks. Ando and Argo rejoin us at the castle. "Where are the fairies?" I ask both of them. "They are gathering their possessions, at least what is left. Alpha, we will stay and help them gather what they can," Ando says. "I should help them," Laura says. Laura looks around at her castle. The castle she was born in and grew up in, it is all but a memory. She cries and screams. "Laura, why don't I help you gather anything you want to take back with us?" I ask her. Laura nods her head. She walks around the room, picking up pictures and small things from the floor. She walks over to a bookcase still standing in the corner of the room. "I want my father's books," she says. She pulls a few books from the shelf. The case begins to rattle and shake. "Laura, be careful; it could fall!" I yell at her. Laura does not listen. She keeps pulling books from the bookcase, crying as she pulls the books. She struggles to pull a colossal book down. It finally breaks free. The book hits the floor, and the bookcase begins to move. "LAURA!" I yell at her. I run to her as the bookcase opens. It is a passageway. "What the hell?" Laura says in disbelief. She sticks her head in the passageway. "You should not go in there, and this place could collapse," I say to her. "Do not be ridiculous; the basement and the original castle are all stone; it will not go anywhere. I want to know where this goes," Laura says. "Fine, but I am coming with you," I say. "Fine," she says. "Ando, come with us. Argo, go help the fairies," I growl. I push in front of Laura to go ahead of her. Why in the hell is there a secret passageway in this castle?
