It's been a couple days since seeing my dad and finding out my mother had passed away. Nicky suggested we go visit her grave and I agreed so thats where we are headed now.
I never much liked cemeteries anyway but I hated them even more now. We drove through the gates and to where my mother is buried.

Nicky is right beside me as I stand infront of mom's grave holding her favourite flowers, peonies.
"I was thinking it could be a really nice thing to buy a fruit tree and plant it at your home, you said she loved fruit trees... we could honour her in that way, maybe?" Nicky suggests.
It's actually a really good idea. She is so thoughtful.
"You are so fucking amazing, you know that right?" I say turning to kiss her.
"You are, Drew." She smiles, kissing me back.
"I saw some really old and interesting head stones over there, I might go check it out and just give you some time, ok baby?" Nicky says.
"Thank you, babygirl." I say.
I watch Nicky walk over to where she said she saw the headstones.
"I'm sorry it took me so long to get home, mom. I'm sorry I missed it all and I wish I was here to help you through it. Be there with you when you passed.... but I know what you would say if you could... you'd say your glad I wasn't here so I didn't have to see you like that, and that if I was here I wouldn't have met Nicky."
I look over at Nicky again, she's wiping away some dirt on one headstone.
"She's amazing mom. I've never met anyone else like her, she makes my heart race and I'm thinking of things like marriage and kids. You would have loved her, she's kind, considerate, hilariously funny and charming, she's also incredibly thoughtful and caring. I better get going now, I just wanted to give you these and have my own goodbye in a way. I'll come back and visit you soon. I love you mom." I say before placing the peonies on the grave and meeting up with Nicky.
We spend the rest of the day doing a little shopping and eating the foods we so desperately missed while stranded. Nicky ordered a drink with her meal and then asked for an extra cup of ice. It made me laugh because she really did complain alot about not having ice qhen we were stuck there.
I also got us two new phones as well and called my friend Kayne to let him know we were settled and to come over for dinner.
We had gotten back and put our new stuff away so I could get started on dinner.
"So, what's Kayne like? Nicky asks.
'Well, he's my best friend. We have known each other for years, since we were little. We've always been there for each other, through good and bad, I know he knew about my mother but didn't want to brake it to me at that moment. He's a great friend, Nicky." I say.
"Aww I'm glad you had that, I had that with my grandmother, I know that sounds silly. But she really was my best friend." Nicky says.
"It's not silly at all, she meant the world to you, baby." I say kissing her head.
"Do you wanna help me? I'm making a roast for dinner tonight, Kayne loves a good roast dinner." I say smiling.
"Sure, put me to work!" She says.
I look at her and groan.
"Babygirl, there's plenty I could put you to work on." I say.
"Oh my gosh, Drew." She gasps but smiles.
We get to making dinner, Nicky washes and cuts the potato's and pumpkin while I prep the lamb roast in the oven and make sure we have green beans and stuff for gravy.
Knock, knock, knock.
"He's here." I smile and dry my hands before going to open the door.
"Drew!" Kayne yells as he grabs me into a hug.
"Kayne." I say laughing, hugging him back.
"Oh wow, dude! Look how fucking ripped you are now!" Kayne says.
"Oh shut up." I laugh.
"And so this must be your girl?" Kayne asks looking at Nicky.
"Sure is. Nicky this is Kayne, and Kayne this is Nicky." I introduce.
"Its so good to meet you, Drew has told me lots about you." Nicky says.
"Hopefully all good stories." Kayne says.
"Come on, I'll get you a beer. Roasts in the oven, it'll be done in an hour." I say gesturing him to the kitchen.
"Oh wow, I haven't been here in so long." Kayne says looking around the house.
"Ha, tell me about it. I got lost the first night, trying to remember where the bathroom was." I say.
"Oh no shit? That's hilarious, sorry." Kayne laughs.
"I've been thinking about selling it, anyway." I say while placing a beer infront of Kayne and a glass of water infront of Nicky.
"You sure you don't want a wine or something, babygirl?" I ask.
"No thanks, not tonight." She says.
"So why the selling?" Kayne asks.
"He misses the space." Nicky says.
"Is that so? Well it's to be expected i guess, you spent a decade on an island." He says.
"Yeah I don't know, I just miss the peace and the space." I say.
"Well, I am a real estate agent. I can have a look and see what i can find. Just email me what specifics your wanting and I'll make sure I find it." He says.
"That would be awesome, actually. Thanks man." I say.
We take a seat at the table and I hear about how much Kaynes life has changed and what he's been doing these last 10 years. He's done well for himself, owns his own agency, has enough money to be beyond comfortable, he just doesn't have a family yet, but he said he had his eyes on someone. I hope he finds what I have found with Nicky, he deserves it.
Dinner is ready and Nicky dishes it up, to give me some time with Kayne. I wanna do something for her, something to thank her for being amazing and giving and saying things to me that I really needed.
She's just fucking everything, she's my rock. My world, my everything.
Before we have even started digging in the door bell rings. I get up to answer it and its a delivery man, he's holding a box and it's from my fathers friend.
"I've got a special delivery here for a miss... Nicky?" He says.
"Yeah, I'll take that. Thanks." I say.
It's got holes in the top and I can hear little squeals, this must be Gregor. Nicky is going to be so happy. I take the box into her and she looks at me confused.
"Whats tha." She doesn't finish saying because little Gregor makes a loud squeal and she's off the chair in seconds, running to me and lifting the lid off.
"Oh Gregor, I've missed you so, so much!" She cries.
"Who's this?" Kayne asks.
"Nicky's pet we found while on the island. His names Gregor. I say smiling.
She pats him a while before finally putting him down so she can eat something.
