Sydney Marin Chapter 7

“I will think of away,” she whispered to herself. Bringing up my courage, I spoke to her. “I don’t want to go somewhere unknown. I know how to cook and I will take care of myself. I won’t go back.” She looked up at me convincingly but all she replied is “It’s settled, Sydney. I need to ask any of my friends to take care of you and also, I’m thinking of giving you the training to learn all witch skills. It’s your time to study.” For a minute I felt like hearing one bad news and another good one. Staying in some unknown person’s house is not a good idea, even though they are Lydia’s friends. I will feel uncomfortable living with some other witch’s house. Anyway, she said this is the time for my studies. Is that mean I will join any academy? Wow. If it’s true I’m so happy right now. I want to join the sapphire Academy. “Where will I be studying?” “I didn’t think of that. You will learn under the guidance of a witch at the home. You are not going anywhere. You will stay at one of my friend’s houses. They will help you with everything. Now I need to think who will take the responsibility of having you in their house.” She calmly said, taking her home and going to her room without even finishing her breakfast. All my expectations turned to disappointment in a second. Seriously, this is how am I going to live the rest of my life. ‘Cool. Congratulations Sydney. Your aunt will not do what you wanted.’ I spent the rest of the day admiring the house I’m living in and the surroundings. What if the person who’s going to take care of me is strict? They won’t let me enjoy my life as I wanted. I should have been grateful for my current life which is going far away from me. .... I’m in my white slip with a blue short skirt heading towards the stairs. It’s not even midnight, but I am going to sleep. “Hey Sydney, Come here.” My aunt called me impatiently. “What’s now?” I muttered with irritation. “Pack your things in three or four days. My friend Nina will take care of you. She’s such a good person and your training will be really useful. I’m sure you will enjoy it.” She gladly announced. I’m not sure how should I react. It’s nothing interesting to study alone. “Okay aunt, have a delightful journey. Return as soon as you can.” I said with some hope. But she looked disappointed the moment I spoke. “I will try my best. This work is the most dangerous thing I’m ever doing. I need to bring back the life of a dead person, a witch and the need to destroy a demon that possessed a body. There have been many cases going around like this. I’m not sure of my return.” She simply answered, but I feel uncertain about it. My mom and dad have died by doing powerful spells which drained all their energy from their body. Now she’s going somewhere to do something more dangerous. It won’t end well. “Are you saying you won’t return? Tell me you are kidding. If it’s a dangerous one, why are you doing it?” I slammed my fist on the nearby table so hard it hurt. She’s not at all angry at my response. She’s looking at me like this is the last time she will ever see me. I don’t want that. I will rather stay in the same home than send her off to some life-taking risks. She can’t do many spells all by herself. The only family left for me is her. Lydia. “I already tried to back off from the work but the situation is going really worse. I can’t let many lives in danger by sitting here. They said they will give me a million dollars to do this. But I’m not working for money. I’m doing this to save lives. You should trust me, have faith in me. I will come back.” She tried to bring some confidence. “I will trust you, but you should promise me you will come back no matter what. I am not going to lose you.” I controlled my tears and hugged her. After some silence, we both calmed ourselves. “Go, sleep now.” She smiled at me. These days I rarely see her smile. Finally, I walked to my room, not being frustrated. I’m ready to go to Nina’s house for my aunt. I hope Nina will be nice to me. I closed the door behind me slowly and when I looked up, I saw someone’s shadow in my window. “What the fuck” I cursed and blinked a few times in confusion. The window is wide open, but that person is still holding on to it is… That’s Jacen. “Jacen?” I whispered in shock. “Can I come inside?” He asked me. I hurried towards the end and shrieked. “What the hell are you doing here? My aunt is in the hall.” “We can talk about that once I’m inside. Now can I come in?” “But” I hesitated without understanding the most common thing. He’s a vampire. “Oh my god, Sydney. I can’t come inside without your permission. Tell me, can I come in?” “Sorry. You can come in, Jacen.” I said after the fact struck my mind. I was making him wait for so long. He can’t come inside without anyone’s permission. “Why are you here at this time?” I whispered silently. “You ignored my message the whole day. So, I worried about you.” He simply replied. I was so upset today that I didn’t even see my phone. I was absent-minded for the whole day. But I never have an idea he will really sneak to my house. I thought he was just joking that day. He stalked my slatecity account. “I didn’t ignore you. You should have called me. Now go to your home.” I ordered. “I’m not going,” he smirked, and his eyes roamed my whole body. ‘Oh no, I’m in my nightdress. You are stupid, Sydney.’ I scolded myself. “Hey. Turn around. I need to change my dress.” I almost screamed, and he did what I asked. I rushed to get my shirt and went to the restroom. When I’m back, he was sitting on my bed and seeing my room and many CDs of games. “You have so many games. Did you play it all?” he examined some of it. “Yeah. That’s my all-time job.” I replied, sitting next to him. “I know you didn’t ignore me but is everything alright?” he asked me, concerned. “Not really. I’m sending off to some witch house for nearly six months. Cause my aunt is going somewhere to destroy some demon and some other issues, etc... I don’t know about it clearly.” “six months is too long. From what I have heard, your aunt never went anywhere more than a month, right?” He told me correctly. A guy who knows everything. That got to be Jacen in the whole slateville. “Yes. Now she...” Suddenly I trailed off hearing my aunt’s voice. “Sydney, who are you talking with?” I heard footsteps and her voice. Why she’s coming to my room right now? This is not the right time.
