Switch in Chapter 72

...Dickinson POV… I answered the phone, relieved to hear Emile's voice on the other end. "Are you home?" I asked, hoping she was in a good mood. "Yes, and Emily has settled down in good condition. How did your date go?" she chuckled. "It wasn't really a date," I replied quickly. "Listen, I need to see you now at the Marigold Eatery. I'll wait outside the door for you. It's important." "So quick, Dickinson. What's the problem?" Emile asked, sounding concerned. "And how was your 'outing' with Henry?" "It wasn't an outing, it was just a movie. But never mind that now, I have a solution to all this. Just meet me at the coffee shop," I said, trying to sound confident. "I'll explain everything when you get here." Before she could respond, I hung up the phone and rushed out of the house. … Emile POV… I walked into the hospital, my heart racing with anticipation. Today was the day I would finally take Emily home. I couldn't wait to see her again after what felt like an eternity of worry and concern. As I made my way down the sterile corridors, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. I knew that Emily was safe now, but the memory of her hospitalization still lingered in my mind. I arrived at Dr. Jones' office, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. I knew that he was a reliable physician, and I trusted him to take care of Emily. As I entered the room, Dr. Jones stood up and greeted me warmly. We shook hands, and he offered me a seat. I sat down, feeling a bit nervous. Dr. Jones began to speak, telling me that Emily was perfectly okay and that she only needed to rest. I nodded, taking in his words. I knew that Emily had been through a lot, and I was relieved to hear that she was doing well. As Dr. Jones continued to talk, I couldn't help but think about Elena. Dr. Jones asked me about Elena, and I felt a pang of sadness in my heart. I knew that Elena had been struggling with her own demons, and I didn't want to burden Emily with that. Dr. Jones told me that Elena was starting to agree with them and that she was on the premises. I nodded, feeling a sense of relief. However, I knew that I couldn't see her. I didn't want to stir up any trouble or bring up any painful memories. I told Dr. Jones that I didn't want to see her and that he shouldn't inform her that I was here. Dr. Jones nodded, understanding my request. He then told me that all the bills had been paid and that we could go to Emily's room. I stood up, feeling a sense of excitement wash over me. I couldn't wait to see her again and take her home. As we made our way to Emily's ward, I felt my heart rate increase. Finally, we arrived at her room, and I walked in, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. Emily was sitting up in bed, looking pale but serene. I rushed over to her, feeling tears welling up in my eyes. I took her hand in mine, feeling her warmth and love. "Hey, Em," I said, my voice cracking with emotion. "You're going home today. As I stepped into the ward, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The hospital was a sterile and clinical environment, and it made me feel uneasy. The smell of antiseptic and the sound of machines beeping only added to my discomfort. As I walked towards Emily's room, I noticed the other patients in the ward. They looked pale and tired, and it made me realize how lucky we were. Emily was going to be okay, and we were going to take her home. As I entered Emily's room, I saw her sitting up in bed, wearing hospital clothes. She looked pale and fragile, but there was a sense of determination in her eyes that made me admire her even more. I walked over to her bed, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. She had been through so much, but she was still here, still fighting. As I looked at her, I couldn't help but think back to the day when she had threatened me with a gun. It was a memory that I tried to push away, but it kept coming back to me, haunting me. "Hey Dickinson" Emily looked up at me and snapped, I couldn't help but feel a little taken aback. Her sharp tongue still caught me off guard, startling me. "Decide to pick me up, did you?" she said, her voice laced with sarcasm. "Yes, of course," I said, trying to keep my tone even. "We can get going whenever you're ready." "I need to change out of these," she gestured to her hospital clothes. "And you'll have to wait a little for my clothes to come back from the dry cleaners." "Uh, okay," I said, feeling a little unsure of myself. I didn't want to push her too hard, but I also wanted to get her out of the hospital as soon as possible. I sat down on a chair near the window, feeling a little awkward. The hospital was never a comfortable place to be, and I wanted to leave as soon as possible. Dr. Jones spoke to the nurse and turned to us, you could whenever you want. He nodded at me. "Ok", I said as I watched him and the nurse leave the room. After a few moments of silence a knock sounded on the door, "it's the dry cleaner". As the voice spoke Emily got up and went to the door. "Next time prepare your customers clothes faster", she said to the man after collecting her dress and slamming the door shut. The cloth was a yellow material in a white nylon that was packaged neatly. "Oh God I want to leave here as fast as possible", She looked at me from the corners of her eyes as she stepped into the bathroom with the dry cleaned cloth. After a few minutes she came out all dressed up in a yellow flowery dress. I turned my head, I saw Emily walking out of the bathroom. She looked stunning, dressed elegantly in a flowing yellow gown with intricate floral designs. The dress accentuated her curves in all the right places, making her look even more beautiful than usual. The yellow color of the dress brought out the radiance in her skin, making her look almost angelic. Her hair was pulled back into a loose bun, with a few strands framing her face. She looked like a ray of sunshine in the otherwise dull hospital room. As she approached me, she held the hospital robes she had worn before in her hands and placed them on the bed. The scent of the fragrance of her feminine perfume wafted across my nose, eyes met mine, and I could see a sense of relief in them. She had been in the hospital for quite some time, and the simple act of changing into something beautiful seemed to lift her spirits. I took her luggages the booth of the car and the driver helped arrange it as I stepped into the backseat . I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. I sat in the passenger seat, feeling a little awkward. I didn't know the driver, and he didn't seem very talkative. Emily sat in the backseat, looking out the window. I could tell she was still feeling a little weak, but she was determined to go home. "Finally she snapped" As the driver started the engine. "Drive a bit faster," she said to the driver. I looked out the window, watching as the hospital disappeared behind us. I couldn't wait to get home, to finally be able to relax and not worry about anything. As we drove, I sat in silence, lost in my thoughts. Emily was still holding my hand, and I could feel her grip tighten every now and then. I knew she was still feeling scared and vulnerable, but I didn't know how to help her. Eventually, we pulled up outside our house, and the driver opened the door for Emily. I got out of the car and walked around to the backseat, helping Emily out. She leaned on me for support. As we pulled up to the driveway of Emily's mansion, I couldn't help but feel a little overwhelmed. The grandeur of the place was something I wasn't quite used to, and I felt a little out of place. I got out of the car and walked around to the backseat, helping Emily out. She was still weak, and I could feel her leaning on me for support. "Are you okay?" I asked her, feeling a little worried. She nodded, giving me a weak smile. "I'm fine," she said. "Just a little tired."
